Chapter 97

Mia's POV

The darkness pressed down on me like a heavy blanket. Only it was weightless and infinite. It stretched on as far as I could see, and I felt so lost in it.

It was suffocating, and I felt a huge wave of fear crash over me as I wondered where I was.

Then, points of light appeared in the distance. Relief crashed over me with as much intensity as the fear had.

Thank goddess. Perhaps the light could lead me out of this suffocating darkness. But when I tried to move, I couldn't. In fact, I couldn't feel any part of my body.

It was like I had no body, just a formless soul floating in the darkness. As panic set in, the points of light increased in number and expanded, and soon, it was like I was looking at the night sky.

Only no night sky had stars in such an unnaturally beautiful formation. They twinkled and shone in the darkness, forming themselves into the formation.

I stared at the points of light in awe.

And then, as abruptly as they had come, they were gone, leaving me alone
