Adam's POV
I had my head buried in a gazillion documents when the door to my office flew open. My sister stood at the entrance looking like she had won a dumbass lottery with how hard she was grinning.
A sigh escaped me as I reluctantly reclined against my chair. Anabelle's presence here could mean nothing but chaos. We hadn't had a chance to talk ever since mother's birthday party and I knew, I just knew she had a gazillion questions to ask about Eve. I had seen it in her eyes when she came calling me to attend to the ruckus mother would have created.
"To what do I owe this pleasure?" I grunted. Don't get me wrong, I was pleased to see my little sister. I was just too tired to deal with whatever shenanigans she was determined to throw my way.
"To honor?" She chuckled, the grin on her face widening as she strode into my room.
"What?" I fr
Eve's POVI was home again. No, not the faceless bland home I shared with Tom, a place that has felt more like a cage than a homey shelter in the past ten years. I was back at my parent's house. When I was a kid again.I could see my carefree father's smile as he raced towards me, trying to get a bug I had trapped in my hands out of it before I did something stupid like stuff it in my mouth."Papa!" Little me cried as he snatched the bug and launched it far away, beyond where my eyes could reach. "My bug!""Bugs are a no no," Papa said, his eyes crinkling delightfully as if he was having a blast, watching me.Mama was inside. Probably reading a book or watching through the window. She never really liked the idea of playing outdoors. She would rather we sit round a table of
TOM’S POV“How’s the building plans coming along, Mr Erik?”Mr Erik, the architect for the mall we wanted to build with the Stone company, grunted as if I had asked him to change a baby’s diaper. “It is going well, I suppose. You and Mr Stone are literally asking for the impossible here. You want me to turn in a huge mall design in a week? It’ll be easier to ask me to give you the moon.”Unpleasant jackass, I thought, a sour taste filling my mouth. I already had a terrible night, I did not need a sour puss on my case. I gripped the phone tighter, trying not to lash out.“You were given two weeks, Mr Erik. Giving excuses instead of results does not suit you,”“Two weeks to turn in a building-““You were informed of the duration before you got the job!” I snapped, unable to reel i
Madeline's POV"What's the situation like?""What do you think?" John snickered and I sighed. One would think that after all this while, John would be happier working with me. I gave him a rather huge amount of money, the plan we had was working, what else did the jackass want?"You might want to think a bit more deeply before you give me another snarky reply Mister," I scoffed, holding up a necklace against my neck. The gold hues seemed to complement my skin tone. Good.I had to look good for the event coming up. It wasn't a huge thing. The stone foundation had a get together for their employees and investors and of course, Adam Stone had to be there. And wherever Adam Stone was, I was determined to be there as well. After that nonsense he had pulled with the contract of me representing his mother, he deserved a little bit of torment.&nb
Adam's POVGive me a fucking break!I had known the minute the paps stormed into the hall, asking questions and pretending not to be headed straight for us that Madeline had done it all again. This was definitely her work. She was nothing more than a conniving cheating bitch who would do anything and everything to make sure her goals were accomplished. And she made sure I was one of those goals.Fuck it! This was all mother's fault. She had brought Madeline back into our lives and made it possible for that leech to flourish. Perhaps I had been too complacent. Too fucking complacent. I should have made known what Madeline did to the public. Mother would understand and all of this would not be happening. But hell how was I supposed to know she was going to work her way back into my life? I had thought she was gone for good.
Adam's POV"What the fuck?!"There was a half drained bottle of scotch on the center table. Some loud music was booming from somewhere. I couldn't decipher where it was coming from, mostly Because I was too damned shocked that anything I owned could make such a loud ruckus and because my maid stood at the center of it all- Dancing."Paula!" I snarled, watching the scene with gritted teeth. What the hell had come over her?! She had been my maid for barely a year but she had never, never done something like this. The audacity to raid my cabinet was so surprising, it was almost hilarious. But what on earth was she doing wriggling around. It was almost eleven at night. She was supposed to be long gone.Paula turned around, her blue eyes dazed as she took me in. Then she laughed, stumbling forward. "Mr Stone, you're home finally,"
Eve's POV"Get dressed!"I looked up from the TV at Tom. He stood behind the sofa, a cold look on his face. There was that snarky look in his eyes. A look that made me want to run for my life."W-what?" I mumbled, trying to stop my hands from shaking. What did he want this time? Had I done something to offend him? I tried to think of what had possibly happened that day, but it was four in the evening and I had barely seen Tom until he arrived a few hours ago."I said, get dressed!" He snapped, looking like the next time he spoke, thunder would smack me right in the face.I had barely seen him all day. He had been that way in the past few days. Ever since he had arrived that night, all bloodied and. Ever since the nightmares. I knew something was going on and it definitely had something to do with Barlow.W
Adam's POVEve.Ah she was perfect, just perfect. She laid there in my arms, peering up at me with those beautiful eyes. Blue. It was rapidly becoming my favorite color. I would love to see her swaddled in blue again. Like at the Maxwell ball.Blue, and beautiful and in the spell of some thirty minutes, utterly and completely mine. I hadn't known she was Eve Harrison back then. She was Eve. Just Eve.My Eve.This was a dream. I knew it because in reality, Eve wouldn't be here in my arms so freely. Her eyes would dart around in worry, hoping her bastard husband wouldn't catch her right in my arms. I hated it.I hated being the other man. I hated being exactly what my father was. A cheater and a homewrecker. &
Adam's POV"Three meetings and you managed to fit one with Pierce?" I grumbled at Lillian as I marched towards the board room.I had told her to fix three meetings for the day and move all other meetings forward. Yet she had managed to fix one with Pierce.Fucking Pierce!Dammit, after the not so savory conversation we had at the event the day before, I wasn't expecting to see him so soon. Besides fixing meetings with me took a longer time, I knew he had to have fixed that meeting before yesterday.Hence it should be totally unrelated to his grudge. But it was Pierce we were talking about. The man would definitely try to pick on me about the project with Harrison."He had been vying for a meeting for three months," Lillian explained, walking behind me. "I had tried to cancel on him but he was having none o
