"The Little Miss was alright. She just felt ecstatic. You did not need to worry anymore." The physician said after she checked Minerva numerous times to made sure that she was really alright.
"Then, thank you and sorry for the trouble," Shirley said to the physician. On the other hand, Elise heaved a sigh of relief. It was a good thing that their Little Miss was alright.
The two of them just chatted while they glanced at the painting of Princess Lianna when suddenly, the Little Miss started to shiver as she stared into the air. Shirley and Elise, and even the knights, fell into disruption as they wondered what occurred in the sudden condition of the Little Miss.
If anything bad would have happened to her, they knew the consequence they would face once His Grace found out–and that would not be a simple one for them.
When Minerva snapped out from her thoughts, she found herself back inside her chamber while the maids and knights panicked.
As she knew that it was because of her that made them like this, she obediently let the physician examined her.
"Goodness! I could still feel the erratic beat of my heart! That frightened me big time! It was a good thing that the Little Miss was alright. Or else, I didn't know how to face His Grace when he returned." Shirley mumbled as she tried to calm herself.
"Nonetheless, we were lucky that it was only due to the Little Miss' enthusiasm and not for something worse–may gods forbid," Elise muttered under her breath.
Minerva stared at the two of them as innocent as possible. The two of them exhaled and they both shook their heads.
"Little Miss, if you badly want to stroll outside, we would just do it later in the afternoon, okay? If Shirley and I insisted, for sure Head Maid Cassie would concede."
Earlier, Minerva badly wanted to go outside. But now, she had not thought about it anymore as there was something that she had to think about–and that was the identity of her 'father'.
She had lived on this body for four months but she never met her 'parents'. Most of the time, she was with Cassie, Elise, Shirley, and Julia, the maids who were responsible to took care of her.
Although they would always mention about Duke of Ivrea in their conversation, she subconsciously did not think about him nor minded him at all.
In her defense, it was not that she did not care, but Minerva was been alone almost her life. She grew up without parents so even if she mysteriously possessed this new body, she subconsciously did not look nor mind for her 'parents' as she was used to having none.
She thought that she already accepted the fact that she did not have any parents. But the reaction she had earlier was different from what she assumed.
Maybe, somewhere deep inside her, she yearned for the warmth of a family?
Minerva did not know what she felt right now. Should she felt happy about it? But, why would she felt happy? Was there anything to be happy about having parents?
She remembered her classmate Annette way back in middle school. Annette had parents and two siblings. However, her father favored her older sister while her mother favored her younger brother. And her, being a middle child, was just in between. Minerva recalled how Annette always complained about the unfair favoritism of her parents. How she always had to concede to her siblings for her to not be admonished later on by her parents.
Back then, she thought that it was a good thing that she did not have parents nor siblings. At least, she would not experience what Annette had been through.
'But what if my parents would turn out to be like Zoe's?' She subconsciously thought.
Minerva pursed her lips when she remembered Zoe.
'Nevermind.'
Why did she think about it again? Look, she started to get irritated now!
Forget it. She should stop herself to think about her so-called parents. After all, they would forget about her. Just like everyone did.
"…or I'll read a story for the Little Miss!" Shirley suggested enthusiastically.
When she heard the words Shirley uttered, Minerva complied unenthusiastically. She just decided that she would not think about her so-called parents anymore, yet Shirley suggested to proceed to read the book about her 'father'.
But before Shirley could begin, the door burst open, and a redhead beauty hastily went into Minerva's direction.
"Was Little Miss alright?" The redhead beauty, which was dressed in a maid outfit, asked in a worried tone.
"Elise, Shirley, what happened?" She worriedly asked.
"Lady Santcliment." Elise and Shirley made their greetings.
"Little Miss was alright. The physician said that it was only due to her enthusiasm." Elise answered. Though deep inside her, she was nervous as she knew that Lady Santcliment was strict especially if it was about the Little Miss.
The redhead beauty sighed in relief as she held Minerva's tiny hands.
"Little Miss, you made this servant worried."
Minerva pursed her lips as she let the redhead beauty grasped her little hands.
Cassie Santcliment.
When she first arrived here on this body, the first person that she saw was this redhead beauty, Cassie. Minerva did not know what to describe what she felt to her. She knew that Cassie did not have any ill intent, but she was also not so genuine on her so-called "care". In short, Cassie was just being professional–doing what a Head Maid should do.
Nevertheless, Cassie had performed sufficiently to her duty and made sure that she would be treated well in this house.
'Hmm. Right, wasn't Cassie the eldest daughter of a Marquis?' Minerva thought.
She remembered that Shirley, as curious as she was, asked Elise that since Cassie was the eldest daughter of Marquis of Santcliment, why did she chose to become a maid of the duke? If she wanted to become a maid, she could have gone to Imperial Palace and became a maid-in-waiting of one of the Princesses.
However, before Elise could answer her, Julia came inside and immediately rebuked Shirley. Since then, they did not continue to talk about Cassie's situation.
'Too bad. I was curious about Cassie.' Minerva thought at that time.
But Shirley had a point. If Cassie was the eldest daughter of Marquis of Santcliment, why did she chose to become a maid of the Duke's daughter instead to become a maid-in-waiting of the Princess?
Moreover, she could have married a Marquis or a Count. If her family was influential, she could have married a Duke.
Anyway, she was just curious that was why she thought of this. For sure, Cassie had her reasons why she had chosen this path.
When Cassie calmed down, she pursed her lips and sighed. "Fine. Since the Little Miss was confined inside this room for months, I would let her go outside for a stroll. But remember, you should bring the knights with you, especially Sir Kevin. Did you understood?"
Shirley and Elise nodded in agreement.
"Little Miss, I'm sorry if I would not be able to accompany you for a moment. But don't worry, next time, we would go for a picnic, okay?"
Cassie sternly gave Shirley and Elise instructions before she left. Minerva wondered what made Cassie so busy. Oftentimes, Cassie would accompany her and read some children's books. There were also times that Cassie would just sit on the chair and did some needlework while Minerva was surrounded by toys that she did not play with.
But what Minerva liked about Cassie was her beautiful voice. Every night she would hum some unfamiliar but gentle tune until she fell asleep.
"Little Miss, let's go and have a stroll outside," Shirley said excitedly. Elise shook her head.
"Prepare Little Miss clothes first. I would go and tell Sir Kevin about this." She volunteered. Shirley nodded her head in agreement.
"Alright, alright."
When Elise went outside, Shirley hastily went to fetch some clothes for her.
Seriously, Minerva did not understand why she needed to change her clothes. What she wore was already clean and presentable. She believed that there was no washing machine in this era. Wouldn't it be a trouble for those who were in charge of the laundry?
Although she wanted to protest, she decided to put the issue on the back of her head for now. Never mind, when she grew up, she would make sure to check the ones who were in charge of the laundry. After all, she understood how hard it was. When she lived with her grandmother in her last life, she was in charge of the laundry and it was extremely hard as they did not have a washing machine at that time. She would hand wash the clothes of her grandmother, aunts, uncles, and even cousins. Too bad, she did not have the help of anyone at that time.
Compared to her life before, the life she had now was completely different. At least, as she could observe, she would not be starved again. She did not need to worry about what food she would eat for tomorrow.
Ah, the perks of being a daughter of a rich man.
As her thoughts flew somewhere, she did not notice that Shirley had changed her clothes and has now carried her outside. Minerva just woke up from her stupor when she heard the voice of Elise.
"Where would we take the Little Miss?"
Shirley thought for a moment before she answered, "How about to the garden that His Grace ordered to built back when Her Grace was pregnant? The one that His Grace confidently said that Little Miss would like?"
"Oh, the butterfly garden?"
Minerva's ears perked when she heard 'butterfly garden'. Her eyes unconsciously shone as she felt excited.
Wow, butterfly garden! Her so-called father built a butterfly garden for her?
Back then, Minerva dreamt to have a butterfly garden when she purchased a house of her own. She liked butterflies the most that even most of her things had butterfly designs.
That was why she liked to stare at the ceiling of the room she lived in now as it was covered with countless butterflies.
Then now, there was a butterfly garden that they mentioned her so-called father built as he was confident that she would like it?
Minerva did not know what she felt. But what she was sure of was that her chest felt warm. And she liked this feeling.
Minerva's eyes shone in delight as she saw the butterfly garden with her own eyes. The garden was huge and there was a variety of flowers in different colors which made the garden looked lovely and vibrant. Moreover, there were also topiaries of different colored butterflies. In the middle of the garden was a huge fountain that has a statue of butterflies that formed into a circle. Then in the center of the butterflies was a crystal sphere. The pathway was made of white stones that have tiny butterflies designed. On the left side were benches that have butterflies printed on them. Also, on the right side was a huge greenhouse. Finally, the butterflies that Minerva adored gracefully flapped their wings as they danced into the flowers.Minerva let out an awestruck sigh as she was extremely captivated by the beautiful scenery.'This… was made for me?'
Minerva yawned. She was carried by Shirley all along but she felt tired that she wanted to sleep.Although she fell asleep in the afternoon, she still felt sleepy. The door suddenly opened and Cassie went inside. Right, it was already nighttime. Cassie would have to lull her to sleep like she always did.She yawned once again and Cassie smiled a little.Seriously, Cassie was too pretty especially when she smiled. Most of the time she would look serious and strict. She remembered that Shirley would sometimes tell Elise how she was intimidated by Cassie. Minerva hoped that Cassie would smile often as it suited her.If Shirley saw Cassie smiled, she would surely gape in shock. Before Cassie could start to sing, they heard a knock on the door. Cassie furrowed her brows. Then, Minerva became confused when she was instantly carried by Cassie in her arms.
Lorenzo…He was the first-ever jeweled eye possessor. There were tons of legends that surrounded him. Whether it was about his life or the deeds that he had done, it had circulated the Larin Continent, as per Shirley. However, she did not expect that she could see this famed person right in front of her.In the books, they described Lorenzo as a gentle and kind man that lived in solitude. He achieved his dream to live in the mountains away from the people.A lot of people tried to find where Lorenzo resided. However, they still could not find it no matter what. Until they decided to give up as they knew that it was all for naught. After all, Lorenzo was a known powerful archmage. He might have used concealment magic for his home to prevent from being disturbed.During the war with the devils that happened every hundred years, he would always stand as the vanguard. He slaughter
"Seriously Santi, was this how you talk to your child? You talked as if she was your subordinate!" Lorenzo rebuked him as he was baffled by his friend. "What do you know? Get lost." "Wow, so much for thanks." Minerva looked at Lorenzo and to the stone that he held. She also peeked at Cassie whose lips were pursed as if she had tried to suppress her laugh. As she observed, Lorenzo, and her so-called father which was Santi, were close enough to exchange banters. But she wouldn’t expect that they would be this close. And her ‘father’ was even a bit rude to Lorenzo. ‘Well, this was the banter between friends, I guess? This was what I read in the novels.' Still, she didn't expect that they would be this close. She was already in disbelief when Lorenzo appeared and saved them. Minerva did not expect that her 'father' would ask a favor of him.
Minerva hugged the plushie as she stared at the ceiling in her chambers. Because of what happened last night, she decided to not go outside for today. She did not want Cassie and the others to be worried. Besides, she was also afraid of what transpired. Although she looked distracted when she heard her father last night, it still wouldn't change the fact that she almost lost her life at the hands of the king’s henchmen. Even Cassie got injured. It was a good thing that Lorenzo appeared and saved them; albeit a bit late. Right, about Cassie, she heard from Shirley that she and Julia were extremely busy as they did the "clean-up" that her father mentioned. Seriously, Shirley had the gossip that she needed. If she wanted to know something, it was better to ask Shirley as she knew a lot of things. Unfortunately, she was incapable to utter coherent words as of now as she was in the body of a child. At most, she could only blabber some nonsense and pointed things i
Santi sat on the sofa as Minerva was on his lap. Across him was Lorenzo who leisurely sipped on the tea that Julia made. On the side was Alvin, Cassie and Julia.“So, care to share what happened?” Lorenzo asked. It was obvious that he wanted to catch the news first-hand.On the other hand, Santi took the tiger plushie on the side and gave it to his daughter before he answered.“I almost shove it on his throat.” He said nonchalantly. But deep inside, he was extremely pissed by the old man. It was a good thing that he came home and his mood lightened when he saw his Little Crybaby. The truth was, they should arrive two weeks at most. Teleportation was the easiest way for the to arrive sooner but these dumb mages that were sent by the king insisted that they did not know how to teleport. Thus, they could not accompany him on the return.Did they really think he was a saint? He left as soon as they uttered those nonsense. He was
Minerva stiffly sat on the high chair beside her father in the dining room. It was time for dinner and her father insisted that he would be the one who'll feed her. Before, it was Elise who fed her. But now, Santi declined Elise when she tried to feed her as he wanted to do it himself.Lorenzo already left. He only did so when he was filled with the gossip that he wanted. Not only that, he even shamelessly brought the cookies that Julia baked. Santi gave him a mouthful of insult before he let Lorenzo take them."Was there a particular food that Minnie liked to eat?" Santi asked the four maids who were in charge to took care of his child while he was away."Your Grace, if there was something that the Little Miss liked to eat, it would be strawberry, banana, and minced avocado with sweetened milk," Elise answered. As she was the one that was assigned on the Little Miss' food, she was the one knowledgeable the most about
"Ysmael! I'll kill you! You son of a bitch!"Everyone inside the room was silent as they knelt in front of the presence of the king. As his anger shot up, so as his mana thus made everyone inside the room tremble.A loud crash was once again heard. Afterward, they heard the loud breath of King Vicente IX.Silence engulfed the whole room until the king broke it himself."If any of you could eliminate the Duke of Ivrea, I would, without a doubt, pass the crown to any of you."The princes and princesses that were inside the room were shocked by the declaration of their Imperial Father. No, it wasn't a declaration anymore. It was more of an ultimatum!"But of course, that wasn't an easy feat." The king continued, "That's why his daughter was there, wasn't it?"Silence once again ensued. But it was broken down when the Second Prince answered.
"Minnie?"Minerva snapped back from her thoughts as soon as she saw Marcus waving his hand in front of her. She was too lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice that he was calling her name."Oh, you were finally back from thinking deeply. Seriously, Minnie, you were the only one I knew that would often daze even in the middle of a tense conversation. Sometimes, I couldn't help but wonder what was running on your mind." Marcus said as his right cheek rested on his palm and looked at him with unmasked curiosity.Minerva scoffed and smacked his arm, which she often did to him."Shut up." She rolled her eyes, "And what was that about what was running on my mind? Seriously, Marcus, if you only knew, you wouldn't have wished to know."Of course, she was only joking. But Minerva didn't want to entertain Marcus anymore with this topic hence she ended this
"Do you perhaps understand this language?" Minerva asked. Marcus raised his head to look at her."Kind of. I was still studying that language but I don't have enough time. There were words and phrases that didn't make sense for me so I decided to take that books when I return home." He answered, "But if you wanted that book, you could borrow that before me.""I see." She muttered as she caressed the book."This language was rare. How did you learn about this?""Oh, that." Marcus knitted his brows as if he was recalling, "He had books that had the same language as that on his private library. I was curious about the book hence I asked him to teach me how to read that language. Although father didn't personally teach me how, he instead gave me an old book that teach how to read that language." He paused and looked at her, "Why, did you want to learn that language?"Minerva pursed her l

"Where did you get these books?" Minerva asked Marcus who was crouching down on the floor. Piles of books surrounded him as he reclined his back on the couch. There was a throw pillow on his lap while above it was an opened book. She didn't want to disturb Marcus. Minerva wanted to quietly sit in front of him as he looked too immerse on what he was reading. But as soon as she saw the title of the books that was piled up, words subconsciously blurted out on her mouth. And before she could react, she had already questioned him."Oh?" Marcus raised his head and looked at her, "Which of these?""Those at the back." She answered as she pointed at the four piled up thick books who obviously looked worn out."Oh. I found that inside the box at the library's storage room. It was interesting hence I took it." Marcus nonchalantly answered. As he looked at Minerva who had a complicated look at the old books, he
"Dad, I heard that the faculty wanted to talk to you." Minerva said in a small voice once she managed to connect the communication device to her father.Although he admonished her earlier and they already made up, Minerva still spoke carefully at her father in case that his mood hadn't dampen yet."I see. I'd talk to them later." Her father answered which made Minerva hummed. She didn't know what to say next and it seemed that her father had felt her discomfort as he sighed."I'll just finish my things first and I'd head there. Take care, okay?""Yes, dad. You too."Minerva watched as the light of the stone began to wane until it appeared to be a common rock. She placed the stone on the table and sighed."Chill out. Nothing would happen to your father. The faculty were obviously just followed the protocols as Master had breached it. At most, he would need to compens
Minerva was looking at the window on her bedroom. She sat on the chair and leaned her body to the desk. Her right cheek rested on her right palm as she gazed outside. However, although she looked like busy admiring the chipping birds on the tree and the clear blue sky, she was actually immersed on her thought. Her father had already left after he talked to Claire and the board of directors. Although Minerva wanted to follow, her father had forbid her to do so. He also said that she didn't need to meet the board of directors when it wasn't necessary. And if they insisted, her father would make sure that they'd understand what "no" meant.Minerva couldn't help but let out a sigh. Her father didn't reprimand her for strolling around the academy. But since Zinnia hadn't returned yet and Marcus was nowhere to be found, she decided to stay here for the meantime."Minnie?" She heard Zinnia said after three consective knocks.
Santi just got home after he talked privately with Sora. With that, he found out thoroughly what actually happened on the day that Minerva and Zinnia was attacked. He couldn't help but purse his lips. He had eyed this organization for years yet he couldn't find anything. Adira had already helped yet the results were the same. Even Winter, the Pope of the Church of Larin, secretly sent out information about this unknown organization yet they couldn't find anything at all. Worse, Sora had been unable to track those three who attacked Santi, Kristina, and Minerva while they were on the Halen Empire ten years ago.Although they hadn't found anything despite their combined efforts, Santi had a little bit of an inkling on who might behind all of these. After all, nobody in this world was capable enough on hiding away from Sora's radar unless it wasthem. If it truly wasthem just like what Santi a
Out for Santi's courtesy, Marcus excused himself so Minerva and Santi could have a time to talk. Although the tension increased as soon as Marcus left, Minerva chose to remain silent and let her father vent out. After all, it was her fault that she didn't say a word about the incident."Minerva Chrysalis, didn't I tell you to report to me immediately if something had happened to you? We talked last night before you went to sleep, right? I asked you if something happened but you just told me that you and Zinnia went outside to stroll. Nothing more. And yet just this morning, Claire had talked to me about the attempted assassination that happened yesterday? When you and Zinnia went outside?"Minerva bit the bottom of her lips and lowered her head. She knew that her father would certainly be mad about her hiding this for him. However, now that she had faced his anger, she couldn't help but feel regret on her decision."Wh
The breakfast was over and Serena, Parker, and Sancho went home. Although Serena and Parker were sent together in a mission with Vernon and Hansel, it was also the same case for Sancho. He was sent into an A rank mission. Therefore, what was left was Minerva, Zinnia, and Marcus."Lady Zinnia, a student sent a message saying that the young lady was summoned by Professor Claire." A maid said after she knocked three times on the dining room."Ah? Okay." Zinnia stood up and looked at Minerva."I'll be back. If you want, you could go with Marcus.""It's fine. I'll just wait for you here." Minerva said with a smile. Then, Zinnia left leaving Minerva and Marcus."So…" Marcus began, "Uncle Santi didn't permit you to go outside the Larin Continent?""Huh?" Minerva took a bite from the cake before she answered, "I thought you already knew?""I had a h
