"In the future, don't let Annie into my room. I don't like it."

Keelin acknowledged it quietly and placed the meal in front of Finn, guiding him to the location of the food. Afterward, she didn't rush to leave but handed Finn a small tube of burn cream, her elderly voice gently rising.

"This is the burn cream Sofia asked me to bring for you. She said, Your hand got burned."

With that, Keelin left the room, leaving Finn sitting in silence. He held the tube of cream in his hand, and his brow furrowed in deep contemplation, his thoughts a mystery.

Finn had been furious in the evening, so naturally, Annie didn't dare to approach him anymore. Annie lived as if she were invisible, having dinner with Keelin and then returning to her room. She didn't even dare to look straight ahead when passing by Finn's room.

Annie woke up early the next day, perhaps due to her habit of being busy in the past, so she wasn't used to idleness. Excessive free time made her feel somewhat out of place, so she stood up and went downstairs.

"Keelin, good morning."

Annie yawned as she greeted Keelin, who was busy making sandwiches, filling the air with a delightful aroma. Keelin noticed Annie coming downstairs, raised her head, and smiled, her gaze softening.

"Good morning, Sofia. Did you sleep well last night?"

Annie had already grown accustomed to being called Sofia, so she didn't react anymore. Annie casually stretched and sat down at the small table by the kitchen.

"I slept very well. The room had scented candles, so it smelled wonderful."

Keelin had been considerate, fearing that Annie might have trouble sleeping in an unfamiliar place. She had placed a jar of gently scented lavender candles in Annie's room, making it easier for her to fall asleep.

"That's good to hear. Here is your breakfast. Right now, I need to buy some ingredients for lunch. If Finn wakes up, could you please help me serve breakfast to him?"

Keelin pointed out the location of the chicken soup and the delicious-looking sandwiches in the oven. Annie nodded in agreement. After Keelin left, she happily dug into her breakfast.

Suddenly, Annie deeply understood Sofia's feelings in the past when she left with her father for her wealthy stepmother's home. Life with her mother had been difficult and impoverished, and her parents had agreed to take one child each after their divorce.

Sofia had always been pampered by Annie and her mother since childhood, so her decision to go with her father had been quite normal. Besides, the leisurely and comfortable life of an heiress, where she didn't have to worry about money, was a dream come true.

While Annie was lost in thought, Finn had also woken up and leaned against the staircase to descend. He slowly entered the kitchen, his voice slightly hoarse.

"Keelin, what do we have for breakfast this morning?"

Keelin had been a long-time maid in the household, and her exemplary behavior had earned her Finn's gracious demeanor. Annie, hearing Finn's voice, immediately rose to fetch him a portion of breakfast set on the table, then softly responded,

"This morning, we have sandwiches and chicken soup. Keelin went grocery shopping, so I've taken the liberty of fetching them for you. They're on the table, and if you don't mind, I can assist you in sitting down." Annie added the last part cautiously and quietly, observing Finn's expression closely, fearing he might erupt in anger. However, to her surprise, Finn displayed no such attitude. He responded with a gentle tone, asking Annie to guide him to a chair.

"The soup is still quite hot, so take it slow. Perhaps you should start with the sandwich."

Annie handed the sandwich to Finn and spoke in a soothing tone, as gentle as a soft breeze, pleasantly surprising Finn. He graciously thanked her and sat down to have breakfast, every movement deliberate and refined.

Annie watched Finn eat, her voice tinged with a hint of wanting to engage in conversation.

"In reality, I came here not to ridicule or pity your circumstances. I just believe that, in name, I am your fiancée, and thus, I should be here for you in times like these. I believe you need someone by your side, a companion."

"I moved into your house because I felt responsible to stay with you and look after you during this time."

"If you feel bothered, I apologize. But you don't need to worry; once your eyes can see as before, I will leave and won't make you uncomfortable anymore."

Finn's motion of drinking water slightly paused, and his face showed unusual emotions. However, before Annie could fully grasp the peculiarity in Finn's attitude, he responded with a simple, "Oh."

It seemed like a compromise, and it made Annie breathe a sigh of relief involuntarily. At least the days ahead would be easier, without the fear of Finn losing his temper and kicking her out.

After finishing his meal, Finn clumsily reached for the table and stood up, turning to leave. Annie hurriedly stood up as well, helping him clear the breakfast dishes.

"Thank you."

Annie wasn't sure if Finn was thanking her for helping him with breakfast and clearing the dishes or for being there with him now, but she was pleased either way. Initially, she thought everything might be difficult, but maybe things were gradually becoming more favorable.

A while later, Keelin returned, and the two prepared lunch together and had their meal. Annie still felt hesitant due to Finn's anger from the previous day, so she let Keelin bring the food to him as usual while she obediently sat and ate in the kitchen.

After finishing the meal, Annie cleared the table and had to go upstairs to change clothes to prepare for her afternoon shift at the restaurant. Even though Sofia had given her quite a bit of money to take a break from all the extra jobs, Annie regretted missing out on the quarterly and year-end bonuses, so she continued working and couldn't bring herself to quit.

As Annie reached the door, she coincidentally ran into Denis. They nodded at each other in greeting and walked inside together. Denis casually spoke first."Annie, you've been quite busy lately, haven't you? I heard from your mom that you're working a lot and don't have time to bring lunch to her every day like before."In the past, Annie used to cook or buy meals for Isolde for every meal. However, these past few days, due to moving to Finn's house, Sofia also requested that Annie spend more time with him, so she had to lie to Isolde, telling her that she had a busy job and had become a maid for a wealthy family, which required her to move in with them.Isolde's hospital bills were substantial every time, so Annie didn't inquire much about Annie's situation. She only reminded Annie to take care of herself and not to overwork."Yeah, I've been taking on more jobs lately to cover my mom's medical bills. "I'm sorry, I rushed to help you and didn't pay attention. It's my fault," Annie apologized softly.Finn continued to ascend the stairs in silence, acknowledging Annie with a low, appreciative grunt. His voice had a hint of gentleness that even he hadn't realized. Perhaps, at that moment, Finn no longer felt the same level of resentment towards Annie as he did when she had unexpectedly appeared at his house.Together, they descended to the ground floor, with Finn going straight to the kitchen, where he found a familiar water pitcher in the corner."Let me help you pour some water," Annie offered, pouring a glass for Finn and then serving herself one. They quietly sipped their water, exchanging no further words. Afterward, they silently made their way back to their respective rooms.Everything seemed unchanged on the surface, but there was a subtle shift in the hearts of both individuals.A few days later, Annie's life at Finn's home had gradually settled down, and at least Finn was n

Hubert went from being stunned to angry. He glared at Finn and Annie on the opposite side and then forcefully pushed his chair back, rising to his feet and raising his voice in frustration."Very well, Sofia. Let me see how long you and Finn can stay happy—a blind, untalented man and a money-hungry, unfaithful woman, such a fitting couple."After Hubert stormed off in anger, Annie let out a small sigh of relief. She realized she was standing close to Finn, her hand still casually resting on his hair. She quickly pulled her hand away and scratched her head, trying to explain herself."I just couldn't bear to see Hubert smug and taunting you," she continued."He wants to see you fall to satisfy his selfish desires. That's why I acted friendly towards you, to disappoint him."Annie's voice grew softer as she spoke, fearing Finn would resent her, but Finn merely responded with a quiet "Hmm" before saying, "Anyway, thanks for what you did, Sofia."Annie tilted her head slightly to look at

After Joyce returned, Isolde's topic ended, and Annie breathed a sigh of relief, seeking an excuse to leave. If she stayed a moment longer, Annie feared she wouldn't be able to contain her thoughts any longer.Back home, Annie rarely had the luxury of lounging on her bed to watch a movie. She usually didn't have the luxury of free time for such activities, so lying there for a while already made her feel restless. Annie stretched her shoulders and headed to the kitchen to warm a small slice of apple pie. After serving a portion to Keelin, she carried another piêc upstairs to Finn.Finn seemed to have a genuine liking for apple pie. When Annie had given him a piece earlier, he complimented it in a soft tone, even praising Annie's culinary skills.Annie stood outside Finn's room and lightly knocked on the door. After receiving Finn's permission, she entered. Finn sat in a corner of the room, cradling a guitar in his hands, lost in thought."I brought you a piece of apple pie. I placed

Hubert was about to retort when Tracy returned, abruptly ending the conversation. Tracy, a young and elegant woman, was Finn's stepmother, and now her hands filled with shopping bags from renowned local brands, indicating she had just returned from shopping. With Tracy's return, all of them sat down to have dinner. As Annie had anticipated, the atmosphere between Tracy, Ryan, and Hubert remained harmonious, but they entirely disregarded Finn during the meal.Annie couldn't help but sympathize with Finn, considering how he could be treated as an outsider. She couldn't imagine how Finn had coped with this situation before. As a result, Finn's distant and reserved nature didn't come as a surprise. Annie sighed and placed a piece of grilled chicken on Finn's plate, breaking the silence."Finn, give this grilled chicken a try. It's seasoned wonderfully and very delicious."Under the table, Annie lightly patted the edge of Finn's shirt, trying to lift his spirits in a cute and careful manne

In the evening, Finn and Annie sat together in the dining room, enjoying fruit and listening to recent popular songs. Only when it was time for dinner did they reluctantly join the rest of the invisible duo at the meal. The harmonious atmosphere between Tracy, Hubert, and Ryan went unnoticed by Finn entirely, who remained focused on finishing his meal and then departing. Annie, too, couldn't eat much, feeling the heaviness in the air, making it impossible to swallow her food. In the end, she ate only a small portion before following Finn.Back in their room, Annie found Finn still sitting motionless on the sofa. Ever since she moved into Finn's house, she had noticed that he often sat there lost in thought, with no discernible expression on his face.Annie didn't disturb Finn, she sitting in a corner of the room and playing a game with her headphones on to avoid causing any noise. After a while, noticing that Finn's rigid posture hadn't changed, Annie couldn't help but speak up."Finn

Annie returned to her room, and she and Finn shared some pastries. She savored each bite as she recounted the earlier conversation, noticing a subtle furrow in Finn's brow."Next time, don't argue with Hubert or Tracy," she cautioned. "Neither of them is particularly gracious, and if you provoke them, they might find ways to harm you.""I can't always be there in time to protect you," Finn replied. "You know, my inability to see everything is a limitation. You should be more cautious to avoid getting entangled in trouble."Annie nodded and promised to heed Finn's advice. She found his counsel quite sensible. It was remarkable how a woman with a husband and a son of her own could captivate Ryan, and how a son of the previous man of Tracy could succeed in winning Ryan's affection and becoming the heir, and certainly not through gentle means. After they finished their meal, Annie fetched a small tray and headed to the kitchen. Turning off the lights made everything around them appear more elusive and eerie, causing Annie to tense up. She didn't even dare to breathe normally. She always had this feeling that whenever she closed her eyes, the ghosts from the movie would draw nearer to her, and this thought successfully pushed her closer to Finn.Finn's calm and steady nature provided her with a great sense of security. Perhaps Finn had also noticed that Annie wasn't quite herself. After a while, he gently pulled her closer, like earlier when he had patted her back."It's okay, don't be scared. It's just part of the movie, not real." The warm body temperature and Finn's firm chest made Annie feel truly comforted. She snuggled closer to Finn, closed her eyes, and drifted off to sleep. As her fear subsided, Annie began to feel more relaxed. However, at this moment, her cheeks were tinged with a rosy hue. She had been too scared earlier to notice, but now she realized that Finn was holding her, and she was holdi

I'm not that good of a person, you know."Finn pondered for a long moment as if trying to discern whether Annie was telling the truth or merely trying to comfort him. Gently, she stroked his cheek again and softly asked,"And what about you, Finn? Do you love me?"Her sweet voice lured Finn into a daze, drawing him into the warmth of his own heart. Dazedly, he nodded, obediently."What do you think?"Finn mimicked her teasing tone, throwing the question back at her. Annie pouted."How would I know? Do you think there's a good chance he'll regain his sight completely?"Mike stroked his chin, pretending to be deep in thought."The treatment is going well. There's been some progress.""But lately..." He paused deliberately before continuing, "I've noticed that Finn's mood hasn't been great. He seems distracted, even during therapy."Mike carefully observed Annie's expression, and when he saw the flicker of worry cross her face, he felt satisfied. Then, with a grave tone, he added,"You're his fiancée, aren't you? Do me a favor and take care of him more, will you? If he's in good spirits and cooperates with the treatment, he'll recover his vision sooner."He even cleared his throat for emphasis, as if the matter were of utmost importance. I know everything."Finn had no intention of arguing with Annie, but her feigned ignorance only fueled the fire inside him. He pressed on."My friend saw you with his own eyes-having a romantic dinner with your so-called boyfriend on a yacht. "I'm wearing a short-sleeved, cream-colored dress. Why?"Finn frowned, clearly unimpressed. He shook his head."You should wear something a bit more eye-catching. When your mother bullied my fiancée, did any of you think that was too far?"With that, Finn fell silent. Hubert, too, said nothing, seemingly locked in an internal struggle, weighing the pros and cons. After a long pause, he finally let out a sigh."Fine. This weekend, take Sofia home with you. As for the family matters, leave them to me."Once Hubert had left, Finn turned to Annie and asked in a quiet voice,"Where were you just now? Were you meeting that friend who recently returned?"To keep Finn from growing suspicious, Annie had told him that a close friend had just come back to the country, so she had been meeting up frequently to reminisce about old times and show her around the city. Thankfully, Finn didn't seem to question it.He merely nodded in acknowledgment and said nothing more....Friday.It was a rare
