Aiden
"Huh? You did not hear about it?" Sam slurred on his words as he rested his elbow on my shoulder. "I have no idea what you're going on. Explain better," I probed, my arms folded and a frown on my face. Sam chugged down a few more drinks before he spoke. "You see that mute, yeah, her name is Kayla. Apparently, she came out of nowhere one Dar claiming that she got raped by not just on man, but multiple men." My eyes widened as his words hit me. "Multiple men? That sounds horrible. But we have never had a rape incident in this pack before." "Precisely," Sam continued, "No one believed her naturally. Who knows if she really got raped? People were saying that she only did it to attract attention to herself, and of course, she was shunned. If word got out that something like that had occurred in our pack, then, it would ruin our reputation." That was when something clicked. I began to recall, vividly, a conversation I had with my father about a girl that lied about getting raped. My father was very riled up by her atrocities claims, as he said. He said that it was impossible for someone to get raped in this pack. That it was a safe place for omegas, even during the heat periods. Other packs have rape cases, where omegas were taken advantage of during the heat periods, but none has occurred here. I could see why my father was enraged by her claims, but I could not shake off the feeling that she spoke the truth. Her green eyes held sincerity in them and I could not imagine her telling such a lie to gain attention in the pack. "But why are you so concerned about this girl? She is not an important person, and I would advise you to stay away her," Sam said as he gave me a pat on the back. Stay away from her? My mate? That was an impossible request. The connection I had felt with her was string, electrifying. I wanted to feel that again. I wanted to get to know her better. I brushed Sam's hands off me and glared at him. "I will not stay away from her, as she is very important to me," I announced. Sam shrugged and grinned at me, bus eyes droopy. "Suit yourself man, I'm going to find some hot chicks to get into my bed tonight." I let out a sigh. To think that I used to join him to commit frivolous acts. I did not want to partake in such a night. My mind was only filled with her. I needed to find her. I roamed around the crowd a bit more, my eyes scanning each person and each corner, but after my desperate attempts to find her at the party, I had come to the realization that she was not here anymore. Had she gone home? I desperately began to ask around, if they had seen the mute girl, and each person's response was the same. They either looked with disgust, or scoffed, and they said they wanted nothing to do with that defected human. I had only heard about the mute and stealer girl, but I never knew she was suffering such stigmatization. I couldn't care less about her, until I had seen her up close. Her beauty had captured my heart, leaving me speechless. I could not believe that this was the same girl everyone hated so much. I could not imagine what she had faced in the past. I wished I could have been there to protect her, but it was too late to mull over the past. All I had to do was protect her now, and I was going to use everything in my power to do that. But first, I needed to know where she lived. I needed to see her. As I made my way to the crowd to the entrance, I felt a hand grab my wrist tightly. I spun around and my eyes fell on Cynthia . She had a smile on her lips and her eyelashes fluttered as she gazed at me. I yanked my hand out of her grip and frowned at her. "What do you want?" I asked harshly. Cynthia took a step closer to me and linked our fingers together. "That's such a harsh question to ask your fiancée, don't you think?" I wrinkled my nose at her words. As I opened my mouth to dismiss her words, she spoke up first, cutting me off. "I have been looking for you everywhere. Like your father said, we need to get to know each other more, seeing as we would be wedded to each other in due time. And," she grinned. "I am very much interested in you alpha." I yanked my hand away from her, my eyes void of any emotion as I gazed at her. "I do not have any intention of getting to know you better, or getting married to you. Now if you will excuse me, I have more important things to attend to." "What?!" Cynthia exclaimed, her eyes so wide, it looked like they would fall out of their sockets. I ignored her, making my way out of the building. I stumbled into the main road, and gazed at it for a few seconds. The whole area was tranquil, and the cold air blew by as I began to make my way down the road. Where was I going? I wanted to find her, but I did not know where to start. As unbelievable as it was, I was inclined to believe her story about getting raped. It could be my bias towards her, but I could not stand to see her suffer so much. I was going to protect her, even though it costs me everything. As I walked around the road aimlessly, my nose picked up a scent. It was her scent. A smile crossed my lips. I could use this to track her. I followed her smell down the road, until a small cottage came into view. I gazed at it for a while before walking up to the front porch. The porch was dainty looking, having a long wooden bench on the side. There was a bulb at the top, which flickered once in a while. The front door was a golden brown, and I could tell that it was made from cheap wood. How could she live in this place? Her smell but me again, and seeing as it was heavily concentrated here, I was positive that I was at the right place. I was suddenly beginning to feel nervous. What if she found me strange for tracking her all the way to her house? What if she looked at me like some kind of weird stalker? I did not want that. But I could not back down now. My eyes scanned the place for a doorbell, until I found one. I pressed it, but it made no noise. I concluded that it was broken and decided to knock instead. I hit my knuckles lightly on the door, and after waiting for a few minutes there was no response. I peered through the window, but it was too dark to see anything. I knocked again, but then, I began to hear something. I could hear muffled sobs coming from inside. Was it her? What was going on in there? I was flared up as her muffled sobs got louder. "Hey! Are you okay?" I yelled as I banged my hand on the door. There was no response and I was getting worried by each minute. I had no choice. I broke down the door, letting myself in. Right before my eyes was a large man, hovering over her. My mind became filled with rage and rushed over to them, pushing the man away. The man groaned and fell to the ground. I hovered over him, my fists clenched. "What on earth were you trying to do to my mate?" I growled. "A-Alpha Aiden?" He stammered. I clicked my tongue and turned my eyes away from him, and towards her. Kayla's cheeks were stained with tears and her body was trembling. My heart shattered into a million pieces from just seeing her in this state. I wanted to hold her in my arms, comfort her and tell her that everything was going to be okay. "Are you alright? Did he hurt you in any way?" I asked as I took several steps forward, towards her. Kayla's eyes flashed with hostility, and she took a few steps back. My heart ached that she acted like this towards me. I had imagined that she would be happy to see me. Her reaction was unexpected. Did she think I was going to hurt her and lay my hands on her like those men had done? "You don't have anything to worry about, I won't hurt you," I said, trying to reassure her. Kayla eyes me suspiciously. I let out a sigh. "That man must be your father, but he did that kind of thing to you. How can you live with such a man?" Kayla's eyes filled up with sadness, and she began to move her hands to communicate with me. "I do not have a choice," it read. "But you do," I stretched out my hands to her. "Come with me, leave this horrible place. If you do, I will make sure no one ever touches you again," I watched as Kayla gazed at me, an indecisive look on her face.Kayla My eyes slid open slowly, and it was immediately greeted by the sight of my worn out wooden, bedside table. It was on verge of collapsing, as weevils and other insects had begun to chomp through the wood. I moved my eyes to the window, and gazed at the warm sunlight that slipped through the thin glass. I pushed myself up into a sitting position, my mind in shambles. After the terrifying attempt my stepfather tried to pull on me, and the bizarre encounter with alpha Aiden, it was hard to get any sleep at night. My mind kept replaying the scene, over and over again, like a broken DVD. I had already steeled my mind, preparing for my stepfather to violate me, but the moment Aiden burst into the living room, the relief that washed over me was indescribable. It was not the first time my stepfather had tried to violate my body, but since my mother was always around the house, he never got the opportunity. But that night, we were all alone, giving him that opportunity. If Aide
Aiden “A meeting?” I questioned as my eyes fell on the wolf that was standing in front of me. “Yes alpha. Your father wants you to attend it now.” I rolled my eyes as I made do with the buttons on my shirt. It was still a bit early to be holding a pack meeting, but my father was one to not care about the time. The meeting must be important, if he wanted me to attend so early in the morning. I waved my hand, dismissing the wolf and he bowed, making way out of my chambers. I turned to the window, and gazed at my reflection. The bags under my eyes were prominent. This was to be expected, since sleep was the last thing I had last night. My mind was swirling around with thoughts of my mate, Kayla. The moment she rejected me, I felt heart broken and I could not comprehend why she would turn down my offer. I was under the assumption that she was tired of being treated that way, so why would she want to stay with her so called family. Because she loved them? I scof
Kayla Just like Aiden had promised, I was given a room, which was right beside his chambers. He wanted me close to him, and that kind of filled me with a sense of relief. The moment I stepped into the room he had prepared for me, I was at loss for words. It was easily the most luxurious room I had ever seen. The first thing that caught my eye was the massive king-sized bed, covered in soft, white linens that looked like they belonged in a five-star hotel. I walked over to the bed, running my hands over it. This was the first time I had touched a bed so soft. The bed I slept on, back at my house could not hold a candle to this. To the left of the bed was a beautifully crafted wooden dresser with intricate carvings that caught the light from the crystal chandelier hanging above it. The dresser had a matching vanity table with a large mirror, flanked by two delicate golden lamps. In the corner of the room, there was a cosy armchair with a soft, plush cushion, perfect for l
Aiden The whole room had gone tranquil. It was as silent as a graveyard, and the weight of what I had done was settling in the air. Cynthia’s eyes were wide as she held her now reddened cheek. “Aiden, you...you hit me?” She asked, her voice filled with disbelief. “Yes, and I will do it again,” I said, my arms folded. I did not feel any ounce of regret at what I had done to her. She dared to lay her hands on my mate and she was suffering the repercussions. That was not the only reason I had hit her. Cynthia has always been pompous, everyone knew her for that. All because she was a Lycan, she would act like she was better than everyone. And I hated that. I wanted to put her in her place, and I was glad that the opportunity had finally been given to me. “Know your place, Cynthia, you cannot just storm into my room and hurt my mate,” I hissed. Cynthia’s eyes met with mine and a scowl formed on her face. “Aiden, you dare to hit me? Your fiancée?” “I have never ackno
Kayla’S POV As I trudged down the hallway, my mind was still reeling from what had happened to me in Aiden’s chambers. Cynthia’s presence there took a turn for the worst. I was in utter shock when she laid her hands on me, but what was more shocking, was the fact that Aiden had hit her back, and it was because of me. I was still sceptical about Aiden’s feelings for me, but when he got angry for my sake, I began to believe that his feelings for me were real. I was under the impression that the only reason why he was attracted to me was because of the mate bond, but now, I knew it was more than that. I did not know how to feel about these feelings that Aiden harboured for me, because I did not feel the same way about him. I let out a sigh; my head hung low as the thought of Cynthia popped up in my head. I was not elated when Aiden had hit her because of me. I was scared, that she would resent me because of that. When I rushed out of the room, I rushed out in hopes that I would
Aiden The announcement about my wedding with Cynthia was made, and in two days, the whole pack was buzzing about it. The pack house was filled with excitement as everyone was preparing for the wedding. Happiness was in the air, but I could not feel it. All I could feel was rage and sadness, and I was desperate. For two whole days, I tried my best to meet Kayla, but I was always held up with work. Even when I was in my chambers, Kayla had not come to meet me, and I could only wonder why. It felt like she was avoiding me like a plague and did not want to even glance at me. What had I done wrong? Was she still angry at me for what Cynthia had done to her? I paced around in my office, these questions swirling around in my head. I was so eager and desperate to see Kayla, but the mountain of paperwork I had to finish for my father was sitting right on my table. He had given me these documents to sign, saying it was something for the finalization of the wedding, and it needed to
Kayla I stood in front of my stepfather’s house, my nerves failing me. I had walked all the way here, but I was not confident enough to step in. It did not really come as shock to me that the alpha was sending me away from the pack house, but when he told me he was banishing me from the pack, I was at loss for words. I had never anticipated this outcome, but I should have known it would come to this at the end of the day. I had been hated by everyone in this pack for so long, and they saw me as a nuisance. To them, I was like a small stain, on a white cloth, tarnishing it. What hurt me the most was that Aiden, my so called mate, had not even come to my aid, not even once, He was the one that begged me to stay in the pack house after all, and now that his father did not want me there, he had gone mute, just like me. Aiden As I lay in my chambers, my mind was reeling with everything that had taken place during my last encounter with my father. I could still vividly, recall how irked I was, and how my rage had consumed me to the max. I had never imagined that one day; I would strangle Cynthia till she passed out. No matter how much I hated her, I never thought I would go so far. But the rage had blinded my eyes, making me do something very terrible, and what's more, I did it in front of my father, and Julian. I recalled the way they dragged me away from her with so much force, I landed on the ground. Julian was ready to pounce on me and tear me from limb to limb. I could smell his bloodlust. But my father calmed him down, telling him that he would make sure I was punished severely for what I had done to my wife-to-be. Julian was able to calm down, but he still shot daggers at me as he carried his daughter, out of my father’s office. I got an earful from my father. It was mostly him yellin
Kayla “It has been two days now. I take it that you have made your decision?” The devil kind bellowed the moment he stepped into the room. I pushed myself up from the bed, my eyes trailing to him. I had made my decision two days ago, and had enough time to mull over it. I exhaled, bringing my hands up to my chest. “I will become your wife.” I went grim, not believing the decision I had made. But this was for the best, it was the only way I could survive, and get my voice back. A grin appeared on the devil king’s lips and he nodded. “You are a smart girl. I knew you would choose right. And since I had anticipated this, I have prepared something for you,” he said, his eyes looking to the door. I watched curiously as he called out to someone. The room door creaked open, and my eyes fell on a girl standing there. She was petite and wore a maid uniform, which hugged her curves perfectly. Her hair was styled in a neat bun, and she wore a black ribbon tied around her neck. As
Aiden I stood in front of the full-length mirror in my chambers, taking in my appearance. Today was a big day for me, as I was about to be officially named the alpha of the pack. It was a great honour and responsibility that came with it, and I wanted to look my best for the occasion. Today was also my wedding day, and thought of it made me nauseous. I wanted to get the wedding aspect of this ceremony over with, and I wanted it to be done, fast. I adjusted my black suit jacket, making sure it fit perfectly on my broad shoulders. The jacket was made of a fine wool blend, with a subtle sheen to it. It was tailored to fit my muscular frame and emphasized my height. I paired it with a crisp white dress shirt and a black silk tie. The tie was knotted tightly, a symbol of my determination to lead the pack with strength and wisdom. My trousers were also black, perfectly pressed and tapered to my legs. They were made of a comfortable fabric that allowed me to move easily, which wa
Kayla I was seated at the corner of the dimly lit room I had been thrown into a day before, hungry, tired, and in need of a bath. I had sat here for a day, debating on what my fate was going to be. The man that I had seen, was referred to as the devil king, at least, that was what his barbaric followers called him. I only got a glimpse of his face, and that huge grin he had was anything but nice. It was eerie, and it made the hairs at the back of my neck stand straight. He said he was not going to feast on me, but why had I been brought here? And why had I been left here for a whole day? I rubbed my eyes, looking at my surroundings and taking in the rather eccentric design of the bedroom. The walls were lined with crimson tapestries that looked like they were woven from the entrails of some mythical creature. The floor was made of black obsidian stones, and they were polished to a high shine, reflecting the eerie red light that emanated from the walls. The bed was a massiv
