"When Cameron said you'd come running back to me, I didn't think it would be this soon."
Blair stood next to the couch with her hands crossed. She could not believe this was happening; just the other day she was in MJ Billings' office begging her not to have her license revoked, and now it was MJ begging for help.
Blair was never the type to turn away someone when they desperately needed her help, but for the first time ever, she was contemplating to. She still remembered how MJ treated her when she went to her office to ask not to have her license revoked, how she had desperately pleaded for her not to ruin her career over a misunderstanding.
But that never stopped her. She had not practiced for more than two years now, and had lived off her pension money which was slowly running out.
MJ Billings had proved who she really was when she made sure that no one would
"Long night?" Blair asked, standing against the kitchen counter while sipping on coffee.MJ was seated on the couch with her face buried in her hands. She was still in the red suit from the previous day, now wrinkled and stained with makeup. Her hair which was previously tied into a neat bun was now loose and messy like a cave woman. She looked exhausted from the dramatic night she had.Blair sighed and placed her mug down. "Listen, uhm...About last night, I might have been a bit harsh on you. What do you say we start on a new slate?"MJ lifted her head with a deep breath. "Blair, I–""How about you take a shower first, I still have some of your clothes from your previous visits. I'll prepare breakfast while you shower." She did not leave any room for argument. Knowing MJ, she was most likely going to turn down her offer because she was afraid to confront h
'I want you to find direction in your life, I want you to get back on the road you lost. Isn't that what you want?'She pondered over the question, she had been trying to live a normal life all these years, but she had no idea how.She feared being normal, which was why she always found a way to push away anyone that tried to get closer to her.The reality of getting attached to someone and having them in her life constantly, scared her. She was comfortable with Cameron being that person, but she got too close to him and now she was paying the price. She felt empty without him, it was as though he held access to every single door in her life, and now he had left them all wide open, allowing for cold air to seep through. The world was too congested without him to tell her to take it easy. She just hoped he was safe wherever he was, he was probably on his way
"I wasn't expecting you to come back so soon after the way you left this morning," Blair said as she closed the door behind her.MJ headed for Blair's office, but not before muttering, "Yeah, me neither."Blair sighed and went to the kitchen to prepare a light meal. "Would you like anything to eat or drink?" She yelled, but continued anyway when MJ declined her offer. "That girl hates food. What woman in this century doesn't like food?" She muttered to herself. She finished up and placed the platters and juice on the tray before taking them to MJ. "Lunch is served." She sat down, not leaving any space for argument.MJ knew she was not going to start with the session until she has eaten something. To Blair's satisfaction, MJ finished her food and had a bit from Blair's plate. After they were done eating, their session started. Within the
The first thing MJ did when she arrived at work the next day was to check with Brianna if she had anything on Cameron, but she was not yet in and her team were not aware of the situation. It had completely slipped her mind that Brianna was married and had children, and that she had to put up the identity of a real estate agent to her family while at the same time, catering for both her family and the company. They obviously still had a long way to go.After an hour, the building started to pile up as all the employees returned from the sister branch. It was a sight to behold as MJ felt the air rush into her lungs, it was as if her building had come to life and was breathing again. Chatter and murmurs rose, and for the first time ever, she did not mind the noise.MJ had resorted to coming to work much earlier than everyone again, and the empty desks where both Anita and Samantha used to res
She never thought she would turn out to be one of those people who buried themselves in work to avoid their problems, but here she was, running around the restaurant like she was preparing for the president's visit.Latest developments in her divorce process had forced her to move out of her house since the paparazzi was bugging her, not to mention her parents' constant calls to come home. She had been avoiding them like the plague. They were making a lot of demands regarding her divorce, and they were putting her under pressure to strip Kyle of everything he had. Everyone was under the impression that he betrayed her, little did they know that they both played a hand in everything that happened. She could not believe things spiraled out of control so fast, and it was all because of that woman. She ruined everything, and it was all because Kyle could not keep his eyes off her, and Sne was
Jorge knew he had messed up. He had sleepless nights thinking about it ever since it had started, but that didn't give Logan the right to discredit their friendship. He loved him like a brother, and he knew it.He would do anything to protect his friendship with Logan just as much as he would do anything to protect his sister, he just got caught in both situations this time.He wished things had never gotten this far, he should never have let it get this far. He had been trying to keep MJ and Logan oceans apart, and it had worked for the longest time until now. There was a lot going on in his life, and he did not know where he stood. He was still waiting for his girlfriend to get back to him regarding his proposal. He cringed at the thought, that was not exactly a proposal, it was an ambush. Now he wished he could call her and tell her he did not want
The tension in the room was unbearable. The two families that were once united, sat on opposite ends of the table, looks and harsh words thrown from both sides.Kyle could not believe that just a few weeks ago, they were sharing a table and having dinner at his parents' house while going down memory lane and laughing.Slurs and insults were being thrown around, and the longer they stayed, the worse things got.Kyle looked at his watch for the nth time. It was 1p.m., and Jorge was still not here. He threw Sne a worried look, she did not want to be here as much as he did."Maybe I should call Jorge again to check how far he is," she said abruptly and stood up."Yeah, do that," Kyle agreed.S’negugu picked her phone and left the boardroom, but not before sharing an anxious glance with Kyle.
"This had better be good," Javier Mendoza said sternly as he strode into McEnroe Construction Company with Aaron Jr by his side as they headed for the elevator."I wouldn't have called you if it wasn't important," Aaron said begrudgingly.Javier had still not recovered from his ambush, and on top of that, he still had to figure out how to bury twenty-five bodies unnoticed. This was exactly why he never recruited men with families or responsibilities, because if shit got real, nobody would notice. This was what kept him out of prison for the longest time, but he was not so sure anymore, especially after the beautiful stranger. His blood boiled every time he thought of her, especially since his thoughts always drifted off to dangerous places. He could not stop thinking about her, and that alone bothered him.He had been trying to locate her for days, but had no suc
Everyone had a different opinion on what the greatest moments in life are. From someone reaching a certain, graduations, having a first child, getting married, or buying a new car... Those were great achievements if one came from nothing, but that was never the case for her.She came from a well-off family, she never lacked anything, and by the time she reached the age of eighteen, she had already begun paving her own path in the world. The greatness she had come to embrace, was standing tall in front of her enemies, with the knowledge that she would ruin them. Samantha Grayson loved the thrill, the threats, the blood, and the chase; and nothing excited her more than facing new challenges. She always wondered what it was about Cape Town that had Jorge running home every other week besides the skirt he left behind, but after finding out about MJ's kidnapping and recent events, she knew she wanted to see it for herself.
Logan thought he knew what had gone wrong, but as each day passed, he ran out of ideas of what might have happened. But from the way Cameron had urged him to investigate the matter, he was keeping himself under control from bursting out in anger. He had thought of all possible reasons why MJ ended up in hospital that night, but no one backed him up. He remembered that Reina and Jorge were there that night; he tried to talk to them then, but they did not give him answers.Everyone was telling him that it would be better if he asked MJ himself, but after everything she put him through, he did not want to speak to her or see her ever again. And if it were not for his brother's persistence, he would not have reached out to her, especially after she was openly hostile when he called her.He could still remember how her voice reverberated with hatred when she asked him where he had gotten
After the cryptic message she received the other night, Sasha was never able to sleep again. She spent all night trying to imagine what could be in store for her, and every time she closed her eyes, she saw MJ damaging her face.By the time her alarm rang the following, she was exhausted; the only thing she remembered about that morning was saying goodbye to Demi. She remembered going to Beaufort West in a meter taxi, to the address provided by MJ Billings, and she remembered finding the house and someone opening the door for her, and that was it. She had no memory of the person or how she ended up in the house, she just woke up and found herself tied to a chair drilled in a deep, empty pool located in what looked like an underground parking lot.Her clothes were taken off, and she was left in only her underwear. The place was cold, there was no heat coming
MJ knew she never made the best decisions under rage, but that never stopped her.The anger was nothing new to her, but the pain that came with it was brutal. She thought she had played Logan, that she had the upper hand all this time, while she was the one who fell straight into his trap.He used her most vulnerable side to deceive her, because he knew her past would always haunt her.She wondered what he would do if he knew the rest of the story, she remembered telling Blair how she feared how Logan would look at her once he knew her darkest truths, but now she was more worried about what he would do instead; would he device another plan to deceive her?The first thought after leaving that restaurant was to call Blair and tell her what happened, but she did not want to feel vulnerable again and find herself confessing things she feared to admit even to he
As much as Logan had anticipated seeing MJ Billings again, he did not expect it to be so soon, especially after their last conversation on the phone. He was convinced that it would take months and a miracle for her to make another stop in Cape Town, and he was okay with that.He knew she was back over a week ago, but thought it best to stay out of the way, because he feared that she would catch on to the guilt in his eyes. The day she walked into his office with Sonya marked a beginning of a new era in his life, one too many times he was convinced that perhaps they could look past their differences and their past and start afresh, he believed they could be happy. But if their issues remained unresolved, they would never move forward. It was even worse now with the mess his sister got him into, not to mention that he led to Jorge's attack. He could see that it was
The last thing Logan needed at this point was to interact with other humans. Antonina respected that even though be was in her home, but his brother on the other hand did not understand what it meant to give someone some space.Antonina left early in the morning to get the café ready for its opening day, while Logan decided to go to work late, he was not even ready yet.It had not even been twenty-four hours since their movie night, and Logan was not ready to face him again. The first time he saw that footage, he was devastated, he felt hurt and betrayed. He still wished he had not opened that video after Jackson gave him that memory stick, but curiosity got the best of him.Antonina's house was the best hideout, no one knew he was there and no one would ever guess that he was there. At least that was what he thought until Cameron showed up on his doorstep
Logan arrived in his home tired. It was around 8p.m., he had made sure that he was the last one to leave the office especially since it was spring and days were longer. He always left his office at 7p.m. when the sun set.Nodding at the butler as a form of greeting, he entered his house and walked to his sitting room, and his steps faltered as he took in the picture in front of him, and his blood boiled. Dirty dishes were on the coffee table, unfinished food and food crumbs covered his table. There were dirty socks on the large couch and empty cans covered the floor. "CAMERON!" He barked as he took heavy steps up the stairs. He dropped his suitcase and jacket on his bed before he strolled out of his room to continue the search for his brother. "CAMERON!" He barked and pushed Cameron's door harshly, causing it to bang against the wall, and then he froze at the door, pursing his lips together. Cameron jumped out
The place was quiet.Too quiet for her comfort. She tried to open her eyes, but something restricted her from doing so. She had been blindfolded. She tried to move, but her arms and legs were bound. She tried to think of a solution, but nothing came up. For the first time in her life, she felt stupid. She felt useless. All her life, she had proven to be able by herself. She had proven that she did not need anyone to achieve her goals, neither did she need anyone to come to her rescue, especially men. However, on the contrary, it was quite the opposite. "Jorge!" She whispered, her voice inaudible from fear. She took a deep breath, the smell of urine and dirty water hitting her nostrils and causing her to cringe and choke on her saliva. She coughed, the process not helping at all as she tried to stabilize her breaths. Oh, Jorge! Whe
As usual, Parker's Enterprises was busy. The ground floor was packed with employees moving up and down. Mosetsana and Natalia stood behind the reception desk, but had a new companion. It was a young looking coloured girl, probably around 20. She had shoulder-length black hair and big brown eyes. Unlike the two other women, she was very active and fast, and spoke too much. First day at work, and Natalia and Mosetsana were already tired of hearing her stories. "I'm just gonna take these to Mr Parker." She said hastily and hurried to the elevator.Natalia buried her face in her palms and groaned. "When is this day ending?!" She whined and looked at Mosetsana who just sighed and gave her the tell-me-about-it look."Thank God, it's lunch time." Mosetsana said and started packing her things. Natalia just sighed and nodded. She placed her elbow on the desk and leaned against her arm, staring at the door boringly as some of her col
