Eve's POV
The chandelier in the living room flickered and I glanced up from my phone to look at it.
Tom had got me the chandelier because he thought it would suit my taste and make our home look more homey. I didn't like it one bit. I didn't even know why I didn't like it.
Perhaps because Tom had got it after he'd landed me in a hospital a few years ago. Or because I was always afraid it would fall one day and crash right on my head.
I shuddered at the thought and scooted to the end of the couch I sat on, hoping the chandelier would not fall anytime soon. I could stand up and go to my room, but I had spent half the day cooped up in it and frankly, I was tired.
Tired of not doing shit.
My eyes drifted to the door and I bit my lip and I watched Nuren wipe the door clean. I couldn't leave the house. Not u
EVE'S POVJamboree? I frowned, my gaze shifting from Tom to the bimbo that just approached us. Our soup hadn't even gotten to us yet and I was already being served. My husband laughed at the sight of his mistress, rising to his feet."Carla!" He cheered, spreading his arms wide. "It has been a while. Haven't seen you since that Jamboree in Santa Monica,"Santa Monica? What on earth were they talking about? When did they meet? The corner of my eyes burned and I looked away from them, glancing around to see if the people in the restaurant were watching my humiliation. They were.A few women even had the look of pity on their faces. Tom paid me no heed. He was all engrossed in his Santa Monica woman, talking excitedly with her.I don't
TOM'S POVHow dare she?!That was all that rang in my head as I dragged my lousy excuse of a wife out of her room. All I had wanted was for her to perform her duty as a wife and she dared deny me.Dared deny me of my rights as a husband!I owned her! I owned everything about her, everything that made her who she was. If I wanted sex, then all she had to do was get ready to give, dammit!I dragged her down the stairs, her please, fueling the rage within me. If she had been sensible, she ought to have just spread those legs like a good little wife and please me!I'd give her a little too much freedom. Aye, that was it. She was too damned free and now she thought she could rebel against me. She deserved to learn a lesson."Please, Tom!" She cried, looking like a banshee with all
EVE’S POV“We’re here, Madam,” The driver’s voice reached my ears.I glanced out of the window at the entrance of the hospital he had parked before. I was no stranger to a place like this. It certainly wasn’t my first time here and unfortunately, I didn’t think it would be my last visit either.I looked away from the hospital, tugging at my sleeve to hide a bruise that was healing on my hands. Tom had taken a look at it that morning and told me to go to the hospital and see the family doctor. He was probably repulsed by the result of his handiwork.“Madam,” The driver called, a straight look on his face.I didn’t want to go in there. I didn’t want to see the doctor. I would rather just curl up in a deep dark cave and hide myse
Adam's POV"Sir?"I glanced up from the document I was reading to see my secretary standing at the door. I hadn't heard her open the door with my head all buried in the mountain of paperwork I had to go through. I was so close to hightailing out of the office and running all the way back to France. But business called. And I couldn't ignore my responsibilities forever."Yes, Lillian?"My voice came out gruff with disuse. It was almost eleven that morning and I hadn't spoken a word to anyone since I had stepped into the office. Not that there was much talking to do."Someone booked an appointment with you," She replied with a grin. Lillian was a woman in her mid thirties, with the most pleasant smile when she felt rather happy and the deadliest gla
Adam’s POVI must have stood there for a long while, staring off into space, reimagining everything all over again. Eve. My blue-eyed pet. She was here in New York, here with me.Within my reach. I almost gave in to the urge to throw my fist in the air like a green boy. Like some twelve-year-old who managed to say a few words to his crush. It bothered the hell out of me.My hands curled, tingling from when I had held her earlier. Touching her reminded me of France. Her skin had felt the same. Soft and satiny smooth, burning under my touch. Fuck, I had missed her.All of her. Her scent lingered faintly in the air, teasing my mind, bringing up memories, and visions that had plagued me about that night.I wanted to relive those moments with her again. If it were left to me, if that chauffeur hadn’t interrupted us, if I didn’t have my sister in the car,
ADAM’S POV“Adam!” My mother snapped, rising to her feet. Her green eyes glared daggers at me, threatening to pulverize me to the ground.I turned to face her, trying to control the rage that brewed within me. “What is she doing here, Mother?”“I invited her,” She said plainly as if that explained everything. She turned to the bitch in question who smiled coyly.“Now come on Adam, This is no way to treat your fiancée,”“Ex-Fiance!” Anabelle hissed, stepping before me. “I don’t know how you managed to get into our house, but you are not welcome here!”“Anabelle, stop it!” Mother cautioned. “Aren't you both listening to me? I said I invited her!”“And why on earth would you do that, Mother?!” I yelled, unable to kee
Eve's POVI stirred the soup, watching the bubbles pop as it boiled. They were hypnotic, drawing me in. I watched them froth over on the pot and found my mind wandering to the one man I shouldn't be thinking about.Golden.I could not think about anything else aside from him ever since we met in front of the hospital. It had been a surprise. A very very pleasant surprise. To think that the man of my dreams, the one man who made me feel pleasure beyond my wildest imagination was right here in New York with me. The thought thrilled me.It drove me giddy with desire and happiness and even though I knew it was hopeless because Tom had me watched constantly, I dreamt about him anyway.Dreams were all I had left.Oh, I could see him all over again in my mind's eye.His golde
Adam's POVI was exhausted as hell. That had to be an understatement. Ah yes, it was. My back was sore from the numerous meetings I had to sit through that day. It was no easy feat raising a company from the rubble. But somehow, it seemed even harder trying to maintain it.The urge to take another vacation grew but I stomped on it mentally as hard as I could. No more vacations. For now at least. I had to ensure that my projects were going as well as I had planned and that all my work in the past few days would not be in vain. But for that to happen? I was going to work myself to the bone.I climbed down the steps that led away from my company. A car pulled up before me just as I reached the last step and a man in a black suit stepped out to retrieve my briefcase.
