Chapter 7: My Girl

Chris’ POV

After Kate went to work, I was totally scared for her. I called on my detective again to make sure he is at his work and after sometime, I got to know that Daniel took her somewhere.

He took her to a restaurant and I came to know that Kate was happy with him. Even if that monster is keeping her happy, it is fine.

Maybe he really likes her.

After all she is so perfect and cute.

After that they went out and he came across media. He said that he expects some privacy.

I mean, what are these journalists for?

For invading the privacy of other people, of course!

Anyways, I knew that it was coming. I was prepared. I switched on the television and saw the headlines.

“Ms. Kaitlyn, sister of Mr. Chris probably in a relationship with Mr. Daniel”

Well, it’s alright, it is not gonna hurt much, I guess.

But then I saw that media was everywhere around our house too. Even the detective told me it was all around Daniel’s car.

This is bad.

Kate hates media.

I called one of my trustees to sort out this matter and to keep Kate away from this.

“But sir, that is going to be very difficult” he said.

“I don’t care” I said. “And you have to keep 24/7 protection on her”

“But sir how is that possible? There is just no stopping on media!” he said.

“I said I DON’T CARE I WANT 24 HOURS PROTECTION ON HER AT ALL COSTS!!” I yelled out of frustration.

He again said that it was not in his hands.

“NO, I DON’T CARE I TOLD YOU!! FU*K YOU, MAN!! I WANT SURVEILLANCE ON HER AND IT IS FINAL!” I yelled again.

“On who, Chris?” I heard Kate’s voice.

Suddenly the phone dropped from my hands out of fear.

I can’t tell her who that bastard is.

If I do, she is dead.

No one can live with this truth... except me of course.

Not Even Dad.

That is why I planned a trip for him for a month. He must be enjoying in Maldives.

But... think of something, Chris. You have done good so far. If that moron really likes Kate then everything is fine. If he wanted to hurt her, he would have already done that.

“O-Oh H-hi Kate” I said. She raised her eyebrows.

“Chris, what’s going on?” she asked.

“Nothing” I said, picking up my phone and cutting the call.

“On who do you want surveillance?” she asked.

“T-That... I-I... uh... on... on my girlfriend!” I made up.

“You have a girlfriend?” she asked shocked.

“Y-Yeah, why not?” I asked.

“You’re not that type, Chris, don’t fool me!” she said.

Oh god, why does she know me so well?

“I-I... people change, Kate” I said. “And... I am... grown up now, I should have someone” She raised her eyebrows again.

“Ohhh I got it. You’re jealous that your younger sister has a boyfriend now?”

Oh yeah, like I would be jealous of that crap being your boyfriend.

“I-I- uh yeah” I replied. She chuckled.

“Good. I would like to meet her” she said.

Not. This.

“uh... S-she...”

“Come on, it’s not like I am going to criticize her” she said.

“oh... yeah... I-I would bring her someday” I said.

“Why are you stuttering?”

“W-Well, stuttering? N-No”

“You’re weird” she said and went to her room.

That. Was. Close.

Anyways, I called him again and this time he listened to me and said that he would do his best. I just need her to be safe. Please, God.

Kaitlyn’s POV

After the weirdest discussion with Chris, I went back to my room and took out my laptop. I started working. I haven’t done a single work today. I shouldn’t be left behind. I have to complete today’s work.

Suddenly, I received a message.

“You don’t need to work today, Kaitlyn” Daniel messaged me.

Oh god, does he have some camera on me?

“How do you know?” I texted back.

“I know my girl that much” he said.

He is cute with his words, trust me.

“Oh, thank you” I replied.

“Anyways, we will hang out tomorrow too” he said.

“Nope. Tomorrow I will work” I said.

“No. That’s an order” he texted.

“Oh seriously!”

“Yeah”

“Okay then, bye” I said.

“Byee”

6 months later

Everything is beautiful right now.

Chris has successfully built up the company again.

It is almost in competition with Sullivan Corporation.

Yeah, fight between my brother and my boyfriend’s companies.

Huh.

Daniel and I... well we are very happy. He is the best man one can ever dream of. He had even come over once and met Chris personally and asked him if he had any problems with our relationship.

As expected, Chris accepted and said that if he could keep me happy, we can be together.

I am so happy.

And today, Daniel has told me to come over his apartment. Well this is the first time... I mean after that time when he told me that he likes me, of course. So, I am a little nervous, but not scared.

He must have got something to say.

Anyways, the media is unexpectedly not troubling us. I am so thankful for this.

This media is definitely not for me.

I got ready in my best casual clothes and opened my hairs. Then I went downstairs. I was shocked to see Chris. He is mostly at his office at this time.

“Hey Kate” he said.

“Hey Chris” I replied.

“You going anywhere?”

“Yeah... Daniel called me over”

“Oh-h he did?”

“Yeah... what’s wrong?” I asked sensing his troubled face.

“Nothing sis. Just... take care” he said.

“Yeah bro, I know” I said and hugged him. He hugged me back.

“I love you Kate” he said.

Well, that must be the first time.

“I love you too bro” I said. He smiled and got away.

“Bye” he said.

“Byee”

I reached Daniel’s apartment by a cab. Actually, he offered me that he would pick me up, but I thought not to disturb him. I have seen lately he has been taking very less time to pay attention on his work. It is always me now. Always on his mind, I guess. Texting, talking, video calls, that is his life most of the time.

And mine too.

I rang the doorbell and he opened the door. His face lit up seeing me.

“Thanks for coming, Kaitlyn” he said. I smiled at him.

“Of course, I would come” I said.

He took me inside and we sat in the living room. The place was very well set, not like the last time.

I mean, last time it was somewhat messy. But this time, not a single thing out of place.

“So?” I asked.

He took my hand and I looked at him.

“Well, this is kind of serious” he said. I nodded hesitantly and he sat down on his knee.

My heart was beating very loudly right now.

“I love you Kaitlyn and I can’t think of spending my life without you now. Will you be my queen?” he asked.

What?

WHAT?

D-Did he propose me!?!

I mean, a MARRIAGE PROPOSAL!?

Or maybe ‘being his queen’ means something else.

“R-Really!?” I asked.

He smiled. “I love your reactions, but not on this. I am really sincere on this one, Kaitlyn. Tell me” he asked me once again.

I started thinking. I... should I?

“So why am I here?” I asked him changing the topic.

“You’re here to marry me” he said.

“M-Marry?” so I was correct... being his queen means to marry him...

“Yes. You want that, right?” he asked.

Think. Think Kaitlyn.

Who can be better than him?

He loves you.

You have seen that in the last 6 months, enough nicely.

Even Chris is okay with this.

What else do you expect from this life?

He can give you everything.

And by everything, I mean Love and Care.

That is all I expect and want.

And he can give you all that and more.

You complete him and he completes you.

“YES!” I finally said.
