Tom's POV
What the hell? I reread the document in my hands, frowning as I looked from it to Adam Stone and then back to the damned paper.
When I had received the document, everything had seemed just right. A building contract with the Stone foundation? Heck yeah!
Although it was quite annoying that he hadn't accepted my casino business idea and I did think that the business had so much promise. But the aim was to be partners with the all pompous and renowned Adam Stone.
Until I saw the damned clause.
'If the third party is involved in any illegal or illicit activity that could tarnish the reputation of the Stone foundation, the contract becomes null and void and the third party has to compensate for damages done."
I looked up at the damned Adam Stone, waiting for an answer, however from the way he simply stared at me, it di
Adam's POVLeonard signed the document, dropped the pen and looked up at me as if to see if I was satisfied. Of course I was. Harrison hadn't backed out of the contract like I had thought he would. The protection clause has been necessary. The businessman Tom Harrison that I knew was good at his work and had the potential to be greater. But the man he was, the plain old regular kind of person that he was, was sickening.A man who beat his wife. A man who laid hands on a woman. A man who treated his valuables like trash and who couldn't set his priorities straight. He had a woman like Eve, someone I would give the world for, and he made her miserable. That kind of man could definitely get into a serious mess. One that he would drag my entire foundation into. And I could not let that happen. When he had almost lost his shit, demanding an explanation, I had been certain tha
Madeline's POVIt felt so good to be out in the mall shopping my head off. Call it a coping mechanism or what not, it was the only thing I could think of when I'd worried my head off about John."Ma'am?"I blinked rapidly, my eyes focusing on the short shop clerk before me. She had some ridiculous pink hair on her head making her look like a barbie doll wannabe. She had a gum rolling between her teeth and it irritated the shit out of me."Excuse me," I told her, trying not to look disgusted as hell. Who on earth did she think she was walking all up in my face, having the nerve to glare down at me as if I were the gum between her teeth?"What would you like?" She asked in a nonchalant tone, roaming her eyes down my knee length Zara dress. She was probably trying to judge if it was truly authentic or a rip off.Bi
Tom's POV"Would you like another glass of wine sir?" The waiter asked, staring at my empty glass and half finished steak. When Adam Stone had hauled his ass out of the restaurant, I had stayed back to treat myself to dinner. Because I sure as hell deserved it, didn't I? I just bagged a contract with the famous Adam Stone. The man of all fame. Of course I deserved to eat something good. Some cool cash would be pouring down into my pockets like a damned avalanche. I could smell it already. Hell, I could taste it too.The money made with Barlow had been used to keep my company's stocks from crashing entirely. It had been crazy, the effects from the New Orleans hotel downfall, the number of people we had to compensate and the number of hands we had to grease so we could keep the hotel building. We had started reconstruction all over ag
Madeline's POV"It is quite heavy, Mrs Black," the mall assistant groaned as he struggled to carry the weight of my gift. I glared at him, irritated to the bones.I was tired, I was drenched and I was damned fed up with all the damned mess! What the hell was my gain anyway? It was Mrs Stone's birthday, not mine and yet I had to have expended every inch of my bone for her. It did not make any sense if I didn't get married to Adam Stone after this. I would raise hell."Mrs Black?""And what would you like me to do about it?!" I hissed, glaring at the man behind me, wondering what the hell was his problem.I already had a lot on my plate to deal with. I had already shopped for a whole day. It had taken all the money in my damned purse to get her that silly figurine of a classical british beauty. I had been walking past an auction in the mall
Tom's POV"What about the contractors?" I said into the mouthpiece.I stood in my office trying to quell the excitement that poured through me in rapid waves. To say I was excited was an understatement. I had been for the past few days ever since the contract signing with Adam Stone.Since I would be responsible for hiring contractors and all, I had been busy, all over the fucking place, trying to find the best persons for the jobs. It would be a chain of buildings with Adam Stone after all and that man had to be obsessed with quality. With the New Orleans hotel, it had been easy to cut corners because well, all the other investors wanted to cut corners as well. Everyone was concerned about maximum profit and didn't care what materials we used or how they were used.Money. It turned the heads of those bastards to play to my tune.&nb
Tom's POVI drove out of my company's garage, a lazy grin on my face as I swerved onto the road. The invitation to the birthday party burned in my suit jacket that was sprawled over the passenger seat. I had the urge to whip it out and stare at it over and over again. My ticket to a world of numerous possibilities. The things I could achieve, the people I could meet, I really had hit the jackpot with Adam Stone and it was worth celebrating!Grinning widely, I sped down the road, trying to think of the nearest club to crash in. I wanted a taste of the high life. Scratch that, I wanted more than a taste. I wanted a whole scoop.I was done with the day's work. My phone rang somewhere, resounding in the car, irritating the shit out of me. It had better not be my bitch of a secretary. I would not be returning to the office unless there was a meteor crashing into it from out of spac
Eve’s POVMy eyes lazily drifted to the clock in the living room. It was almost midnight. Tom hadn’t come home and while a part of me was worried something bad had happened to him.I wasn’t all that surprised. Tom had a knack for going off whenever he wanted, doing whatever he liked and if that meant sleeping with other women, then so be it. He was the man of the house after all.I sniffed at the thought and directed my gaze at the TV. Nuren had gone to bed an hour ago. A tiny part of me had hoped like a desperate fool that she would come sit with me and we could see a movie together or something. But that would never happen. Nuren would only get into more trouble and I would bear the brunt of it. Tom had always forbidden building any sort of friendship with the staff. I had no idea why, whatever his reasons were however, they made me feel even lonelier.&nb
Adam’s POV“Well,” Anabelle said as she ended the call, a resolute look on her face.“Well what?” I demanded, narrowing my gaze. She had better not be about to say what I was thinking or shit was going to hit the fucking fan.“The cake is going to be thirty minutes late,” Anabelle’s words put a sour taste in my mouth.“Hell no!” I hissed, clenching my hands in a fist.“What is it?!” My mother yelled from her bedroom and Anabelle shot me a warning look.I had forgotten I was standing in my mother’s hallway, waiting for her as the stylist dressed her up. She had been so teary when she found out I’d invited her favorite stylist from some TV series she used to watch, shipping the spunky lady all the way from France. I was happy if she was.
