Alice's POV
As soon as I walked away so as not to be a third wheel, I found myself aimlessly roaming around the deck of the ship. There were lots of people around, mostly in groups of twos and above enjoying themselves as they talked and drank while some cozied up to each other, making the environment look lively, yet I felt lonely. Just 10 minutes away from my friend and I feel lonely. I really need to do something about this. Else I will end up having the most boring vacation. The night breeze blew on my exposed skin, making me shiver from it's cold, so I decided to go back to the room and get a shawl at least. The stairs that would lead to the rooms were on the other side, and in that moment that I made that decision, I turned to that direction and suddenly bumped hard into someone. The heel of my shoe turned making me lose my footing and almost giving into gravity. Luckily, whoever the gentleman was caught me before I fell on her butt and made a complete embarrassment out of myself. Shocked and embarrassed at the same time, I found myself staring into a pair of hazel green eyes which also seemed to stare at me. Who is this good looking gentleman? And why isn't he letting go? "Uhm, excuse me," I tapped on his shoulder as I balanced on my feet. "I think you can let go now." "Oh right, sorry," the man said almost immediately taking his arm from around my back and I stood up straight. "Are you alright though?" he asked. "Yeah, I'm fine," I nodded, taking a good look at him. He looked to be in his 30s as he stood at about 5'11 with a fit but non muscular build. His blonde hair was stylishly messy, drifting with the wind with thick strands swaying back and forth, to uncover hazel eyes that had warmth in them. He sports a simple white t-shirt with beige shorts and brown sandals. By the time I was done taking a good look, it seemed that he had done the same, making me look away in embarrassment. He saw my obvious embarrassment and laughed. "Are you here with someone?" "Yes. I'm here with my friend, but she's hanging out with someone right now." "Don't tell me she left you all alone to hang out with someone else." "No. I left on my own so as not to be a third wheel. What about you?" "I was hanging out with my cousin, but he changed his mind to do something else last minute." "The feeling must sick right?" "You get it. So why don't the two of us make the most out of this night? Make it a memorable one?" "Your idea of a memorable night isn't r rated is it?" "Absolutely not. Unless you want that, then I will be happy to make all your fantasies real," He winked, making me chuckle. "The name's Chris by the way," Chris extended his hand. "Alice," I replied, putting my hand in his. "Care for a dance Alice?" Chris held my hand and squeezed it lightly. "I heard they have a dance club and it's a short walking distance from here. I've had some drinks that I would like to shake off, and while at it, show you some of my best moves." "Ohh! I might just beat you at your own game," I said with a smirk. "Challenge accepted." * Zack's POV Not intending on getting myself drunk tonight, I looked around the bar, watching other people mingle. I was supposed to enjoy this trip with my now ex girlfriend, but instead, I found myself hanging out with my cousin who obviously doesn't want to be here but was forced to, and now he is trying to drink away his misery. Am I that bad of a companion? Would Emilia have enjoyed being out here with me? When did it all go wrong? Why... No I should get a grip on myself. I can't let thoughts like this keep getting into my head. She has probably forgotten about and is likely having the time of her life with her boyfriend. Then why should I be like this? I raised my glass, planning to gulp my drink in one go when something caught my eye and I stopped, focusing my gaze on it. It was slight, and for a split second, but I was sure I wasn't drunk enough to be seeing things. At the corner, the guy, now satisfied with what he had done, raised his hand from over the drink before passing it over to his female companion who was obviously unaware of what had just happened to the drink, telling her to take it. Luckily, his companion said know. Obviously not interested in the conversation, but the guy kept on a fixed expression while insisting. With the noise at the bar, and the distance between us, I couldn't hear what they were saying, but it was obvious that the woman rejected the drink as she stood up, and I found myself sighing in relief when all of a sudden he grabbed her arm, stopping her from moving. With that fixed smile, it would look to any onlookers who weren't paying attention that they were having a simple conversation and having fun with each other, but the woman's face showed discomfort. "Whoa," Chris beside me gasped in amusement. "Don't tell me you've got your eyes set on that woman waiting for her to be alone to take your chance. You sure move on fast," he laughed tipsily. "Hey Chris, look closely," I nudged him. "I believe the girl's in trouble. That guy keeps insisting she takes the drink. I have a very bad feeling about this." "What are you going to do about it then? Be her night in shining armor and save her from having a drink? She's at a bar for damn sake." Chris complained. "No, I literally saw him slip something into that drink. What if..." I trailed off, thinking of all the possibilities. "Just leave them have their fun. Why do you insist on being a good samaritan all the time? You are not even at work right now," Chris sounded annoyed. "Why is he not letting go of her? I really think I should do something about this," I placed my drink on the counter and stood upright. Not bothering to listen to what Chris was saying I headed to the corner where the couple was seated. But as I moved closer to the two. Things started to look a little bit different. For one, the woman didn't look uncomfortable. Instead she looked annoyed at the man who wouldn't let go of her, and just when I thought she was going to tell him off, she let out a smirk, as she clutched onto a shiny object. A minute more and the guy would be the one in trouble."Hey, why don't you let go of this lady right here," Zack cut straight to the chase. "It doesn't look like she wants to be in your company right now. Right?" Zack looked at Rose, waiting for her to say something, but she just looked at him weirdly."Huh," Jacob snorted. "And who are you?" he said voicing out his hostility, his face no longer expressing kindness. "I believe this is none of your business. So why don't you mind your business and just let us be? The lady and I are just having a date."Zack looked at Jacob who didn't seem ready to let go, then at Rose who now had a smirk on her face, her eyes sparkling with mischief. Just watching the show that was no longer about her and waiting to see how it will unfold.'You chose to interfere. Let's see how you go through with it'. Her eyes spoke."Come on man, let's not do this," Zack placed his hand on the man's shoulder before leaning right next to his ear and whispering. "I saw when and what you slipped into that drink. If I'm lyin
Third person point of viewThe following morning, Rose slowly started to wake up. Her eyes still closed, memories of the previous night flooded into her head, making her smile, and for the first time in her life, Rose found herself extending her hand, trying to reach the person that would be lying next to her, thinking of all the things she would like to do to them."Rose? Are you alright?" A voice called out her name. But it wasn't the voice she was expecting, making her frown. "Rose are you still sleeping? Wake up."Rose felt herself being shaken awake by delicate hands, and she quickly opened her eyes confused, and when she found Alice looking at her with worried eyes, she looked around the room once again.Still confused, Rose raised the sheets and peeked in only to find herself fully dress as she was the other night. The realization that part of the 'supposed memories' were her imagination and likely 'dream' made her feel disappointed in herself."I didn't know you could move lik
Third person POV.As the two had breakfast and on their way to the duty free shopping on jewelry, clothing and souvenirs, Rose kept looking around hoping she would catch a glimpse of him amongst the people that were passing by them."What do you think of this one?" Alice appeared in front of her, distracting her from her thoughts.Rose was seated on a bench at the back of the clothing store where the dressing rooms were located. She looked at Alice who was now wearing a t-shirt with 'I've discovered a new me' written on the it, paired with a black flowy skirt, a black tote bag slung on her shoulder."The skirt looks nice, but the shirt is a bit cringe," Rose commented on the outfit."I totally like it because of the writing. I'm going to get this," Alice decided, tracing the pattern on her new shirt. "What about you?" she looked at Rose. "You should get something for yourself. How about a new hat?" she suggested."Nah, I think I will prefer some jewelry. Probably a bracelet," Rose sto
12 years ago.Third person POVIt was a hot summer afternoon and Rose had just come out of the school counselor's office when she decided to get a drink from the school cafe. The past few days weren't easy for her as she was currently working on what courses she should add and what activities would add more to her portfolio.Rose entered the not so busy café wearing a floral summer dress with sunglasses and a summer hat before settling on a chair and that was when the waitress came in in a simple shirt and jeans.Rose had been noticing her for the past few weeks. It wasn't just the girl's beauty or her radiant smile that caught Rose's attention. It was her air of confidence with a layer of innocence and her ability to lit up a room and bring it out of boredom which was what Rose needed in her life at the moment.Alice was a popular girl in the college and not because she was rich or the smartest. No, she was the kind of person who made everyone feel comfortable around her. When Rose e
*A week later and Rose was finally done registering her new courses. It was a hard decision for Rose but it was necessary. But after Nana passed away only Rose was the direct heir to the Gabrielle Enterprises, and if she doesn't step up and take over, who will?Mr. Montreal apparently. And not just him, even the maids had their little plan to take over the house while Rose was mourning the lost of her grandparents. It's kind of funny how everyone appears so loyal until that very day when your weakness shows and the chameleons start to show their real color.Rose walked into the the business and finance department with her bag strapped over her left shoulder and her time table on her right hand unsure, of which floor or direction class BSC 7 would be.She watched the other students as they scurried to get to their respective classes as it was only a few minutes to 8am.And that was when Rose spotted her. Unlike the other students that rushed, Alice was seemingly taking something from h
Alice's point of viewAs we disembarked the ship along with other people, I kept looking around hoping to catch a glimpse of Chris. We never got each other's contacts and I was hoping to at least get to say goodbye."Hey, Cade is that way," Rose nudged me, pointing towards Cade who was standing by the car in sunglasses and pressing his phone."Cade looks really good today, don't you think?" Rose asked when I didn't say anything."I don't know, I shrugged as we headed towards him. Looks the same like always to me," I shrugged.Cade looked up and spotted us, rushing forward to take our suitcases and load them into the trunk before going to open the door for Rose. But instead of getting in, Rose went to the other side, opened the door herself and got in.Cade went there awkwardly, as myself stood there wondering why she did that when she rolled down her window and called through."Get in Alice, don't let Cade hanging like that."I couldn't understand the meaning behind that, but I got in
Kimberly's POVI gulped the rest of my coffee down, setting the cup by the side before staring at my screen in a blank manner, not sure where to start my work from."Hey Kim," Erin called out my name and I looked up to find her standing over me with a concerned expression. "What's up with you? Everyone is happy after holiday but you look kind of cranky right now," Erin commented and I sighed."My sister Em moved in with me, but since she is in her finals, she is being more of a leech. Taking some of my stuff and then coming back home late at night. It seems like she's in a new relationship and not concentrating on her finals which is kind of stressing me out as the older sister," I vented."Ooh. Must have been hard. Your space is already small as it is. How's your father doing by the way?" Erin sympathized."Well, he's seen better days," I shrugged it off as if it was nothing although it bugs me every now and then."But what happened to your sister's boyfriend? I thought she lived wit

At the office, Kimberly stared into space, her eyes bloodshot and barely blinking."Excuse me. Hey. Miss Wells? Are you alright? Boss," Noah called out to her, but even her favorite title was not enough to bring her out of her thoughts, until Noah banged on her desk and she almost jumped out of her seat, startled.Kimberly blinked before looking at Noah who was looking at her, concern clearly written on his face."Are you okay boss?" Noah asked once again."Oh yeah. I'm fine. Totally. Why do you ask?" Kimberly asked, staring at him."It's just that, I have been calling out to you for some time now. You look like you haven't slept a wink for the past week," Noah commented, and true to his word, Kimberly did look a bit disheveled. She no longer looked as neat as she used to be when she first became a manager."Oh, I've just been really busy is all," Kim shrugged it off. "I'm the boss here, and we've already sent our proposal to the best company out there. I'm just hoping they respond to
The sound of clicking heels resounded through the large office as she entered, and the smell of her perfume greeted the workers. Some of them turned their heads towards her, greeting her with polite smiles.Kimberly answered back with the same energy, feeling on top of the world.Dressed in a black leather skirt and red blouse that matched her red lipstick, Kimberly swayed her head to the right, her curly brown hair moving with the same motion.Satisfied with herself, Kim went to her seat as the head of the office and sat down and soon after, some of her team members started submitting their files.Kimberly collected the files and assured them that she would look over them. After that, she called some of the members who had already submitted their files and showed them what needed to be corrected and when to resubmit the files.Having finished doing that in two hours' time, Kim went through her desk, looking for a particular file but which was nowhere to be found."It has been two wee
With John now gone, Zack finally settled down in his new, spacious and well-furnished office, with the windows overlooking the busy city. Not only were the computers and furniture latest, but the office even had a fridge containing all sorts of drinks, a coffee machine and then a snacks cabinet.Zack had just sat in his comfy chair when a knock came on the door, and he gave permission for the person to enter. The door opened and a young man walked in, seemingly in his early twenties, and he had a goofy smile on as he awkwardly walked towards Zack."And who might you be?" Zack asked the unfamiliar face."I am Nicolas Coleson and I will be your secretary slash assistant from today on," the guy introduced rather excitedly."You look too happy for someone who got assigned to work for someone like me," Zack noted."Well, even though you are a hit or miss, a college dropout like myself could never imagine I would get to the top so soon from being a mere clerk," Nick said, and Zack's mouth d
As the meeting went on, Zack listened attentively to what everyone had to say, mentally making notes. Everyone, including Chris, had a thing or two to say, and after an hour and a half, the meeting was finally concluded."Now before we go," Mrs. Vaughn brought everyone's attention to the sore topic once again. "As some of you here know, Zack once worked here, and he had such great potential, and that is why I didn't hesitate to bring him back. But the consequence of his past decision is that he only gets to start all over again. His presence here is merely formalities to introduce him back here. Some of you here have worked with him, and some of you have heard of him, I am sure. So what do you think about this old woman's decision?" Mrs. Vaughn said authoratively, although her last question made it sound like she was asking for their suggestion. The room was quiet for a second, with everyone processing her words and unsure how to attempt to answer her tricky question."How could we po
"Hello, Zack. Long time no see."Mr. Walker, a man in his early sixties, looking immaculate in his striped suit, his grey-tinged hair stylishly pushed back, walked in, then looked around at the tiny storage that was supposed to be Zack's office."As if finding you wasn't hard enough, I come to this," Mr. Walker said, looking at Zack."What do I say? Welcome to my humble office," Zack said plainly."Humble would be a compliment," Mr. Walker grimaced. "Even though you are starting from scratch, I must say that this place is kind of far-fetched. Does someone have a grudge against you or something?""Please state your business here. As you can see, I have a lot going on for me right now.""Ouch!" Mr. Walker faked offense. "Given our history, you must not be happy to see me here. But as someone who has been your mentor for years and only wishes the best for you, I must say that this is an embarrassment. But I guess you can't be lucky twice.""I doubt. You must be happy to see me like this.
Zack's POVI stood in front of the huge building, different emotions going through me.I remembered the time I came here as an intern, full of dreams and hopes and how diligently I worked, while making up my mind about the accomplishments I would strive for once I became a full-time employee. Then, of the time I came here fresh off after graduation in a suit and tie with well polished leather shoes and a briefcase. But now I stand in front of this building once again, and I am not sure what I want anymore. How has this place been after all these years? Is it right to come here at all?Chris turned to look at me with a smirk that expressed his calmness at the whole situation, making me realize that I was now the stranger here."Goodluck at the meeting Bro," Chris said with a salute before turning and sauntering into the building as if it was his home, most of the workers greeting him with a familiar smile as he passed by them, and he answered each one of them while acknowledging them.
Third-person POVZack woke up to the loud shrill of his alarm tone.Picking his phone up, he turned off the alarm before sitting up and wiping his face with his hands.Today, Monday has finally come. When Zack will be reintroduced by his grandmother to the company where he will be working in once again.Zack remembered Chris' words when he told him he was planning to resume work. Since then, they hadn't talked much, and in front of the family, the two would pretend as if everything was normal between them.Getting up from his bed, Zack went straight to the bathroom to do his morning routine, after which he brushed his teeth and took a shower.Coming out, Zack walked to his closet and came out wearing a black suit. He was about to start wearing his tie when a knock came on his door.Zack thought without a doubt that it would be his mother, but when he opened the door, he found his sister, Sawyer, instead."Sawyer, hey," Zack said awkwardly."Hi," the girl replied shyly. She was in her
"Hahaha," I found myself laughing instead saying a direct answer. It's not like I had a good answer for her anyway, at least not the answer she would like to hear. "Erin, why are you getting so emotional on such a good day?" I said squeezing her hands and Erin looked at me with a smile and so much hope in her eyes that I wanted to look away. "Come on, let's do our best today. And after work, we can go out like you wanted. My treat."Erin's smile faltered a bit but she nodded anyways. "Okay. I get to choose where we go to.""Sure. Let's get back to work," I said opening the door and we both got out together."You know what?" I said, turning to look at Erin. "I think I need to go to the bathroom real quick. Why don't you go ahead and I will catch up in a few minutes?" I said to Erin."Sure," She answered in a low tone.Without waiting another moment, I rushed in a different direction, going straight to the ladies' room. When I entered. I put the file by the sink and stared at myself thr
