Heather's POV

Although Alex and I kept in touch every single hour of the day, I still felt lonely. There was simply no denying the comfort that physical touch, or just being able to see him brought. It had been three days now since I moved in here, and while I was adjusting just fine, it felt a little lonely being in the big house all by myself.

Bored and tired of sitting still all day, I decided to take a stroll down the neighborhood. Although I had spoken with a few neighbors, the majority still didn't know who I was, and sitting indoors all day was not going to help me socialize with these people.

I headed to my room and put on one of the few casual clothes that I had. A checkered gown that stopped just a few inches above my knees. It was a body fitted gown, and while it seemed like what most people would wear to parties, it was actually one of the few dresses that simply wasn't luxurious enough to make me look like an insufferable show off.

Heather's POV I froze, unable to speak even though I desperately wanted to. I stood still, my entire body trembling despite my best efforts to remain calm. "I'm sorry..." I whispered with my head hung. I didn't want to face Alexander, I couldn't bear to stare into those angry eyes of his. "Sorry? What exactly are you being sorry for? Making a fuss in a restaurant and running off almost immediately?" He returned, his tone laced with unhinged sarcasm. "You didn't do anything, you definitely didn't make me look suspicious when I chased after you." "I'm s..sorry.." I whispered again, my voice cracking as I fought back the tears that threatened to spill from my eyes. My eyes remained on the floor, I still didn't have the confidence to look him in the eyes, not when I could hear the anger and frustration in his tone. It had been stupid of me to react the way I did, but none of that would have happened if Alexander would just love me. I was his wife, why couldn't he just be satisfied

Cynthia's POV The overreacting lady from the restaurant had been weird, but Alexander's reaction to her had even been weirder. He had sprinted after her the moment she exited the restaurant and had ordered me to sit still. It had been two hours since he left, and while I felt the urge to stand up and leave, I remained obedient and patient. If I wanted to make sure that Mathew kept to his own end of our deal then it was crucial that I made Alex fall for me once again. So far there was little progress, but I was certain of my victory. He was still a bit skeptical of me, and that was exactly why I needed to make him trust me once more, even if it meant sitting still for more than two hours. I took a quick sneak at the face of my wrist watch; twenty minutes past four. The sun was already beginning to make its descent, yet there was no sign of Alexander. I had tried calling him a couple of times, but he never picked up the phone. Tired and now out of patience, I rose from my seat an

Alexander's POV It was becoming a lot difficult to resist Cynthia's charms. We were constantly spending time together thanks to ongoing business deals, and there was no denying the fact that staring at her beautiful face all brought back pleasant memories. Cynthia had been the first woman I ever loved, and while I had forgotten about her all this while, seeing her again definitely awakened something deep inside of me. But now I was married, and while Heather might not believe me, I actually cared for her. Just like her, I wanted the world to know about us, I wanted people to know how smart my wife was. But I just couldn't, and it was definitely for her own good. Mathew was dangerous, that fact was already established. And if by any chance he figured out that I had a wife, someone that I actually cared for, I had no doubts in my mind that he would come after her. After twenty minutes of driving and intense thinking, I finally came to a halt in front of Heather's driveway. For a s

Matthew's POV "Alexander? Married?" I exclaimed the moment I read the headlines of a viral Facebook post. "Since when did that bastard get married? And to who—" "Boss, you have a visitor." Viktor's announcement interrupted me. I turned around to meet Cynthia sashaying towards me, her face contorted with confusion and rage. "How long have you known that he was married? How long have you been wasting my time?!" She queried angrily before slamming the magazine in her hand on the table. I rose from my seat and steadily walked to the middle of the room to get a glance of the book she had just dramatically slammed onto the table. It was on the front page, Alexander's marriage announcement. He had definitely gone all out with the news, but for what purpose? What exactly was he trying to accomplish here? I questioned myself. However, now was not the time for that. Cynthia was clearly confused and angry, and while she had failed to read my expressions correctly, I also felt the same way sh

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   032: Who Is The Lucky Girl?

Cynthia's POV She can’t possibly be his wife, can she? The woman I saw at the restaurant? The overreacting one? I questioned myself as I slowly walked towards my car. No, that doesn’t make sense. Alexander would never go for someone like her. He was far out of her league, and there wasn't really anything special about her. She didn't have the grace nor the elegance to catch the attention of a man like Alexander Forger. But then again, it was impossible to just throw the possibility away especially after what had happened yesterday. He had chased after her the moment she left the restaurant, the old Alexander would never chase after a woman, never! And now, this? Suddenly announcing his marriage? It couldn't possibly be a coincidence. Had she forced him to announce their marriage in order to keep the other women away from Alex? It was likely to be the case, especially after seeing how angry and jealous she had been at the restaurant yesterday. However, all of this was based on the

Alexander's POV It was expected, and she hadn't been the first person to question me about it. The news was everywhere now, and I had gotten dozens of emails regarding the matter. Few were congratulatory messages, while the majority were questions from colleagues that I had worked with in the past, a few that I couldn't even recognize. "That's not something you should worry yourself with. It wouldn't help you in any way now, would it?" I returned while I slowly slipped my hand away from hers. "I beg to differ." Came a sharp reply from Cynthia who picked up her glass the moment I stole my hand away from hers. "I want you back, Al, and now you're suddenly married? Did you do it to spite me? Or have you simply just kept your marriage away in order to lead me on?" I rolled my eyes inwardly. As always Cynthia was so full of herself. I had been wondering since the day she called me. What was she really up to? Could it really be that she was in love with me, and genuinely wanted us back

Heather's POV Hearing everybody talk about Alexander's marriage and who the mystery wife might be was already weird enough, but it was nothing compared to being escorted out of the classroom by two men dressed in suites with black tinted shades. The last thing I wanted was to be the center of attention especially when everybody was looking around for the possible wife of Alexander Forger. The whispers and murmurings had begun before I even had the chance to leave the class. I held my face down, wondering where these men could have possibly come from. My heart pounded erratically as I followed the two figures. What if they worked for Mathew? Had it been a mistake to force Alexander into announcing our marriage? I wondered while I searched for possible escape routes as well as readying my voice to scream out for help if it happened to be Mathew. However, it was not Mathew, it was my selfish father in law, Logan Forger. "You look well, Heather. I didn't expect you to return to school

Alexander's POV I had been too occupied with Cynthia to notice that I had gotten a text from Heather early enough. By the time I had seen the message, two hours had passed and Heather had already informed me that she was at home. Without wasting any second, I had immediately driven to her place in order to make sure that she was doing alright. I promised myself to kill Logan Forger if as much as one strand of hair was missing on her head. I will never forgive him if he dared to harm Heather. Anxious and paranoid, I sped through the roads like a madman until I reached my destination. Without care for how my vehicle was parked, I jumped down and immediately raced into the house. Heather was in the kitchen when I entered the room, and from the look of things she seemed to be doing alright. "Are you okay? Did he hurt you?!" I asked while I raced to get a better assessment of her condition. "I'm fine, he didn't do anything to me." Heather replied, but I could tell she wasn't done. R

Heather's POV I let the curtain fall and quickly moved to hide behind the wall the moment Alex's gaze nearly fell on me. My heart was still pounding in my chest, thanks to the unplanned moment we had a few minutes ago. I could still feel the slight tingles left over from then running through my body. It had come as a surprise to me, partly because I was still in a terrible mood with all that had been going on, but mostly because I had not really expected Alex to still have such interest towards me. The man was a notorious playboy, and he had the looks, money and charm to attract any lady he wanted. There was no doubt that he had been playing around with people far higher in value than I was, but for some reason he had continued to turn his sights on me. There was another problem in the picture still. Even though I had tried, I could not remove my mind from thinking about how Alex had gotten that lipstick on his cheek the other night. After he had gotten his ability to walk bac

Heather's POV I wiped down the marble counter of the kitchen for the umpteenth time, until I was finally able to see the reflection of the ceiling on its glistening surface. Looking around the rest of the kitchen which I had spent a majority of the past hour and a half cleaning, I smiled a little at the minor sense of accomplishment that rose within me at that. That did not last long though, once I remembered that I should not really be doing this after all. I was supposed to be the wife of this house, not one of the help. But circumstances had seemed to decide otherwise and my husband himself had agreed with it. I was not always upset with the situation, but every once in a while, I wondered what it would be like if I never had to deal with any of this. From the betrayal at the hands of those shallow, greedy thieves I used to call my parents, to my essential sale to the Forger family, and now to my role as a house maid in the home of Alexander Forger, all in an attempt to k

Heather's POV I had a strong feeling that Cynthia hadn't left even after she exited the restaurant, and I had been correct. The moment I was done with Matt, she had appeared out of nowhere and had intercepted my path. "What?!" I snapped at her angrily. I knew what she was up to, and I was in no mood to play those games with her. "So when were you going to tell Alex about your hot friend?" Cynthia asked just like I had expected she would. She crossed her arms dramatically, a sly grin slowly spreading across her face. Her tone was full of mockery, and I knew she wasn't going to leave me alone unless I said something to her. “I do not owe you an explanation about who I have lunch with,” I replied curtly, but Cynthia wasn't going to leave me alone. Alexander's POV The last thing I had expected to hear when I got up from bed was the fact that Cynthia could be a serial killer. This practically just told me that I had no idea who Cynthia really was, and it genuinely terrified me. But then again, there was a solid possibility that this man was lying. I highly doubted that he was being dishonest, but that was simply not enough to prove that he was lying. "You do not seriously think that I'll believe you, do you? I've only known you for like five minutes, and you expect me to believe that someone I've known for years is a mass murderer of old men?" I challenged, crossing my arms and staring Maxwell down. My voice was steady, but internally, I was grappling with a storm of doubt. As much as I wanted to dismiss his claim outright, there was no denying that Cynthia had definitely changed. Alexander's POV "It's been a while, Alex. How have you been?" Cynthia inquired in her calm soothing voice. I didn't reply immediately, I was far too stunned to reply as quickly as I should have. How did she get my number? Why was she calling? What was going on? My thoughts were a chaotic mess as I stared at my phone, unsure of how to react to the shock of hearing her voice. "Alex?" she prompted, her voice pulling me back to the present, and only then did I realize that I might have been silent for a little too long. I cleared my throat, trying to steady myself. "Cynthia... it's unexpected to hear from you. I've been well, you?" "Well? Surely that's not all," she said with a small laugh that was all too familiar to my memories. "You did just regain your ability to walk after a year, Alex." "Oh," I said, trying my best to sound calm and collected even though I was anything but. My years of experience in hiding my true feelings helped me manage that. "You heard about that

Matthew's POV As a leader of a cartel, there was very little I could not have access to whenever I wanted. Women, money, wealth, there was no limit to the pleasures I could obtain. But at the end of the day, there was something that mattered far more to a man than all of that. Respect was something that could not be bought. It had to be earned, and I had gotten mine through blood and fear. I leaned back in the massive luxurious velvet sofa, hoping to enjoy the show that was currently being put on solely for my viewing pleasure. As I reclined back, several soft hands drifted across my bare chest, caressing my skin with expert seductiveness. My arms automatically extended to wrap around the two closest women at my sides before sliding down to touch them. Even though I felt absolutely nothing for them, they were very much aesthetically pleasant, pretty faces complete with curvy figures dressed in scandalously risque clothes. The multicolored lights on the ceiling above gave th

I suspected that something like that might be going on, but I never really imagined that it would be true. "It wasn't anything serious, I think he just missed my cheeks by accident." Heather explained in a rather frantic voice after she caught the look on my face. I knew for certain that he hadn't missed her cheeks by accident, and I knew that it was definitely something serious for whoever this Matt guy is. Heather might not take it seriously, if she was really committed to the relationship, I was certain she wouldn't let me know. However, I couldn't say the same for Matt who had no idea that Heather was married. "It..it's fine, Heather, I'm not mad at you." I finally replied after a full minute of silence. She had worked up the courage to tell me, and I was really grateful for that. At least she was better than me who couldn't even think of approaching her with the truth
