Chapter 29

As night descended, the office grew dimmer, and Ethan remained seated at his desk with his gaze fixed on the computer screen in front of him. Twelve long hours had passed since he had arrived at work, and his mind began to wander. Despite having attended numerous meetings and responding to all his pending emails, he found himself distracted, unable to shake off the weight of his thoughts. He sifted through papers he didn't have to read, trying to avoid thinking about the situation at hand. Checking the time, he realized it was already past 10 pm. and he needed to leave, as Butler William would worry if he stayed any longer. Ethan grabbed his suitcase, ready to call it a day.

Just as he was about to leave, his phone rang. Jace was calling back with some information he had found. Ethan listened closely as Jace explained what he had uncovered so far.
