“Caspian, I need you to take me home,” Cassandra's voice sounded sharp, breaking the silence in the living room. She stood by the window, her arms folded across her chest, and her face staring out, as if reluctant to meet Caspian's eyes.

Caspian, who was holding the car keys, stopped his movement. He wrinkled his forehead, his eyes full of questions. “You really want to go home, not because you're still angry and misunderstanding me, right?”

Cassandra sighed loudly, closing her eyes for a moment. “No, I'm not. I'm not angry. I just want to go home. Maxian might come here if I don't go home now.”

Caspian folded his arms, standing tall before her. “Is that your reason? Or do you just want to run away?”

Cassandra turned her head, her jaw hardening. “Run away from what, from whom? You're too confident.”

“I pointed out that I never loved her. I even burned all her belongings to make you believe me,” Caspian retorted matter-of-factly. He came closer, his eyes piercing, trying to penetrate

Caspian woke up gasping for air. Sweat drenched his sleep shirt, mingling with the warm morning air. He rubbed his face roughly, trying to shake off the lingering unease. The dream had felt so vivid, so intimate, it left his chest tight with an indescribable heaviness. In his dream, Cassandra had approached him with that sweet smile that never failed to weaken his defenses. She called his name in a soft, teasing voice before leading him to the bed. The details were blurry, but the sensations lingered, leaving his body burning despite the new day’s arrival.“This is insane,” he muttered, cursing himself. “How could I dream something like that? About Cassandra…”Caspian raked his fingers through his hair in frustration, as if trying to banish the dream from his mind. It had been two years since he first realized these strange feelings, yet instead of fading, they had only grown stronger. Cassandra didn’t just occupy his thoughts during the day; she invaded his subconscious every night.

The clock in the living room read 2 a.m., and he had just finished dealing with a mountain of work.As he closed the door, he noticed someone sitting on the family room sofa. Alaric was waiting patiently, his attention focused on the phone in his hands. The moment he heard Caspian’s footsteps, he looked up.“Why are you still awake?” Caspian asked as he removed his jacket.Alaric set his phone down on the table, his expression serious. “I was waiting for you to get home. There’s something I need to talk to you about.”Curious, Caspian walked over to the sofa across from him, tossing his jacket casually over the backrest. He loosened the tie that had been strangling him all evening.“What is it you want to talk about?” he asked, his tone relaxed even as his sharp eyes studied his son.Alaric took a deep breath before answering. “I am eager to join your company. I think working there will give me t

Opening the extensive wardrobe, he sifted through the neatly organized contents. His eyes landed on a black box tucked away in the back.Carefully, Caspian pulled out the box. As he opened it, an exasperated sigh escaped his lips. The night sky hung dark and heavy as Alaric strolled into his house, his steps casual, his grip firm on the wrist of a woman he had just met at the bar. Caspian sat upright in his seat, his left hand gripping the steering wheel tightly while his sharp gaze remained fixed on Alaric, who sat beside him. The air inside the car felt heavy, thick with unspoken tension hanging between them. For the countless times, Caspian felt nothing but disappointment. Alaric, it seemed, was no different from his late mother—always wanting more.“Fine.” Caspian's voice was flat, nearly devoid of emotion, yet carried an undeniable authority. “I'll buy you a house and give you a higher position in the company.”Alaric’s smug expression softened slightly.“But as for company shares, you'll get them later—after I'm dead. That will be your inheritance. Is that enough for you?” Caspian continued, his tone icy cold.A small smirk crept onto Alaric’s lips, his eyes glinting with satisfaction. He couldn’t demand more for now, but that was fine. He could wait. The house and the promotion were more than enough to cement his standing in the company without having to
