Ondina
‘Writer's block is a real thing’. Ondina thought as she stared helplessly into the glowing screen of her laptop, while simultaneously running her fingers over the keyboard. Yes! We are back in business people! She began to continue writing her latest novel when suddenly, her laptop froze. Trying to solve the problem, she continuously tapped the Esc button. "Are you fucking serious right now?" Pushing her laptop in frustration, it slid off the end of her bed in a loud thud. She nervously peered other the bed. ‘Please don't be broken. PLEASE!’ She reached over the end of her bed to retrieve her now possibly damaged laptop; slowly opened it. ‘Yes!’ Grateful her laptop was still in perfect condition; she cradled it to her bosom. If this one broke it would have been her third laptop this year she would have had to replace. The first one was stolen, and the second was accidentally dropped in the bath- ‘I know it was stupid to even have it in there to begin with.’ She placed her laptop back on her lap and resumed writing her mystery novel.... "[ There was a letter entangled in the victim's hands.... "Are you sure that's a good idea?"... a woman in a yellow raincoat .... Time stood still as....]" Ondina was overflowing with new experiences for her characters and became lost inside of her own mind. A knock on the door pulled her away from her imagination. She shut her laptop and set it on the night stand to the right of her bed. "It's open." She said just loud enough for whomever on the other side of the door to hear. The door clicked open and in came Camille. "Hey Onny, whatcha doin?" Camille asked. Ondina and Camille had been best friends sense grade school. Total opposites but very alike in more ways than one. "Nothing new just writing a mystery novel, and so fare I've got a novel of writers block and six pages of genius." She replied, her voice smother in sarcasm. "So that's a real thing? I thought people just say it to be fancy." Camille asked, with a confused look on her face. "Yeah Camie, we writers just make up stuff like writers block to make us sound all sophisticated and what not." "Oh, shut up. Have you ever thought of getting your books published? You're an amazing writer." "You know, I can't say that it crossed my mind." Ondina said sarcastically. "Haha. Very funny. But you are really good. I would buy your books." "Yeah, cause you’re my best friend. Publishing books cost money. Money that my salary cannot afford." "Uh, no, that is not the only reason, and you wouldn't have to worry about it if you had just taken the job at Time Magazine." Camille was always nagging her about turning down the opportunity to work for Time Magazine. Ondina didn't have the heart to tell Camie her real reasons for settling as a server at Dominick's. ‘Poor Camie wouldn't be able to handle it.’ Her mind wondered back to the day of her interview.... * * * * * * ‘Just a few more blocks and I'm there.’ Ondina looked out the window, staring at angry faces and giggled to herself. ‘How could anyone be so angry on a good day like today?’ The taxi pulled up to Time Magazine, and her heart started to pound. Just breathe. In and out. She had to mentally straddle herself. Excitement was seeping out of her pours, perfuming the air. She tipped the taxi driver and climbed out the back seat. Walking in only brought more excitement. A woman who looked like she could have been on the cover of Vogue sat behind the front desk; name tag reading [Hello, I'm Jennifer, I can help...] Resume in hand, ready to nail it, Ondina walked over to the woman with a trained smile on her face. "Hello, welcome to Time Magazine, how can I help you?" Jennifer said in a sing song tone. "Hi. I'm Ondina Somerfield, I'm Mr. Griffins 2:30." "Oh yes. Perfect he's been waiting. Go straight ahead, it's the first door to your right." She thanked the woman and started down the hall. While approaching the door, readying to knock, the door flung open. "Screw you, you ass hole!" A woman with long brunette hair in designer clothing spat the words out over her shoulder like it was poisonous venom as she graciously exited the room. Ondina stood in the door frame suddenly nervous. ‘Was she here for an interview too? Is he really that horrible?’ "Ah. You must be my 2:30. Come in." Mr. Griffin announced as if he had not just been disrespected a few seconds ago. Snapping out of her thoughts, she hurried in the room moving faster than she intended. "Please, have a seat." She sat down in one of the chairs across from him. Plopping down noisily. ‘Come on get it together Ondina just stick with the program!’ She said to herself. "Ok, let's begin." Mr. Griffin said with a hard look on his face. * The interview went a whole lot better than she thought and she was finally starting to feel like her life would be looking up. She couldn't be anymore wrong. Heading for the front door, she heard her name being called in a voice she could never forget. "Ondina, is that you?" Pausing in mid step, she slowly turned around. It was him. The man who ruined her senior year. The man who caused her family to disown her. The man who took everything from her. Her heart began to pound so hard; she could feel it in her neck and ears. ‘Why is he here? Oh no! He's coming.’ "How have you been? It's been what, 5 years?" Mason announced, walking casually towards her with the same confidence she used to think was attractive, it only left her stomach in nervous knots. Ondina could feel an anxiety attack coming on. ‘I'm gonna throw up. I need air. Please stop walking. Don't come over here. Why is this happening?!’ Ondina thought as Mason continued to walk towards her. "How's your dad doing? Did he ever finish renovations? I bet your mom..." His voice started to fade out as her vision zeroed in on his hands. Those hands. One rested casually at his side, while the other hid in his pocket. Feeling trapped, Ondina ran out the entrance doors. Running right into chest and arms. She bounced off of the tall male, knocking herself to the ground, causing the back of her head to smack against the pavement. “Ugh! What's - ouch!” Pain spiked through her temples and the bridge of her nose, making her vision blurry. "Miss, are you ok? " She heard the males voice say with concern. She stayed lying on her back, trying to blink back her vision. "I'm gonna try and sit you up, ok?" The male voice said again. Strong hands gently tugged at her shoulders. As she sat up, excruciating pain shot through her head and neck causing her entire body to heat up like a furnace. "I'm gonna throw up" Ondina announced. Within seconds, she threw up all over the poor guy's shirt. ‘Oh no! I'm so sorry.’ As she tried to form the words to say out loud, she became dizzy. Afraid she might pass out; she grabbed onto the stranger's wrists; attached to hands that were still gently holding her up. "It's ok, just breathe." The man spoke again in a soothing voice. For some reason she did exactly what he said. She started breathing, calming herself. Opening eyes she hadn't realized she closed, she looked up at the man's face. Her vision was still fuzzy but not as bad as before. ‘He's so handsome...’ Russet brown eyes looked back at her. He was definitely breath taking. His dark hair was a little long like he was due for a haircut, but the length complimented him. His facial hair outlined his jaw and lips naturally, perfectly to the shape of his full lips in the shape of an anchor. "Do you think you can stand up, miss?" He asked with a look of worry, causing his naturally arched eyebrows to form an alliance. "I can try." Ondina finally replied. He let his hands gently slide down her arms from her shoulders to her hands. She looked at his hands. ‘Why are you so perfect man? Even your nails are perfect!’ He gently gripped her hand. In acceptance, she grabbed onto his for dear life. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-" she started to say. "Don't worry about it." He smiled. "Happens all the time." His voice flowed playfully. She was beginning to like his voice. Wow! I must have hit my head really hard. "We should get you seen." The man stated. * The EMS ride was full of questions and awkward glances passed around. Once they arrived at the hospital, he stayed with her the entire time. Asking questions when needed and answering them as well. Ondina apologized countless amount of times for the mess on his shirt, and he repeatedly apologized for not being careful, as if he ran into her. ‘Now ain't that something?’ Four hours later, the poor guy even offered to take her home. Giving that Ondina did not have a vehicle, she accepted his offer. Standing in front of her apartment door, she turned to the handsome stranger. "Thank you, for today. And again, I'm so sorry for ruining your shirt."Ondina stated. "No need to apologize, accidents happen." The handsome male replied with the sweetest smile. They both stood there in silence for a while looking into each others eyes. Breaking the silence, he said. "You know. I never even asked your name." It was a silly thing to say given the stay at the Hospital. The nurses and doctors repeatedly said her name and he gave his name as well, but she couldn't stop herself from repeating him. "I haven't even asked you yours..." Ondina replied. "Raphael Lahsen" a genuine smile caressed his face. Ondina cheeks turned hot, validating her blush. "Ondina Somerfield." " I hope to see you around miss Somerfield." And with that Raphael was gone.Ondina "Are you even listening?" Camille asked in frustration."I'm sorry what did you say? ""I said we are going out. You know with music and drinking and dancing?" Camille said with annoyance."What? I have work in the morning. I can’t go out!" "Oh, come on! It's not like your gonna get fired! You're the best server they got and Brian knows it! Now come on I got the perfect outfit for you." Camie grabbed onto Ondina’s wrists and yanked her off the bed. They walked down the hall to Camille's room. "Just so you know, I'm only going because I feel like it. Not, because you told me I had to." She announced as they arrived at her bedroom door. There was just about every shade of pink that decorated camie's room. Though it was expected, knowing pink was camie's favorite color, it still baffled her every time she entered this pink madness."You seriously need to lay off the pink Camie. Seriously, too much pink can cause seizures." She states as a matter of fact. "Ha. Ha. You made a fu
Ondina"You said this was a club...... this is more like... A fancy jazz lounge or something....." Ondina stated as they walked into a banquet room with small groups of people dressed in elegant attire scattered around. Feeling out of place, she hugged herself. People were standing around tall tables or sitting on sofas. A woman in a cream mermaid dress sang on a small stage with her hair and make up done as if Marlin Monroe had done it herself.'Sometimes I wake upin the morning to red blueand yellow lightsOn Monday they destroyed meBut by Friday I’m revived' The woman sang beautifully in a soft tone. "It is Onny. We just have to go through those doors." Camille pointed to a set of double doors that sat at the far right corner of the room. "And Lana Del Rey has her own style of music. Its hardly jazz." Camille stated making note of the music. "Like I know who Lana Delaray is." Ondina argued. "Do not!" Camille takes a dramatic pause. "Get me started on that topic!" Approac
Ondina"Did I tell you, you look really good in that dress?""Yeah. Only a hundred times.""Well then you should know I mean it." Ondina giggled."Where are we going, Mason?" Ondina asked.A smile danced across Masons face. "It's a suprise." He replied.Ondina studied his face. His blond hair layed in curls on his head while his nose stood at attention on his face. His thin lips pulled back to reveal perfect white teeth and his crystal blue eyes were complimented by long dark lashes.I'm so lucky. Ondina thought to herself. ‘How did I get so lucky to have the most popular guy in school ask me to prom?’ Mason grabbed hold of Ondinas hand, pulled it up to his lips, and kissed it. She blushed, then looked out the passengers window. Mason drove along the Crystal beach and parked."Ready?" Mason asked."For what?""Just come on." Ondina followed Mason out of the car and up the beach. There was a Light house that sat at the far side of the beach."My dad built this light house." Mason said.
Raphael “I promise you, you won't be sorry." I reassured."No need to make promises. Just make sure you’re good to my boy." Mr. McCormick stated."Oh, no need to worry about that, Mr. McCormick.""I look forward to doing business with you, Mr. Lahsen.""The feelings mutual." We exchanged a firm handshake.Mr. McCormick and his son stood simultaneously. I stand as well. A professional habit I learned from my grandfather."I'll walk you out." I followed behind the McCormicks and made small talk as we made our way down to the lobby."Mr. Lashen, are you leaving for the night?" Christina asked as we passed the front desk. She stopped whatever she was doing on her computer and looked up at us waiting on my answer. "Yep. You should be heading home soon, too." I responded politely."Yes. Right after I document today's prophets." Christina replied."Don't work yourself too hard." I responded. She smiled and directed her attention back towards the computer screen. "How do you keep from fool
OndinaNo!" Ondina woke up screaming. Tears streamed down her face. She jumped as she seen a figure of a man appear next to her bed side."It's ok. Your safe." The figure said. Immediately Ondinas vision cleared and dark eyes were looking right back at her."Do you remember me?" He asked.Ondina nodded her head yes. How could I forget you? Her breathing started to steady and the panic started to subside. Seconds later, the door flew open causing Ondina to cling onto Raphaels hand."Oh, Onny!" Camille ran into the room tears running down her face."I'm the worst friend in the world! Here I am waking up to the best sex I had in years, and your in here!" Ondina looked at Raphael then back to camille, still holding onto his hand."How'd you know I was here?""Someone answered your phon-"Camille’s hand shot to her face and covered her mouth as she made eye contact with Raphael. "I said that out loud. Didn't I." Camille muffled through her hands. Relaxing, she extended her hand out to him
OndinaOndina had been in and out of sleep the whole day. Every now and then, she caught glimpses of the nurses checking her vitals and switching the IV bags. Camille sat with her for a few hours before she was called to a casting gig; promising to be back after. Ondina told her it was okay and she was too tired for company anyway. Despite everything, she was just relieved to know that there were no signs of sexual assault. What time is it? Oh, shoot! Work! She reached for her cell phone. Moving faster than she intended, pain shot through her ribs, causing her to shriek. "You should really stay still." A males voice filled the room, causing her to jump. "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you." Ondina glanced up. Raphael was walking through the doorway of her room, closing the door behind him. "It's late. What are you doing here?" Ondina asked. His face was unreadable. He continued to walk to her bed and gently sat next to her. Her heart started to race. What is he doing? She thought to
Raphael She's stunning. She was sporting a tan colored shirt and a lighter shade of purple shorts. Everything about her is perfect. Her thin hourglass figure, and her long dark hair. Her curls complemented her big light brown eyes and pink full lips. And her breast... Her breast rested so perfectly over her chest with the most perfect shade of brown nip-. Fuck, her shirts see through. She had that look of need on her face. Shit! Think of, uh, Pokémon, or animals. Hell! Think of Nana!Nothing's working with her standing here. I could feel my erection growing little by little. I must have been staring because her arms shot up and shielded her breast from my vision."I should go change," Ondina said with a shade of red blushing her cheeks. She turned stiffly and walked down the hall. My eyes landing on her ass. Shit. There's no way I'm gonna fix this problem. Preparing for a wait, I sat on the left side of the couch.Ondina resurfaced after about twenty minutes and Thankfully my erectio
Raphael Where the hell is she? The car should have been here half an hour ago. This was a new feeling for me, and I didn't like it. I paced around the foyer for what felt like an hour before the car finally arrived. I watched Walter exit the drivers side, and make his way to the back passengers door opening it. Excitement filled my veins. My heart raced as I watched Ondina exit the car. Red is her color... She was wearing a long red satin dress. The sleeves joining her middle fingers. Her neck line was elegant, while the body of the dress seductive. The material clunged to her body like it was tailor made for her and released mid hip. Yup... I'm gonna have a hard time tonight... She turned her back to me, thanking Walter; revealing a dip in her dress that sat just above her ass. Shit.... Definitely gonna have a hard time tonight. Finally, she made her way to the entrance.~~~OndinaOndina tried to keep a steady pase as she walked towards the entrance. There's so many people... Ente
Five years later...I woke up to the ringing of an alarm clock. Like always, it was Ondina's. She had a million of them set for every ten minutes. What for? I had no idea, but today, it wasn't just an annoyance. It was a painful reminder of the chaos that was about to erupt. Fire year old twins were a force of nature. The ringing of the alarm grew louder. I groaned, reaching for the snooze button, but a gentle hand stopped me. "Don't even think about it," Ondina murmured, her voice laced with a sleepy smile. "The monsters will be here any minute."I still couldn't believe I was married to a woman so beautiful. Her dark hair was a tangled mess against the silk pillow and her eyes were still heavy with sleep, but the warmth radiating from her was undeniable. She was, indeed, my everything, and now, carrying our third child, she possessed a radiant glow that made my heart ache with a love so strong it sometimes felt like a physical weight."Monsters?" I teased, pulling her closer. "I
RaphaelI was just finishing up paperwork she my office door opened and in walked Celeste. She swung her hips a little too hard and she smelled of expensive perfume."Raphy, darling," she purred, the word sounding like a hiss on her tongue. "So good of you to see me.""Celeste," I replied.I was already annoyed and just wanted together this over with. "I wasn't aware I had a choice. Your unannounced visit last night hardly left me one."She ignored the chairs and sat her ass on the edge of my desk. Her crimson lips curved into a practiced pout. "Oh, don't be like that, Raphy. I just wanted to see you. To catch up."My jaw tightened. "Catch up? By crashing into my home, heavily intoxicated, and physically assaulting my wife?"Her perfectly practiced pout faltered and was replaced by a flicker of annoyance. "Ondina was being dramatic. It was merely a little… disagreement with her.""A disagreement that involved you grabbing her hair and screaming about how she stole your life?" "He
RaphaelThis could not be happening. Not tonight. Not when Ondina was finally happy. She lunged herself forward, trying to wrap her arms around my waist but I stiff armed her in the forehead."Celeste," I whispered."How did you find our- that doesn't matter." Trying to keep my voice calm I stated."You need to leave.""Leave?" she shrieked, Loud enough for the entire house to hear her. "Leave? After everything? After you promised me forever? You were supposed to be mine, Raphy!"Ondina appeared behind me, her face a mask of confusion and then, registration."How the fuck did you get here?" Ondina positioned herself between me and Celeste."Ondina!" Celeste shrieked again, pointing a wobbly finger in her face. "You! How does it feel living MY life?! I was supposed to be Mrs. Lahsen! I was supposed to live in this house! I was supposed to-" before she could continue, Ondina pushed her in the chest."Back up or I'll call the police!" Before Celeste could launch into another tirade, An
Raphael"Are you sure we can pull this off, Raf?" she asked, her voice tight as she surveyed the mountain of unopened boxes in the living room."The movers have it all covered, my love. Don't stress. " I kissed her forehead."It's just, with it being the twins' birthday, and the family dinner... it's all happening so fast." I could understand why she would be overwhelmed.not only was the twins birthday, it was also moving day. I wrapped my arms around her, burying my face in her beautiful curls. "Hey, breathe. We've got this, little flower. I'm here, aren't I? And besides, you're forgetting the cater we hired." She chuckled, some of the tension left her shoulders. "you're right. I'm over reacting. I need to calm down.""Exactly! Now, tell me, what's priority number one?""Getting Cam and Camie's play area set up. If they're happy, we're all happy." We exchanged smiles. She was right. Those two could bring the the sky down on us if they weren't happy, but they were the best kind of
MasonBreathing was becoming a task for me. Every breath hitched a ragged protest against the pain that I was feeling every day, but today... today was different. The air hung heavier. It was like I could feel my time running out. I knew. Today was the end, and Ondina words clung to my heart. "You're gonna die here, and no one will miss you." A sigh escaped my lips. I could tase the blood in my lungs. My vision was patchy and it burned to keep my eyes open. They had gotten used to the dark after months of being in it, but now, they were struggling against the glow of that one single bulb I hadn't know was there. Ondina forgot to turn it off and this was a new kind of torture.I was left here, visibly able to see just how far gone I was. In the dark, I couldn't see much detail of myself, but now, I could see everything. I was far from the man I used to be, and I had no one to blame but myself. Regret was a useless emotion now. A luxury I could no longer afford, but it was there and
OndinaHis face was gaunt, his eyes sunken and hollow. His hair was longer and his facial hair was unkept, like he hadn't shaves in months. His clothes were worn and filthy, clinging to his sickly frame. He looked like he hadn't eaten in months. He was looking up at her, his eyes wide with a flicker of... 'was it hope?'Ondina took a step back when the memories crashed down on her like a tidal wave of horror and pain. She could remember the fear, the sting of the restraints cutting into her skin, and the relentless torment. She could remember his cruel laughters as he had enjoyed her suffering and how he mocked her as she cried. The memory that paralyzed her the most was his haunting groans of Camilles name as he repeated it over and over again while he used her body for his own gratification. She remembered the agonizing pain of premature labor and the fear for her unborn children as the darkness swallowed her whole. She remembered every single detail. He had taken everything from he
OndinaThree days earlierAfter a sleepless night, Ondina watched as Anna cooed over the twins. "You're a lifesaver," Ondina said, forcing a smile. "I'll be back as soon as I can.""Take your time," Anna said, already distracted with a game of peek-a-boo. "They're in good hands."Ondina kissed each of her twins on the top of their heads she said her goodbyes. "Be good for Anna," she murmured, her voice thick with a mother's anxiousness."They'll be perfect angels, Onny, now shoo." Anna fanned Ondina towards the door.Ondina slipped out the door, her heart pounding in her chest. She drove carefully. Once she was on the highway, she pressed down on the accelerator. She was feeling every bit of anxious, but she needed answers. The drive was agonizing. Doubts gnawed at her. What if she was wrong? What if she was overreacting? But then she was flooded with the memory of the look on Raphael's face every time he told her he had a business trip, and her resolve hardened. Finally, she rea
RaphaelAs I stepped onto the balcony, the crisp morning air caressed my face. Sunrise bled across the horizon, painting the building tops in hues of rose and gold. It was a beautiful day. A perfect day, almost.Inside, Ondina was stirring, the soft laughter of our twins, was already filling the air, letting us know they were awake. The thought of them tugged a smile onto my face. Two perfect, healthy babies. I was truly blessed. After everything, we were finally moving forward in a positive direction.I leaned against the metal railing, the cold was slowly creeping into my hoodie, but I barely noticed. My gaze began to drift towards the light traffic beneath me as my thought began to consume me. It's bee six months. Six months that we've had him. Six months of torture, and I still didn't feel the satisfaction I though I would.Thomas stepped beside me, his face looked strained. "Coffee's on," he muttered he lit a cigarette with a shaky hand."When did you get her?" I asked, pushing
OndinaOndina stirred her tea as she stared aimlessly. Raphael's conversation with Thomas kept playing on repeat in Ondina's head. 'What is he hiding from me?' She felt desperate to know who was in that cabin, and why Raphael was so desperate to keep it secret that he would lie to her.Ondina knew Raphael wasn't always forthcoming, but this felt different. It felt deliberate, and it made her feel uncomfortable. Her gaze drifted to the two sleeping infants in their bassinets. Cameron looked so much like his father, and Camille was a miniature version of herself. They were the reason she needed to know. Their fragile, innocent lives deserved a foundation built on truth, not secrets.Taking a deep breath, Ondina reached for her phone. She scrolled through her contacts until she found Raphael's mother's number. She played out in her head what she wanted to ask, but had no idea how she should go about it. After a few minutes, she took a deep breath and dialed. after a few rings, his mother
