I tackle Kai to the ground and listen as what I thought was the grenade went off. I kept waiting for the shrapnel to hit me or for the heat to singe my fur, but nothing happens.
Instead, the putrid smell of wolfsbane fills the air and it stings my skin and eyes as it covers the ground. I hear Kai curse through the mind link before sending out a mass mind link telling everyone what’s going on so that they can clear out and get away from the field.
I mind link Kai: Make sure no one goes to the packhouse. That’s what they’re trying to do is corner us. We can’t get cornered, if we do then we're fighting a losing battle.
