BETH'S POV

“Miss Blakes, Doctor Ethan already told me everything. I just want you to comply with me to make the process successful,” She urged, placing her palm on my shoulder and I nodded in agreement, taking a deep breath.

“The process is taking place here in my office; there's a special ward in here, so there's nothing to worry about. The nurses are coming in to help you change into a dress provided by the hospital.” With this, she nodded and took her leave as her stilettos clicked against the flawless tiles.

The nervousness I was trying to overcome intensified the moment the nurses came in with the sky blue dress, and they assisted me in changing into it. They led me towards a door in the office which led to what seemed like a private ward. On getting there, they made me lie on the bed while waiting for doctor Vivian and soon, she walked in, clad in a surgical suit.

“Miss Blakes, you have to relax and cooperate with me to make this process successful,” She said, gazing keenly at me through her thick lenses and I nodded before fixing my gaze on the ceiling.

My legs were parted and I gulped, feeling slightly uncomfortable. It felt quite awkward, knowing my fellow woman was glancing directly at my core and I tried as much as possible to remain still.

The nurses held my legs in place as she proceeded, and the process was more painful than I thought. I yelped in pain as I felt a sharp pain from my depth and she paused for a while before going ahead.

The pain became unbearable and I struggled to close my legs but the nurses held them firmly apart, urging me to remain still till it was finally over. Doctor Vivian flashed me a smile and the nurses assisted me in putting on the dress I came in with.

“You can relax for a while before taking your leave. Do well to go through the manual Doctor Ethan gave to you and follow every instruction in it so our effort doesn't end up in vain,” She instructed and my gaze squinted.

“A manual? I didn't get anything like that from him,” She had a surprised expression on her face.

“It's fine; I'll send a soft copy to you via email,” She said, and I nodded.

“Do I proceed to make payments now?” I asked and she chuckled.

“Your fiance already settled the bills, have you forgotten?” This caught me off guard and I blinked continuously.

‘My fiance? Is that Clement? He proceeded to pay for this process? Does that mean he still loves me and didn't mean any of those vile words he uttered yesterday?’

“Miss Blakes, can you hear me?” Doctor Vivian’s words jolted me back to earth.

“I didn't get what you just said, ma'am.”

“I was saying you should go home and rest properly. Avoid anything strenuous, eat properly and if possible, remain indoors in the meantime.” She advised and I sighed inwardly.

The safety measures were just too much for just a recovery process, and it was already seeming like hell of a difficult task. I nodded and left excitedly, flagging down a taxi as I got back on the streets.

A burst of excitement surged through me, knowing I still had a chance with Clement. I dialled his contact, and he was unreachable. I chuckled lightly, thinking it was one of his stunts to get my attention.

I quickly texted Layla to inform her the process was successful and she didn't take long to respond. I felt fulfilled, knowing that a major problem had been eradicated from my life.

The moment I got back to college, I hurried back to the hostel and made myself a light meal, after which I had a bath and changed into a pair of casuals. I needed to see Clement and appreciate his financial support.

I knew he wouldn't be in class because it was a Friday and Clement never attended Friday classes. He always referred to it as a half day and added it to his days of rest even after I tried to convince him against the decision.

As I approached his hostel, I took in a deep breath, bracing myself up to face him, knowing he was still angry with me. I met Rick and Jake, his best friends, and they gave me a scornful look, which got me quite upset but, I walked past them and headed to his room.

Those two were bad influences but I never advised him against them. I didn't want to be the cause of their separation so I always let them be. The moment I arrived at his doorpost, I lifted my hand to knock on the door but I knew he wouldn't let me in the moment he knew I was the one.

I took in a deep breath to calm my racing heart and twisted the knob, taking a step into the room. The initial excitement and nervousness disappeared and were replaced by fury the moment I caught sight of Cassie, one of the college bullies, straddling him and kissing him passionately.

She was clad in nothing but a skimpy skirt that exposed her round butt and a sling-like bralette, which revealed the swell of her boobs. She paused in her tracks the moment she noticed my presence and his gaze darted towards me with disbelief in his eyes.

I stood like a statue, unable to believe the scene unfolding in my sight and tears streamed uncontrollably down my cheeks.

“There the pathetic monkey goes!” She squealed in a mocking tone, sealing his lips with hers again, just to rile me up.

“I glanced towards Clement, who had a nonchalant expression on his face as he lay underneath Cassie in nothing but briefs.

“How shameless can you be, Clem? We broke up yesterday and you already found a rebound?” I asked in tears, leaning against the wall as tears rolled down my cheeks.

She got off him and put on her shirt, approaching me with a wry smirk on her face.

“Clement, have you told her you never loved her? Or should I do you the honours?” She directed her question towards the asshole as she peered challengingly into my eyes.

“Go on darling, but be gentle. She's just a vulnerable little bird,” He scoffed and it seemed like a thousand needles were piercing through my heart, hearing those words from Clement, the one in whose arms I once found solace and comfort.

I noticed additional presence in the room and realised Rick and Jake just stepped in.

“Look who we have here, the queen of the coast.” Rick chipped in annoyingly and I flashed him a deadly glare.
