-Vincent-

I was in the meeting when Natalie called and told me about what happened to Evelyn’s grandmother. It was a good thing that I asked Carl to go back to the office to pick up some things that I needed for the next meeting.

But once Carl gave me an update and her hunch as to what had happened to Evelyn’s grandmother, I decided to reschedule my meeting and let Carl focus on assisting Evelyn.

“The doctors advised to keep Miss Anderson’s grandmother for the night to make sure that they didn’t miss anything,” Carl reported.

I was glad that Evelyn’s grandmother was fine and that it was nothing serious, but what concerned me was what Carl found out. It seems that Evelyn’s grandmother was scammed.

“Make sure to find out what exactly happened,” I told Carl, and I even asked him to make sure that everything that Evelyn and her grandmother needed had been taken care of.

My phone rang as soon as I hung up with Carl, I immediately answered thinking it was Evelyn only to be disappointed

-Vincent-“Is your proposal still open?” She asked and the sound of desperation filled her voice. “Come in,” I said as I stepped aside for her to enter. She walked in but stayed just by the door as she crumpled and uncrumpled her hands as if she was not sure if she was doing the right thing or not. “Are you okay?” I asked, trying to check if she would change her mind or not. “Yes,” she whispered. I closed the door and led her to the living room.“Are you just going to stand there or are you telling me the purpose of this visit?”I watch her scurry towards the couch opposite mine and I can tell with the way her body moves that she’s here not because she wanted to but because she had no choice and I can’t say I am not disappointed by it. “Is your proposal still open?” She asked once again but the way she said it this time made me realize that whatever uncertainty she was battling earlier had now disappeared. “Yes,” I replied and I heard a sigh of relief. “Okay,” She said as she co

-Eve-I was a nervous wreck as I got home. I didn’t expect that Vincent would agree with everything, but he did. He fucking did. I replayed what had happened just an hour ago over and over to see if there was something that I had missed. “So,” I said as I looked at him with a smile, “What do we do now, babe?”I watched as his lips quirked up in a smile as he said, “Aren’t we in a rush, babe.” “I guess, I just want to make sure that things go smoothly,” I answered honestly. “Oh, don’t worry about a thing, because it would,” he replied teasing me once again. “For tonight, go home and rest because you will be very busy starting tomorrow.”“Busy?” I asked in confusion. Not sure if he would give me so many tasks as his executive assistant. “Yup,” he said as he stood from his seat. “Don’t come to work tomorrow. Carl will pick you up at ten in the morning.” I took that as a queue to leave. He led me to the door where one of his cars and Carl was waiting outside for me. Carl opened the

-Eve-My deal with Vincent felt so easy. Well, it is easy. All I have to do is play the role that Vincent asked me to and that’s it. But why does a part of me feel uneasy about it? That’s the power of money. It makes you do things out of the ordinary and justify your action with something like, ‘I have no choice but to do it.’ So even though I felt uneasy, I pushed it back and repeated the same mantra I had been repeating all my life, ‘It’s okay, I have no other choice.’Still, I don’t really have the choice to be choosy right now, especially since Vincent has already made a payment. “Where are we going?” I asked as I noticed that Carl didn’t go in the direction of Vincent’s office. “Creating your life,” Vincent replied.“What do you mean by that?” I asked in confusion. “I need my grandmother to think that you’re my prospect for marriage. To ensure that, I need to make sure that you would be able to fit the checklist she has.”“It’s not part of our agreement,” I blurted and he smil

-Eve-It took some time before the bookshop was done. And things had been pretty hectic since then. Vincent enrolled me in several classes that he thought would help me in performing my role well. Aside from my classes, Vincent and I continuously practice how to interact with each other to make sure that we won’t look awkward in front of everyone. It’s been weeks since the last time I saw him. He told me to finish what I needed to finish before our show officially began. He also told me to start letting my grandmother know that I have a new boyfriend because he doesn’t want to surprise her.I also went ahead and made sure that there weren’t any loose ends and no one would bother me and my grandmother again. So I went to the office after I got the money from Vincent to pay for the title of our house only to find out that the police had raided the office and returned all the titles to their respective owners.A part of me wanted to ask Vincent if he has something to do with it, but don’t

-Vincent-Finally, the day that I had been preparing for has arrived. “Your grandmother called, sir,” Carl said pulling me back to the present. “What does she want now?” I asked with a sigh. Since I had slipped about having a girlfriend to stop her from setting me up with blind dates, she never stopped asking me to meet Evelyn. Leading me to make the first mistake I had ever made in my entire life. “We are having our annual charity ball this year,” she said yesterday morning. “I am expecting your girlfriend to be there or I’ll start setting you up for blind dates again.”I hate to admit that I forgot about the charity ball. Which left me with no choice. If my grandmother wants to know Evelyn, then she will know who Evelyn is. But on my own terms. “You’re grandmother wanted you to know that if you didn’t bring your so-called girlfriend, she will start matching you on the event tonight. And if you decide to bail, she will strip your title as CEO of Dreamweaver for fun,” Carl recit

-Eve-I have never been invited to an event with more than ten participants. And as much as I hate going to big events I really have no choice about this since it’s part of my agreement with Vincent. “We’re here, Ms. Anderson,” Carl announced as he stopped by the entrance and ran out to open the door for me. As I got out of the car I realized where we were, it was one of the famous hotels in the city. Carl led me inside and I followed him. He stopped in front of a double-door room with two men guarding the entrance. “She is Mr. Beckett’s girlfriend,” Carl explained to the two guards. “The program just started,” one of the guards explained as they looked at me, making me feel unwelcome.“I don’t think you would want to know what would happen once Mr. Beckett finds out that you didn’t let his girlfriend enter the premises.”I wanted to pull Carl away and tell him to just tell Vincent that we’re here and that I’ll just wait outside until the program ends. But the look that Carl has o

-Vincent-If there was one thing Evelyn was very good at, it was studying. She is so good but still, I will always be better.I watched her interact with my friends and I can’t help but be proud of what she had become. One look at Emmet and Garrett I already know that they want to get a piece of her. Who wouldn’t when she looked so beautiful in the silver silk gown that she was wearing? I watched the way the two of them looked at her and for the first time, I felt the urge to let them know that no one touches her but me. I placed my arm behind her chair and intentionally moved her closer to me. Tony watched me silently but never said a word. One of the many things that I like about him.“I have eyes Vincent and one thing I can’t deny is that she is indeed good-looking,” Garrett said as he loosened the tie that he was wearing. A gesture I know so well. “Oh I know,” I replied, “I just want you to remember that she’s mine.”Both Emmet and Garrett looked at me. I know that my reply surp

-Eve-I waited until we were inside Vincent’s car, trying my best not to let my knees buckle underneath me as I tried to comprehend exactly what had just happened. “What the hell?” I said screaming, surprising not only Vincent but also Carl who was now in the driver's seat. “Why did you do that?” I asked in a calmer voice this time.“I never knew my grandmother would stoop that low,” Vincent admitted. “Why don’t you just go back inside and ask for an apology?” I asked. I would really hate it if one of the richest women in the world hates me so much. “No!” Vincent snapped, his face unreadable. “Just do what you were paid to do.” I was about to retort something rude back at him but decided that this was not the right time. “Where to, Mr. Beckett?” Carl asked. “Let’s take Miss Anderson home first,” Vincent said. The drive home was uncomfortably silent. But none of us said anything. When we reached my house, Vincent was the one who opened the door for me and helped me out. I was

I saw the way she looked at each of the rooms that we stopped by. There was no judgment in them. I know that Evelyn is just seeing the beginning and not yet the dark side of it. As much as I want to confirm to myself that there was a big chance for her to accept me as a whole. I couldn’t do that. Not until she sees the last room of this place. The hardest part of this process isn’t showing her the lifestyle that I've gotten used to. The hardest part in this process is letting her see it as something positive and not look at me like I was a pervert. She glanced at me once in a while, and I could clearly see the internal battles behind her eyes, but she never said anything. I don’t

I just didn’t know that he was that different. “Breathe, little devil,” Vincent whispered. Sending chills down my spine. I exhaled the breath I didn’t know I was holding as I let the view in front of me unfold. I don’t know how to describe what I was feeling right now. Not sure if I could even find the right words. All I know is that this isn’t something I was expecting. “You have the power over everything, little devil,” Vincent reminded. “You have the power to stop everything; all you have to say is your safe word. If this makes you uncomfortable, all you have to do is say your safe word.”A part of me was tempted to do just that. Part of me thinks

-Eve-I don’t know where we are going. I don’t know what is happening. Because I did not see anything, I didn’t know why they had to wear this black cotton cloth over my head. When he placed it over my head, I almost panicked until he slapped my ass playfully. I am not panicking right now because I can feel him beside me. I can smell him beside me, and I am not sure if it was because of the black bag over my head or if it was because I miss Vincent, but every movement he makes just heightens my anticipation. “Is this cloth really necessary?” I asked. “Yes, little devil,” he replied. The low tone of his voice sent a shiver down my spine. It was sexy, it was hot. I felt my pussy clenched. I felt the car we were in stop, but we didn’t get out of the car yet. Instead, I heard hushed whispers, but I couldn’t make out the words that they were saying. The suspense is killing me. “So, this is the girl that won Vincent Beckett’s heart,” a woman with a thick accent said. Although I am no

-Vincent-I know that we’re stepping on unknown ground. I know that I am pushing my luck. But that silent whisper at the back of my head wouldn’t stop telling me to take the chance. To take the risk. But my friends are afraid. That’s the reason why they are here now. I understand where they are coming from, and I have already pushed this idea to the back of my mind so many times. So afraid of what the results might be. So afraid that I might lose the only person who made me realize that my heart was actually beating. But I don’t want to hide from her anymore. I want to have Evelyn as a whole. I want to have everything that she could give me. Even those parts of her that she’s afraid for me to see. Which is why I am pushing for this. I want her to see the worst of me and hope that she will be able to accept it. “Okay,” I finally relent, “We will go now, but before we leave, I want you to give me a safe word.”“Fuck!” I heard Garrett say, but I never tore my eyes from the fiery wom

-Eve-Vincent was tense the whole afternoon. He tries to deny it, but I can see it in his movements and the way his hands keep running through his hair. I know that it wasn’t easy for him to be this open to anyone. It wasn’t easy for him to change what he was used to before he met me. Which is why I appreciate all his efforts in making me feel how much he wanted me to be part of his life. “You need to calm down,” I said, looking up from the book he gave me, watching him pace back and forth in front of me. “Baby,” I called, making him turn to face me. “You are making me nauseous with all the walking that you are doing in front of me. What is bothering you?” He released a loud exhale before walking towards me and taking the seat beside me.“I’m sorry,” he apologized. “You are just so important to me, and I am really afraid that you would go and run away from me.”My eyebrow rose in curiosity was slowly getting the best of me. “Can’t you really tell me where you’re taking me, and why

-Eve-I hate it when bad people win.I hate the fact that, after all the bad things that they had done, they wouldn’t get punished for it. Those people are the kind of people I hate the most. How can they get away from all the bad things that they have done and leave those who are good with so much pain? And why the hell do bad things happen to good people? What the hell have they done that was so wrong for them to deserve such pain? But that’s not what bothers me most. What bothers me is the fact that I was also on the receiving end of that pain. Why did it have to happen to me? What did I do that was so wrong to deserve all the things that had been happening to me?I was a kind and understanding girlfriend. I was kind and helpful to my bestfriend, and yet those two people that I cared for never thought twice of hurting me or ruining the life that I had planned for us.Why do people always take advantage of others? Why can’t they just be truthful enough to just tell me that they don

I am just not sure if this was the same story as the one the Ems told me. “And how she disappeared from the world.”Wait… What?I stared at him even though I promised not to react until he was done with what it was he was going to tell me, but unfortunately, I failed. “Sorry for surprising you, I hope that I didn’t scare you. -Vincent-I am a strong person. I can handle a lot of things that normal people couldn’t. Starting at a young age, my grandmother has already honed me and trained me to be as hard and as strong as titanium. She repeatedly explained that if I want to survive the business, I should be ruthless, smart, goal-oriented, and strong. I was all of those things and more, which is why people who don’t know me viewed me as someone who was cold, uncaring, and ruthless. But the moment I saw Evelyn, under my dress shirt cabinet, naked and scared, something inside me broke. I didn’t know my titanium walls had begun to show some tears and cracks, not until today. I kneeled slowly, praying that I would see the woman I had been looking for all morning. And when I took a peep underneath my dress shirt, just behind the mountain of coats, was my little devil. “Hey, baby,” I whispered, not wanting to scare her. I watched her unfocused eyes turn and met mine. “Vincent,” her voice was shaky, and the f

It felt like I had been working every second of my life, and my body was so sore. I turned to face the other side, looking for Vincent, but found it empty instead. “Vincent?” I called out, breaking the deafening silence that surrounds me. My heart rate starts to pick up its pace. As if there was something urgent that it needed to go to. I pulled the covers away from my body as I sat up. That’s when I realized that my senses went on overdrive. My ears were on high alert because if there is one sense that could help me in my situation, it would be my sense of hearing. I was able to prepare myself for all sorts of things because of my sense of hearing. I knew what was waiting for me whi
