Mixed feelings

Luisa's POV

The moment Valerie sauntered out of the house, I realized I was holding my breath. Somehow, I believed her words weren't mere threats. She was a danger in a human form.

What was more shocking was the look of concern on Adrian's face. It was the same look I got at the hospital that made my heart skip a beat.

"Are you okay?" He asked with a softened voice, placing his right hand on my left cheek. "Did she harm you?"

I shook my head slowly, taking a deep breath.

"You saw I was the one who hit her" I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. "I thought my safety was guaranteed in your territory."

"It is, Luisa" Adrian assured. "I wasn't expecting her to get out of the asylum."

"An asylum, huh?" I laughed wryly. "She's indeed a maniac."

Adrian sighed deeply. "You'll be fine, I promise. As my wife, I must protect you."

"Yeah, whatever" I rolled my eyes. "It's forced anyway. You didn't have to protect me twice. I don't have much to repay you."

Adrian smirked. "Do

"You always think you're right."I stood by the poolside, the dim light staring down at my skin as I stared at my beloved sister's angry face."Aren't you going to say anything?" She continued, her tone harsh and unrestrained. "You're one of the most sought-after TV personalities and models in the entertainment industry. Tell me what's stopping you from helping me climb the ranks. I can move up easily with you as my sister."It seemed my silence tipped her off. A mix of guilt and regret surged through my body, but my decision was final."I'm sorry, Christina, but if you want to make it in the entertainment industry, you'll have to work for it yourself; just like I did" I declared, taking a step towards her. "Let's not fight over this."I tried to reach out to her, but she swatted my hands away and took several steps backward."You're lying, Luisa" She sp

How can I help you?" She asked with a smile, her tone polite and firm."Is Mr. Sanchez in? I came to see him" I replied. She sized me up and inquired. "Do you have an appointment with him or is he expecting you?""No, he isn't" I replied, taking a deep breath. "You know, this isn't the first time I'm coming here to see him. I'm his fiancee."Her mouth widened in disbelief as she stared at me in shock."You're Luisa Fernanda, the model and TV personality everyone's talking about" She gasped in shock, giggling in excitement. Flash MarriageAdrian's POV"Who's that lady running on the highway? Doesn't she know she could get hit? Thankfully, the traffic light turned red" My driver and personal assistant blabbered on and on as we waited for other vehicles to move.I exhaled heavily, fed up with hearing his voice. If it wasn't for my main driver who took a sick leave, the blabbermouth wouldn't be here disrupting my peace of mind."Shut up, Miguel" I ordered, adjusting the business magazine in my hands. "Eyes on the road.""I'm sorry, Sir, but she looks like a damsel in distress" Miguel continued.I decided to see the lady that got him running his mouth, only to be astonished by the sight. She was indeed a damsel in distress. Compared to those ladies who looked ugly when they cried, she seemed prettier."Park the car, Miguel" I demanded, feeling the need to help her."Huh... Why?" Miguel questioned, his face etched with confusion.I snorted. "You don't want her dying, do you?""No, I don't" He shook his head.

I gasped in bewilderment, running my fingers through my long brown hair. It's been hours since that stranger dropped me off, and I haven't stopped staring at the marriage certificate in my hand.I desperately felt the urge to hit my head against a wall or smash it against a stone as memories of my actions from the roadside to the courthouse resurfaced. Stupid was an understatement of how I felt."Gosh, I can't believe I got married to a stranger!" I exclaimed, and pulled my hair out, gritting my teeth in pain.I couldn't even recall the man's name nor could I spare a second to check the marriage certificate. I knew it was written in it, but I just didn't care."To hell with you, Diego, and your slutty assistant" I cursed and almost bit my tongue. That traitor was the reason why I was in this mess in the first place. Still, I couldn't believe I lost my cool. Now, what I needed to worry about was how to get out of this dile

I had to stop him.The expression on her face when she set her eyes on me was indeed priceless. Astonished at the way she looked at me, I couldn't help but wonder if she had thought it was all going to pass away like that.If she had thought so, then she was dreaming and needed to wake up. As the prideful man that I was, I sauntered right to where my assistant stood."Hello, Mrs. Gonzalez" I greeted, emphasizing the name so she could realize what she had gotten herself into. Her silence made the atmosphere awkward, and a moment passed before I realized that we weren't going to make any progress if I didn't take the first step."Miguel" I called, walking towards the door and pushing it open. "Make your choice now - sign those documents or leave this place to see your video all over the internet."The old man sighed deeply, wiping his sweaty face with the handkerchief in his hands."This is blackmail" He scowled."Who cares?" Miguel smirked. "This is strictly business, Mr. Alvarez. Every competitor would seize the opportunity to take down their rivals. This is just one of many events."Silence reigned for a moment. I simply sat, waiting for his decision. I had spoken; he was left to agree or decline, a choice that would decide his future and that of his family.Miguel was getting impatient. I was too, but my self-restraint was quite powerful."Think about it. You get to enjoy some benefits from us after a few years" Miguel added, and the old man banged his fist on the table."That's after a few years, damnit!" He roared. I tilted my head to see Charles standing before me with his questioning gaze fixed on me."Er... Well, I...." I drawled, sparing the two women a glance. "Came to get something to eat.""Is that so?" He probed, frowning.I swallowed the lump in my throat, looking around to avoid his gaze."Yes, isn't it time for dinner?" I asked, my voice softened. He sighed, checking his wristwatch. "Dinner is at 6pm, Madame. The time is just half past five; we still have thirty minutes left. The master will be coming to join us.""Huh...." I pouted in shock. Adrian was coming back today?I hadn't seen him since we last spoke at the hospital. I still needed to thank him for his help. Yes, I needed to make him know that I wasn't going to owe him anything."Madame, Madame...." Charles called repeatedly, snapping me out of my thoughts."Wh

I queried, dumbfounded by just the thought of it.The two exchanged glances for the umpteenth time with somber expressions on their faces.Their actions infuriated me, most especially the gullible woman sitting next to my father."I'm talking to you, mother" I snapped, throwing her a hard glare. She pursed her lips and looked away. "It's none of your business. We did it to save our home.""Oh?" I snorted in laughter. "You call.....""Enough, Valerie" My father snarled, cutting me off. "Don't speak to your parents like that. You of all people do not have the right to question our decisions.""I see..." I nodded, my expression darkening. "I won't blame you since you never considered me as your daughter. I mean, who would want a crazy child who just spent the last five years of her life in an asylum? It's obvious you don't see me as your child anymore but as an outcast."Tears welled up in my eyes as I added. "But you did not

I gritted my teeth in anger; angry with reality. It was their house, so I had to comply; coupled with the past drama before they tried to get rid of me.I ignored Felix and sauntered into the house.
