I had a feeling Abigail was mad at me for something else but I didn’t know what and her expression confirmed it.

She seemed hesitant to speak but I didn’t want her to hold back whatever she was thinking. It was better to lay all our cards so we could move forward from there.

I turned us around and picked her up easily, placing her on the table. I parted her legs and stepped in between them, placing both of my arms on either side of her hips. I looked up at her to see that she was already looking at me. “Talk to me, baby. What is the matter?”

She tried to look away but I didn’t let her. “How can I talk when you’re looking at me like that?”

I cocked my head, making our faces closer than before. “How am I looking at you?”

“Like you want to eat me or something.”
