Aiden

The whole room had gone tranquil. It was as silent as a graveyard, and the weight of what I had done was settling in the air. Cynthia’s eyes were wide as she held her now reddened cheek.

“Aiden, you...you hit me?” She asked, her voice filled with disbelief.

“Yes, and I will do it again,” I said, my arms folded.

I did not feel any ounce of regret at what I had done to her. She dared to lay her hands on my mate and she was suffering the repercussions.

That was not the only reason I had hit her. Cynthia has always been pompous, everyone knew her for that. All because she was a Lycan, she would act like she was better than everyone. And I hated that.

I wanted to put her in her place, and I was glad that the opportunity had finally been given to me.

“Know your place, Cynthia, you cannot just storm into my room and hurt my mate,” I hissed.

Cynthia’s eyes met with mine and a scowl formed on her face.

“Aiden, you dare to hit me? Your fiancée?”

Kayla’S POV As I trudged down the hallway, my mind was still reeling from what had happened to me in Aiden’s chambers. Cynthia’s presence there took a turn for the worst. I was in utter shock when she laid her hands on me, but what was more shocking, was the fact that Aiden had hit her back, and it was because of me. I was still sceptical about Aiden’s feelings for me, but when he got angry for my sake, I began to believe that his feelings for me were real. I was under the impression that the only reason why he was attracted to me was because of the mate bond, but now, I knew it was more than that. I did not know how to feel about these feelings that Aiden harboured for me, because I did not feel the same way about him. I let out a sigh; my head hung low as the thought of Cynthia popped up in my head. I was not elated when Aiden had hit her because of me. I was scared, that she would resent me because of that. When I rushed out of the room, I rushed out in hopes that I would

I was so eager and desperate to see Kayla, but the mountain of paperwork I had to finish for my father was sitting right on my table. He had given me these documents to sign, saying it was something for the finalization of the wedding, and it needed to

Kayla I stood in front of my stepfather’s house, my nerves failing me. I had walked all the way here, but I was not confident enough to step in. It did not really come as shock to me that the alpha was sending me away from the pack house, but when he told me he was banishing me from the pack, I was at loss for words. I had never anticipated this outcome, but I should have known it would come to this at the end of the day. I had been hated by everyone in this pack for so long, and they saw me as a nuisance. To them, I was like a small stain, on a white cloth, tarnishing it. What hurt me the most was that Aiden, my so called mate, had not even come to my aid, not even once, He was the one that begged me to stay in the pack house after all, and now that his father did not want me there, he had gone mute, just like me. I cursed him underneath my breath, and regretted, why I had even gone along with his words. I steeled my nerves, clenching my fists by my side as I walked up to t

Aiden As I lay in my chambers, my mind was reeling with everything that had taken place during my last encounter with my father. I could still vividly, recall how irked I was, and how my rage had consumed me to the max. I had never imagined that one day; I would strangle Cynthia till she passed out. No matter how much I hated her, I never thought I would go so far. But the rage had blinded my eyes, making me do something very terrible, and what's more, I did it in front of my father, and Julian. I recalled the way they dragged me away from her with so much force, I landed on the ground. Julian was ready to pounce on me and tear me from limb to limb. I could smell his bloodlust. But my father calmed him down, telling him that he would make sure I was punished severely for what I had done to my wife-to-be. Julian was able to calm down, but he still shot daggers at me as he carried his daughter, out of my father’s office. I got an earful from my father. It was mostly him yellin

Kayla I was seated at the corner of the dimly lit room I had been thrown into a day before, hungry, tired, and in need of a bath. I had sat here for a day, debating on what my fate was going to be. The man that I had seen, was referred to as the devil king, at least, that was what his barbaric followers called him. I only got a glimpse of his face, and that huge grin he had was anything but nice. It was eerie, and it made the hairs at the back of my neck stand straight. He said he was not going to feast on me, but why had I been brought here? And why had I been left here for a whole day? I rubbed my eyes, looking at my surroundings and taking in the rather eccentric design of the bedroom. The walls were lined with crimson tapestries that looked like they were woven from the entrails of some mythical creature. The floor was made of black obsidian stones, and they were polished to a high shine, reflecting the eerie red light that emanated from the walls. The bed was a massiv

Aiden I stood in front of the full-length mirror in my chambers, taking in my appearance. Today was a big day for me, as I was about to be officially named the alpha of the pack. It was a great honour and responsibility that came with it, and I wanted to look my best for the occasion. Today was also my wedding day, and thought of it made me nauseous. I wanted to get the wedding aspect of this ceremony over with, and I wanted it to be done, fast. I adjusted my black suit jacket, making sure it fit perfectly on my broad shoulders. The jacket was made of a fine wool blend, with a subtle sheen to it. It was tailored to fit my muscular frame and emphasized my height. I paired it with a crisp white dress shirt and a black silk tie. The tie was knotted tightly, a symbol of my determination to lead the pack with strength and wisdom. My trousers were also black, perfectly pressed and tapered to my legs. They were made of a comfortable fabric that allowed me to move easily, which wa

Kayla “It has been two days now. I take it that you have made your decision?” The devil kind bellowed the moment he stepped into the room. I pushed myself up from the bed, my eyes trailing to him. I had made my decision two days ago, and had enough time to mull over it. I exhaled, bringing my hands up to my chest. “I will become your wife.” I went grim, not believing the decision I had made. But this was for the best, it was the only way I could survive, and get my voice back. A grin appeared on the devil king’s lips and he nodded. “You are a smart girl. I knew you would choose right. And since I had anticipated this, I have prepared something for you,” he said, his eyes looking to the door. I watched curiously as he called out to someone. The room door creaked open, and my eyes fell on a girl standing there. She was petite and wore a maid uniform, which hugged her curves perfectly. Her hair was styled in a neat bun, and she wore a black ribbon tied around her neck. As

Kayla As I ran, my heart pounded, and my breathing became ragged. I could hear my footsteps echoing off the alley's walls, mingling with the pounding of my pursuers' feet. I knew that I had to keep running if I wanted to escape. My muscles burned with exertion, and sweat poured down my face. I tried to focus on the rhythm of my breathing and the sound of my footsteps, hoping it would distract me from the fear and exhaustion that threatened to overwhelm me. My mind raced as I searched for a way out. I scanned the dark alley for any signs of escape, but it seemed like a dead end. The only light came from a distant street lamp, casting long shadows that seemed to reach out and grab at my feet as I ran past. Suddenly, I heard a loud noise behind me and instinctively turned to look. My foot caught on a loose brick in that split second, and I stumbled, nearly falling. I felt a hand on my shoulder and knew my pursuers were close. With a burst of energy, I surged forward, yanking m

Kayla Just like Aiden had promised, I was given a room, which was right beside his chambers. He wanted me close to him, and that kind of filled me with a sense of relief. The moment I stepped into the room he had prepared for me, I was at loss for words. It was easily the most luxurious room I had ever seen. The first thing that caught my eye was the massive king-sized bed, covered in soft, white linens that looked like they belonged in a five-star hotel. I walked over to the bed, running my hands over it. This was the first time I had touched a bed so soft. The bed I slept on, back at my house could not hold a candle to this. To the left of the bed was a beautifully crafted wooden dresser with intricate carvings that caught the light from the crystal chandelier hanging above it. The dresser had a matching vanity table with a large mirror, flanked by two delicate golden lamps. In the corner of the room, there was a cosy armchair with a soft, plush cushion, perfect for l
