Amelia's eyes fluttered open as the morning sunlight gently filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow on her face.

She yawned and stretched, feeling refreshed after a restful night's sleep. As she blinked away the remnants of sleep, a sudden ring at the door jolted her awake.

"Who the hell is that this early in the morning?" Amelia muttered, still groggy from sleep.

She slowly rose from her bed, her feet padding softly on the carpeted floor as she made her way downstairs. The house was quiet, and little Violet had slept peacefully beside her through the night.

Downstairs in the kitchen, Amelia's mother, Mrs. Tate, was humming to herself as she prepared breakfast. Amelia approached her, rubbing her eyes.

"Mom, are you expecting anyone?" Amelia asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.

Mrs. Tate turned around, a spatula in her hand, and shook her head. "No, dear, not that I know of. Who could it be?"
