Alaric stared at his phone, which vibrated incessantly. The name flashing on the screen made his brow furrow—Selene, again. He didn’t need to answer to know what she would say.

Another fake apology?

More manipulative excuses?

Enough. Selene had exhausted every chance she had.

Alaric placed the phone face down on the table, switching it to silent mode before returning to the document in his hands. Images of Selene crying in front of the media flashed through his mind. Tears that once softened his heart now seemed nothing more than a poorly acted performance.

“To hell with your tears, Selene,” he muttered quietly, glancing at his phone as it vibrated again.

He exhaled deeply and rose from his chair. There was a file he needed to deliver to his father—something to distract him, at least for a while. Ignoring Selene’s calls, Alaric left his phone behind and headed to Caspian’s study.

When he reached the room, the door was slightly ajar, and he could hear Caspian on the phone. Alaric pause

An overcast morning sky mirrored Alaric’s somber mood. In his quiet office, he sat in front of his laptop, attempting to focus on the mountain of documents piling up on his desk. But his mind felt burdened, as if an invisible force was pulling him away from his work.A notification sound broke the silence—a new email with no subject line from an unknown sender. At first, Alaric assumed it might be a last-minute work document. With a slight hesitation, he moved his mouse and clicked the email. The body of the message was empty, containing only a single attachment: a video file. Alaric froze for a moment, sensing something was wrong. Yet curiosity got the better of him.The file loaded in seconds. The first frame that appeared on the screen sent a surge of anger coursing through his veins. A video. Selene. And another man.Alaric couldn't look away. His fists clenched atop the desk, the veins in his neck taut with rage. The video was painfully explicit, every detail sharp and undeniable

Caspian stood tall, his gaze sharp and commanding. In front of him, Alaric knelt on the floor, trembling, abandoning any semblance of dignity for a request that was as impossible as it was desperate. Caspian would undoubtedly reject the request outright, even before Alaric spoke it.“Stop embarrassing yourself, Alaric,” Caspian said coldly, his voice slicing through the silence of the room. “Get up and go back to your room. Your request is absurd.”But Alaric didn’t budge, shaking his head forcefully like a child throwing a tantrum. His eyes were red, wet with tears—whether he was holding them back or letting them flow freely was unclear. This time, he wouldn’t give up. Not until his father gave him what he wanted—Cassandra, back by his side.“I love Cassandra.” Alaric’s voice trembled with desperation. “I know I’m too late. I know I’ve been a fool. But I’ve realized that I can’t live without Cassandra.”Caspian let out a faint scoff, almost incredulous at what he had just heard. Stil

Alaric sat silently behind the wheel, his hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles turned white. In front of him, Caspian's black car moved steadily along the crowded highway. He hadn’t lost track of it, keeping a safe distance—not close enough to be noticed, but near enough to ensure he wouldn’t lose sight of it.He wasn’t entirely sure what drove him to do this. Maybe it was curiosity. Possibly, it was the faint hope he still clung to in a dark corner of his heart—that all of this was just a lie. Caspian must be lying, he told himself over and over. His father was just trying to manipulate him, to force him to give up on Cassandra. But the longer he followed, the more the bitter truth, the one he had tried to ignore, began to seep into him.The thought of Cassandra being pregnant made his chest feel tight. When Caspian’s car finally turned into the parking lot of a hospital, Alaric felt his heart pounding in his chest, as if he had been running endlessly. Yet,

Caspian gripped the steering wheel with one hand, his eyes occasionally flicking to the rearview mirror. His gaze was sharp, laced with caution. Behind him, Alaric’s car followed at a safe distance, like a shadow that refused to disappear. This was nothing new to Caspian—he had expected it. He knew Alaric would never back down easily, especially for Cassandra.Yet, instead of feeling annoyed, Caspian allowed a faint smirk to tug at his lips. There was a subtle satisfaction in knowing Alaric was watching. He might think he was the one keeping an eye on things, but in reality, Caspian was the one in control—playing a game where the harsh truth was his most powerful weapon. When they arrived home, Caspian parked the car smoothly and stepped out with practiced ease. He walked around to the passenger side, opening the door for Cassandra and taking her hand, ignoring the lingering shadow down the street, still frozen in place.Inside, the house was silent, unusually so. Cassandra paused in

Caspian looked up slightly, the corners of his lips curling into a triumphant smile as he noticed the figure outside the window. Alaric stood rigid as a statue, his gaze unable to look away from what he saw. Caspian knew full well the man was watching, and that was precisely what made his blood boil.Wasting no time, Caspian pulled Cassandra closer, leading her to sit on his lap. Cassandra's petite body felt right on top of him, the scent of her body assaulting his senses, taking over the atmosphere of the room.Gently, Caspian caressed Cassandra's cheek, as if teasing, before his fingers moved to caress the woman's full lips. “Open your mouth, darling. Daddy will reward you if you obey,” he murmured in a low voice, like embers burning through the air.Cassandra blinked for a moment, her face showing little surprise. She knew this was part of their game, but the words made her heart skip a beat. “Yes, Daddy…” she hissed, her breath hitching slightly before she opened her mouth slowl

Caspian glanced at the window once more, his eyes scanning the space behind the glass. He held his breath, making sure Alaric’s shadow was truly gone. Only when he was certainly did he turn his attention back to Cassandra, who lay beneath him, her face flushed and her breath coming in short, uneven gasps. With a deliberate slowness, Caspian tugged at the crop top of Cassandra’s cheerleader uniform. The fabric slid upward, revealing the smooth, reddened skin beneath. He knew Cassandra looked stunning in the uniform, but that wasn’t the main reason he hesitated to undress her completely. He couldn’t bring himself to expose her fully—not when Alaric might still be lurking nearby. Cassandra’s body was his alone, and no one else deserved to witness its beauty. Now, confident that no prying eyes remained, Caspian let go of his restraint. His hands moved quickly, stripping away Cassandra’s skirt and the black bra that cupped her full breasts. The fabric fell away, and the sight of her bare

Selene sat on the cold apartment floor, her entire body trembling violently. Her breaths came in short, ragged gasps, her chest rising and falling in an uneven rhythm. Tears streamed down her face, but it wasn’t just from the pain. This wasn’t just about the physical wounds—it was the humiliation, the utter destruction of her pride. With great effort, she took a deep breath, trying to push past the searing pain that gripped her body. Her hands trembled as they ghosted over her skin—each bruise, each mark a cruel reminder of Alaric’s brutality. She clutched at the torn fabric of her dress, which barely covered her, and with unsteady steps, she forced herself toward the bedroom.Standing in front of the mirror, she stared at her reflection. Swollen eyes, a split lip, her skin still red from Alaric’s slap. Tears dripped down her cheeks, but beneath the anguish, something darker took root—rage.Did Alaric really think he could walk away just like that? That he could hurt her, humiliate he

Cassandra looked up as the door creaked open. Heavy footsteps echoed in the hallway, followed by a long, weary sigh. The moment Caspian stepped into the doorway, her heart clenched.Something about him felt different. His eyes were slightly red, his face drawn with exhaustion, as if he had just endured an emotional battle before finally coming home.Cassandra quickly rose to her feet, her steps light but filled with concern.“What’s wrong?” she asked gently but firmly.Caspian didn’t answer. Instead, he pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly—like she was the only thing keeping him grounded.Cassandra froze for a second before returning the embrace, her hands moving to his back, soothing him with slow, gentle strokes.“Is it work?” she asked again, trying to understand.Caspian shook his head, his face still buried in her shoulder.“It’s not about work,” he murmured, his deep voice rough and strained.Cassandra waited, not pushing him to speak.“I dropped the charges against Ala

Caspian had just stepped out of the conference room, his shoulders tense after hours of exhausting discussions. But his steps halted when he saw Damian standing casually near his office door, hands in his pockets, expression unreadable.“Just finished your meeting?” Damian asked casually. His tone sounded like small talk, but something in his eyes told Caspian this wasn’t just idle chatter.Caspian loosened his tie, which suddenly felt too tight around his neck. “Yeah. What is it? Did the police raid your hotel?”Damian scoffed, narrowing his eyes at him as if Caspian had just said something profoundly stupid. “You think my hotel is running illegal business?”Caspian shrugged, a slight smirk tugging at his lips. “Not really. But seeing you this serious makes me think of worst-case scenarios.”Damian let out a deep sigh, as if holding himself back from throwing something at Caspian’s head.“Just answer my question,” he said, this time with more weight in his voice. “Do you have time?”

Alaric let out a quiet scoff, slouching in his chair with an expression of pure irritation. After dealing with Selene and her endless drama, now Damian had come.It was obvious why he was here—to blame him, to repeat the same tired speech about how wrong he was and how right Caspian had always been.“What do you want, Uncle Damian?” he asked, his voice cold, laced with unfiltered annoyance. He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. “Did you come here just to tell me how much of a failure I am too?”Damian didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he pulled a laptop and an old photo album from his bag.Alaric frowned, eyeing the items with suspicion.“I’m not here to blame you,” Damian finally said, his tone calm yet firm. “Because you were already wrong from the very beginning.”Alaric clicked his tongue. Of course. Everyone seemed to enjoy ripping him apart.“But I’m not here to give you a long lecture either,” Damian continued. “I just want to show you something.”Without waiting f

The remote in Selene’s hand trembled violently, her fingers gripping it so tightly she nearly crushed it.Her eyes were locked onto the television screen, rereading the breaking news headline plastered across it.“THIS CAN’T BE TRUE.”“THIS IS ALL LIES.”On the screen, the news anchor spoke in a calm, measured tone. But to Selene, every word felt like a hammer striking her skull, merciless and relentless.“According to an anonymous source, Alaric is not the biological son of businessman Caspian Verity but rather the result of an affair between his late wife and her former lover. Additionally, based on undisclosed legal evidence, Alaric is suspected of attempting to murder Caspian after being stripped of his position as CEO.”Selene shook her head violently.“No… No, that’s impossible…” she whispered, her voice trembling.Alaric… wasn’t Caspian’s son?She swallowed hard, her entire body shaking.“A recording of the shooting does exist, but Caspian Verity has requested that it not be re

His fingers moved to grasp Cassandra’s hand, holding it tightly.“I don’t want any misunderstandings between us. Please don’t leave me in the dark. A conversation this important shouldn’t be held standing by the front door. They sat side by side, his hand still gripping hers as if afraid to let go. His eyes dropped to their entwined fingers, searching for the courage to speak.“I’ve loved you for a long time,” he finally admitted, his voice soft but clear. “Even when you were still with Alaric.”Cassandra remained silent, but she didn’t look surprised.Caspian continued, his voice unsteady. “Because of my selfish desire to have you, I

Cassandra let out a long sigh as she saw her enemy’s name flash on her phone screen. It wasn’t the call she had been waiting for.A brief dilemma gripped her. On one hand, she wanted to ignore it and stay focused on her original plan—heading straight to Caspian’s office. But on the other, her mind was clouded with questions.Selene wouldn’t be calling unless it was important. And the news reports about Alaric still felt too vague. No official statements, no confirmation of whom he had actually harmed—only that Caspian himself had pressed charges.Cassandra bit her lip, then gave in. She swiped the green button and brought the phone to her ear.“What is it? What do you want from me?” she asked, skipping any pleasantries.Silence.Then, the sound of quiet sobs.Cassandra stiffened. She had never heard Selene cry like this before.“Can’t you convince your husband to drop the charges against Alaric?” Selene’s voice cracked, raw with desperation. “He can’t go to prison. Alaric stared at the weapon in his hands, his expression cold, heavy, and commanding. Then, he lifted his gaze to Caspian. His father sat upright, chest open, lips curved in a faint smile laced with challenge. His finger pointed to his own chest, over the left side.“Pull the trigger,” Caspian said, his voice calm.A challenge. A veiled command.Damian moved swiftly, tension etched into his face. He reached out toward Alaric as if hoping to stop the impending destruction.“Give me the gun, Alaric.” His voice was firm but carried a trace of fear. But Alaric didn’t budge. His fingers tightened around the gun’s grip as if it had become an extension of himself. One second. Two seconds. Then, he raised the weapon—not to hand it over to Damian, but to aim it directly at Caspian’s chest.Damian let out a frustrated growl. “Damn it, Alaric! Are you even listening to me?
