Adam's POV
The workload never seemed to decrease. I had sent half of my mornings, signing and scribbling in documents and going through proposals from teams in the HQ and from other branches. I had plans to establish two more branches in Europe and while Paris was thriving well, I had been trying to figure out a way to establish on German soil.
But that would mean making a deal with a German investor and those guys were quite tough to crack. I wasn't worried though. I was certain that with proper planning, and the right tools, even the hardest nut would get cracked.
Mother had called that morning too, saying something about me having to meet Madeline and of course I had refused. I wanted nothing to do with that bitch ever again. She ought to be grateful that I hadn't had her thrown in jail for what she did to me. Instead she had befriended my mother, conniving with her.
I shou
ADAM'S POVEve shook her head, pressing her lips together. "Please stop asking me that,""Eve," I growled and wanted to yank and pull at my hair in frustration. If I had thought Madeline drove me crazy, I clearly hadn't anticipated Eve. There was no other woman in the world who made me feel complex emotions at the same time!"I don't want to lie to you again," She said and I felt my chest squeeze again. She was sad about this as well. "I'll answer your questions later, perhaps. But that isn't why I'm here and... I don't think I can handle your questions for now.""So, should I just assume you had done it on purpose? That you had deceived me Because you wanted to cheat on your husband?!"She simply shook her head and I sighed and leaned back in my chair. There was nothing I could do then. She wouldn't talk to me. And by all rights, Eve wss Harrison's wife. There was li
TOM'S POVI whistled as I drove down the road to the restaurant Adam Stone had chosen. I was on fucking cloud nine. I had been since last week when his secretary called to inform me that a meeting had been rescheduled already.I glanced behind me at the back seat. I had all my files and the contract ready. I was fully prepared. And I was sure I would stun the shorts off Adam Stone, all he would want to do was invest! This was it! This was my stroke of luck, soon I would be as rich as that pompous bastard and I would call the shots.I was so damned happy, I had gotten Eve a pretty necklace set. I had no idea how she had been able to pull it off and frankly that was a bit worrisome. But I didn't care much. As long as my billion dollar contract was secured, I was good.I parked right before the restaurant, grabbed my materials and walked through feeling on top of the world.
ADAM'S POVI had sat there in the restaurant listening to Tom rant about his fucking Casino whole imagining nailing his head to the door of the chandelier every damned minute. It had been so hard to sit still and maintain a blank head while watching the bastard talk animatedly about his dream casino. When all I wanted to do was beat the shit out of him.Where, in my mind, all I could see was him laying hands on Eve.It was exactly why I had chosen a restaurant. Meeting him in an enclosed place would test my self control severely. I couldn't trust myself not to injure him. I had hoped that with people around me, I wouldn't act so impulsively despite the strong urge.He was solely responsible for the terror I had seen in Eve's eyes, multiple times. He was a horrifying monster! No one could convince me otherwise. He hadn
Tom's POV I waited until I was settled in the car before I whipped out the phone again, going through my guard's messages. A letter. A damned letter. Who on earth could possibly send it to her? I had worked my ass off to ensure that all Eve had was me in the entire world. I had made sure of that. So who on earth would send her a letter? It was damn annoying. I tapped rapidly on my phone, dialing the guard's number. "Boss?" His gruff voice filtered through the receiver. "Under no circumstance, should that letter get to my wife," I ordered. He remained silent for a while before responding. "Okay, got it boss." He didn't get it. It was clear in his voice that he didn't get it at all. But I didn't
Adam's POV"No fucking way in hell!" I spat as I read through the blog post on my phone."That's way too many curses in one sentence," Micheal chuckled through the receiver and I wished he was here so I could glare right at him."This isn't funny!" I snapped, reading the article some wannabe journalist had uploaded on her blog.'Madeline Black and New York's finest billionaire bachelor, Adam Stone, said to be engaged.Sources: Madeline Black herself.'"It isn't?" My best friend teased me and I could imagine the look on his face. He would have an impish grin as he looked at me. "The whole world knows you're engaged... Except you. That's true Disney romance right there.""Micheal," I growled. He had the knack of throwing bants when I didn't fucking need them.
Eve's POV"Madam, another package came in today," Nuren informed me.I sat at the dining table, picking at the fruit salad she had made. "A package?""Yes," She replied, walking towards me with a small brown box. "It's from the master,"With a sigh, I watched her drop the box on the dining table, rocking her feet excitedly. She must be excited to know what was in the box.It had been a week after meeting with Adam. Tom had come home in a good mood a week after I had met with Adam and that reassured me that Adam definitely met with him. Ever since that day he had sent surprise packages home.Aware of Nuren's excited gaze, I reached for the package with a sigh, knowing what was in there couldn't be more than a necklace.Probably something expensive that was studded with diamonds or
Adam's POV"Tell me you've managed to get it done," I told Sally as I walked out of yet another impromptu meeting with an investor.Madeline's scandal had caused me a headache. A huge headache, the size of Everest. I always knew she was crazy, I just never thought I'd bear the brunt of her insanity- again."We're working on it-" Sally said and I resisted the urge to yell. I was sure she was trying. I just didn't like that it took too fucking long!"It's been a week, Sally. A whole fucking week!" I growl, my feet hitting the ground rapidly as I march to my office. I had tons of files to read through. I had a presentation meeting in Greece the next day. I had so many things on my plate, I didn't need this hassle.
Adam's POV"Thank you very much Mr Adam. It was nice having this interview with you." The reporter before me grinned, rising to his feet. He waved a recorder in the air. "I'll ensure that the world gets to hear what really happened.""Thank you," I nodded briskly and watched him leave.Lillian poked her head through the door a few minutes later and I arched a brow tiredly."Is that the last of them?""Yeah," She replied, walking into the office. "And there's good news.""I could use a lot of good news right now," I muttered to myself.I was tired. I had never been so drained in my entire fucking life. The past five days have been hell. A lot of hell. I had hopped from one interview to another trying to fix the mess Madeline had made. It had been hard convincing the reporters that I was not engaged to her whil
