66: Dealing With All Of It

Allison's POV.

I was sitting upright in my hospital bed, feeling every bit of the pain from my injuries.

The dull ache in my back and the sharp sting in my arm made me feel like I’d been through a blender and then carefully put back together.

The medications had eased some of the pain, but my body still felt heavy and bruised.

The door creaked open, and Viktoh, Mia, and two other team members walked in. Viktoh was his usual composed self, but I could see the concern in his eyes.

Mia looked worried but was trying to hide it behind a brave face. The other two, Alex and Ryan, followed them in, both looking serious and ready for business.

“Hey, Allison,” Mia said softly as she took a seat next to my bed. “How are you feeling?”

“Like I’ve been run over,” I replied, attempting a small smile. “But I’m alive, so that’s something.”

Viktoh took the chair across from me, his face lined with concentration. “We need to figure out who did this and why. This attack seems too precise to be random.
