EMMA POV

After my mom went out of the house because I pissed her off and didn't agree to what she wanted.

“I need to speak with you Ava” I said as I walked outside too.

The sun was starting to dip behind the trees, casting a soft, golden glow across the yard as I rushed outside, my pulse still drumming from the conversation with my mom. Ava was waiting, leaning casually against her car, her smile wide and proud. She had every reason to be; she’d just pulled off a masterstroke of confusion, diverting my mom’s attention with a lie so quick it made my head spin.

I caught my breath, hesitated, then approached her. "Ava," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Yes? Are you happy? Everything is solved and okay now, isnt it?" she replied, her face bright with that same confident smile, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "I managed to confuse her, didn't I?"

I paused, trying to figure out how to say what was bouncing around my head. "Well you did, but what was that for? And who is that guy

EMMA POV —--"And you’re dramatic, Or do you think I am not being serious right now?" she shot back. "Look, Emma, this can work. Daniel needs a wife, you need a solution. Just… get to know him a little. Have a few conversations. Worst case, you both decide it’s not gonna work, and we come up with Plan B."I hesitated, letting the idea sink in. It was crazy. But also… maybe not as crazy as I’d thought a few minutes ago. "Fine," I said, finally. "But if this blows up in my face, I’m blaming you."Ava grinned, pulling me into a quick hug. "Deal. But it won’t. Trust me."---The next morning, I found myself pacing around the kitchen, waiting for Ava to show up with some coffee and a plan. I’d barely slept, tossing and turning as I tried to wrap my head around everything. When she finally strolled in, two steaming cups in hand, she looked far too cheerful for someone who’d caused my latest crisis."Good morning, future Mrs. Daniel," she teased, handing me a cup.I nearly choked on my firs

EMMA POV—"To register our marriage and show it to my family, so they would let me have what belongs to me" he said simply, like it was the most logical thing in the world."So soon?" I blurted out, the words escaping before I could stop myself."Yeah, we can't waste more time." There was a finality in his tone that brooked no argument. I didn’t ask any more questions. Maybe it was fear, maybe it was curiosity—either way, I followed him out, and within minutes, we were driving through the city streets. The ride was quiet, with neither of us knowing exactly what to say. After a few hours, the formalities were completed. I still couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that, on paper, we were now officially a married couple. It didn’t feel real, yet here I was, holding a marriage certificate in my hand. Daniel drove in silence, his focus solely on the road as if to avoid any awkward conversations. We finally arrived at a mansion, an imposing structure with manicured lawns, ornate iron gat

EMMA POVAfter a few minutes of discussion, they both finally walked back to the dining table.“Well, what happened?” She asked, her gaze on Daniel and her father, it was as if she was expecting something to happen at that moment.“Nothing happened, we only discussed something important” Mr Gave said “Oh..” Racheal blurted “What were you expecting?” Mrs Gave asked“Well, we were in the middle of an important discussion, about Daniel's marriage, perhaps we could continue now” Rachael said Why do I sense something weird about her?“Yeah right” Mr Gave finally came to his sensesI cleared my throat silently, my hands on my mouth and I adjusted properly on the chair.“Where did we stop?” Mr Gave asked I glared at the table, hoping Racheal wouldn't say ‘We asked if she was pregnant’“Well…” Rachael said I held the glass cup which was filled with water, waiting for a moment to sip the water if Rachael reminds them about the weird question they asked her The conversation at the dining

EMMA POVI shook my head, frustrated. "Of course it’s not real, Daniel. This is just, just… temporary, yeah temporary. We both know that.""If you think this is not real and you decide not to follow up with our plan,What do you think will happen if our cover is blown?" he snapped. His voice was low, but the edge was sharp. "This isn’t just about us. It’s about my position in the company, we can't afford to lose or act slow at the moment. You need to think of a proper way to handle it."I could feel my irritation rising. "How about you?" I shot back. "You’re in this just as much as I am. This was your idea, remember? You can't put everything on me and when you achieve everything you want, you let go of me just like that""My parents need to see me settled," he said, his voice cool. "Once they hand over my position, it doesn’t matter if we stay together or not. It’ll be on me, not you anymore." He stepped out of the car, and I followed, trailing a few steps behind. As we entered the li

Natalie and Emma hasn't spoken for days and Ava has been very busy and she was happy that their plan has been going well and successful, Emma had decided to stay with Daniel only for temporary.---Ava sighed deeply, her heels clicking softly on the pavement as she approached her front door. The sun was dipping below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow across the neighborhood. She had just come from Emma’s house, running errands on her behalf again. It wasn’t like Emma to be so distant, but with everything going on, Ava figured it was only natural. But there, leaning casually against Ava’s front gate, was Natalie.Ava’s expression darkened instantly. “Why are you here?”Natalie’s lips curled into a sly, almost mocking smile. “Oh, don’t act so surprised. Seems like I’m the bad guy now, huh?”Ava didn’t even bother to respond. Instead, she rolled her eyes, her irritation barely concealed. “Emma isn’t around, if that’s what you came for.”“I just want to talk,” Natalie said, her tone

ROBERT AND NINAROBERTThe hospital's sterile corridors stretched out like a labyrinth of lost hopes, echoing the whispers of the wounded. Fluorescent lights above cast an unforgiving glare, illuminating the frailty of human existence. Every step resonated with the weight of uncertainty, each door hiding a story of joy or despair. In the wards, rows of beds held the fragile bodies of loved ones, their faces etched with pain, fear, and longing. Monitors beeped like anxious heartbeats, tracking the delicate balance between life and death. The scent of antiseptic and desperation hung heavy in the air.In this sacred space, families clung to fragile threads of hope, praying for miracles. Doctors and nurses moved with compassionate urgency, their faces masks of resolve, their eyes betraying the emotional toll.Every room concealed a unique struggle: a child's tears, a parent's anguish, a couple's tender touch. DANIEL POVI ended the call and looked over at Emma, still curled under the blankets, her breathing slow and steady. She was in the early stages of pregnancy, and her body was already working hard, making her more tired than usual. But now was not the time to let her rest.I approached the bed and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. “Emma,” I said, my voice soft but firm. “Wake up, how are you feeling? I am sorry i disrupt your sleep.”She stirred, blinking sleepily at me. “What’s wrong? Why did you wake me up all of a sudden? Is there a problem?” she murmured, her words slurred with sleep.I hesitated, hating the thought of breaking this news to her, but there was no way around it. “Ava just called. Your mom... she’s in the hospital. It’s critical.”Emma’s eyes shot open, all traces of drowsiness vanishing. “What? My mom is in the hospital? How did that even happen?” she gasped, pushing herself up on the bed, her movements frantic. “How is that possible? Hospital all of a sudden? S

EMMA POVThe name the doctor had called tugged at a memory, pulling me abruptly from the present. My hand hovered in midair, caught in the space between now and then, a blur of faces and voices swimming before me until Natalie's touch brought me back.“Hey,” she said, her fingers pinching my arm lightly but sharply. Her gaze was expectant, a bit concerned, and just a little exasperated. “Huh” I said “Snap out of everything and be your self, your mom is going to be alright” she said “Yeah…” I replied, blinking to clear my thoughts. “Yeah, send my regards to him, and tell him I appreciate what he did. Truly,I am grateful”.Natalie watched me, her expression softening a bit. “How about her treatment?” she asked, tone practical but probing. “Should they proceed? Do we keep her here? Or… should she be at home, resting with her medications? You have to select one so they can work on her treatment quickly”My gaze slid over to Daniel, who’d been standing quietly just behind her. The boardroom was nothing short of spectacular. Polished marble floors gleamed under the soft glow of recessed lighting, and the walls were lined with sleek black panels that radiated authority. The centerpiece of the room was an imposing oval table, surrounded by high-backed leather chairs that seemed to demand respect from anyone who sat in them.Maya adjusted her blazer as she entered, the sharp heels of her nude Louboutins clicking against the floor. Her tailored navy suit fit her perfectly, accentuating her poised yet confident demeanor. Her dark hair was swept back into a low chignon, and her makeup was subtle but flawless,a touch of blush, nude lips, and eyes lined with precision. She looked every bit the part of someone who belonged here.As she stepped into the room, all eyes turned to her. She felt their gazes, some curious, others skeptical, but she held her head high, her back straight. This wasn't the Maya who had cried in her car outside Robert’s mansion years ago. This

Maya adjusted her dress as she stepped out of her sleek car, her pulse quickening. The towering gates of Robert’s estate stood before her, a symbol of everything opulent yet unattainable in her life. She hesitated for a moment, clutching her purse tightly. She knew this wasn’t just about fun anymore. It hadn’t been for a while. But as much as she tried to convince herself otherwise, the flutter in her chest every time she saw Robert was undeniable. The driveway stretched endlessly, lined with pristine hedges and marble statues that whispered wealth and power. Maya had been here before—many times—but tonight, something felt different. She wasn’t sure if it was the way Robert had sounded on the phone earlier, his voice rich with amusement, or the way her heart seemed to race without reason. When the butler opened the door, she stepped inside with a practiced smile, smoothing her hair. “Evening, Charles.”The older man gave a polite nod. “Good evening, Ms. Hayes. Chapter 43: The Games We PlayRobert pulled into the driveway, his grip tightening on the steering wheel. The weight of the previous night lingered heavily on his shoulders—Rebecca’s sudden reappearance, Emma’s betrayal, Natalie’s cryptic warnings. It was all too much.Stepping out of the car, the cool morning air did little to calm him. He pushed open the door to his house, half-hoping for silence, but instead, he was greeted by a voice that made his stomach twist.“Well, look who finally decided to come home,” Carolyn said, lounging on the couch as if she owned the place.Robert froze in the doorway, his jaw tightening. “You’re still here?” he asked, his tone clipped.Carolyn stood, smoothing down the silk robe she wore—a robe that wasn’t hers, he noted bitterly. She had a way of making herself at home in places she didn’t belong.“I was thinking of leaving when you got back,” she said, feigning sweetness. “No need to be so harsh, Robert.”His eyes narrowed. He’d heard this tone bef

The penthouse was silent, save for the faint hum of the city outside. Robert stared at the city skyline, his whiskey glass empty on the counter beside him. His head was spinning, but not from the alcohol, Emma’s sudden betrayal to him was a knife that kept twisting deeper. His nephew. His own blood. And Emma, the woman he had been chasing all his life around, had chosen him.His phone buzzed again. He ignored it, pushing the glass away. He needed air. The penthouse, though vast, felt suffocating tonight. Grabbing his coat, he headed to the one place he knew could distract him: The Velvet Room.---The nightclub was pulsing with life. The bass thumped through the floor, the room dimly lit with streaks of neon. Robert slipped past the crowd, heading for a private booth. He wasn’t in the mood for company, but the anonymity of the club gave him a reprieve from the weight crushing his chest.A waitress approached him, her tray balanced perfectly as she smiled. "Your usual, Mr. Robert?"He

ROBERT POVI froze there, shocked with what I saw, why would Emma be pregnant? And why was she in the hospital? These thoughts lingered in my heads for a while then I saw Daniel. “Daniel” I called out to him and he stopped in his tracks Daniel stood in the hallway, his arms casually crossed over his chest, a friendly smile on his face.“Uncle,” he said, his voice calm, almost too polite, as if he was holding something back.I forced a smirk, though unease prickled under my skin. “Thought you’d left already, I was about to leave since you wouldnt meet your uncle” I replied, my tone sharper than I intended. He nodded, his gaze briefly flickering toward the hospital room down the corridor. “I should have. But I wanted to make sure everything’s running smoothly. She is my mother-in-law, after all. I have to make sure she’s comfortable.”The words landed with a weight I wasn’t expecting. Mother-in-law? I blinked, barely managing a neutral nod.“Take me to see her,it wouldn't be nice if I

His question hung in the air like an invisible weight, pressing on me. “Are you pregnant?” His voice was sharp but not loud, filled with urgency that made my chest tighten.I froze. EMMA POVI sat outside Mom's hospital room, lost in the serene landscape beyond the window. The gentle rustle of leaves and chirping birds offered a fleeting escape from the weight of her illness. Suddenly, a familiar voice broke the tranquility."Emma."I turned to see Natalie standing behind me, her eyes tinged with a mix of guilt and hesitation."Hey, still here?" I replied softly, my curiosity piqued.Natalie's gaze darted around the hospital corridor before settling on me. "I'm heading home, but I wanted to just stop buy before leaving and apologise for...everything." Her voice trembled.I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What's going on, Natalie? You're being really cryptic, you did nothing wrong."Natalie took a step closer, her eyes locking onto mine. "I know I shouldn't have said such a thing that day. I was stressed, and I took it out on you. I'm so sorry."My expression softened. "It's nothing, Natalie. Friends fight, and we settle." I offered a reassuring smile.Natalie's f

Carolyn had locked herself in the guest room, refusing to speak to me, her sobs echoing faintly through the walls. The kids noticed, their wide-eyed gazes flicking between me and the closed door, sensing the tension. They didn’t ask questions, but the silence was damning, like a silent judgment hanging over me.That evening, I confronted Carolyn. She looked at me with a scornful smile, her lips curving slightly as she crossed her arms. “What do you want, Robert? I already told you everything that happened, do I Have the energy to force you on me? I don't, you did it yourself and you were satisfied,so what more do you want?”“I want answers, real answers, tell me the truth” I replied, my voice a mixture of frustration and desperation. “What happened last night?”“You don’t remember?” she asked, feigning innocence. “Or are you just pretending, so you can escape the blame?”“I don’t trust
