LUCA'S POV.
I was having the most fun I'd ever had in my entire life, and it was all thanks to the Damiens. Call me crazy but the looks on their faces as I tormented them made my heart swell with pride and satisfaction. It was funny to me, how dumb they thought I was. Did they really think they could hide their daughter away from me and I would just watch them—doing nothing? No way. From the moment I'd called Ramson and informed him that I'd be visiting their house to talk about the marriage, I'd known that he'd try to act smart. And I was very ready for anything they tried to do.A smirk formed on my face as I watched Scarlett's eyes widen when my boys brought her boyfriend in. She looked beyond shocked at first but then she sighed, relieved that he was still alive. She'd really believed I'd killed him, huh?She was completely wrong though, I knew I was a ruthless man but never in my life would I have thought of killing someone. Even when I'd pointed the gun at her back then, I hadn't meant to shoot her—I could never murder someone—it was only a knee jerk response to her stubbornness. I'd wanted her to understand just how much more powerful than her I was, since she seemed to not understand. For the first time in my life that day, I'd felt outsmarted and weak. The little girl had been stronger than I thought, and smarter too— she'd actually tried to kill me. And I couldn't decide if I was impressed or pissed about it.The latter was stronger though, her stubbornness was driving me crazy. And all I wanted to do was tame her—show her why she should fear me. I hoped she got to understand that soon enough, because that was the only way I could have my revenge against her father.Even though Scarlett seemed pretty much normal (minus her stubborn instincts and the fact that she'd have shot me) her father was the opposite. Ramson Damien was a slimy bastard who was two faced, and knew how to clean up after himself real good. Most people didn't know this—if they were asked they'd probably say he's the easiest going man alive—but I knew different. He was an asshole, and needed to be punished for all his sins he hid from the public.I got out of my thoughts and clapped my hands together, showing my excitement with what was about to happen."Okay, let's get this over with, shall we?" I said, but didn't get a response as expected. Unfazed, I motioned for Scarlett to be brought over towards me and then the lawyer walked in with his bag which contained everything I needed. All the while Scarlett refused to look at him, her eyes fixed to her boyfriend—who my men had strapped to a chair, to give him a VIP pass to the wedding—with his body all weak and face all fucked up.How pathetic, I thought as I watched a tear slid down her cheek as she stared at him. And when I couldn't stand it anymore I prompted the lawyer to get straight to the point. It all happened in a blur of signatures, and occasional reluctance from Scarlett, but finally we were done with the paperwork and she was mine. My wife.I could finally do whatever I wanted with her, and it brought a satisfied smile to my face. I purposely shot a smirk to her boyfriend, wanting to irritate him and his face told me that he wanted to kill me. Honestly, I shouldn't have hated the guy like I did, but I didn't know what it was about the man that rubbed me off wrongly. He seemed like the type that had a lot he was hiding, patiently waiting for the right time to reveal his true self. But what could I say? I hadn't even known him until yesterday. So I could be wrong.Anyways, Scarlett was now legally mine and as I wanted, her father looked wrecked as he stared at the both of us. I purposely looked him in the eye while shaking the lawyer's hand before excurting him out of the room to the front door. When we reached the door, I said, "thank you so much for your services, Hugh. I appreciate...""You've said this a million times, boy, it's okay," he laughed, patting me on the arm. I stared properly at his face and noticed that he seemed to have aged more since the last time I saw him. He used to be a good friend of my dad's when he was alive, and naturally when my dad passed when I was fifteen, he'd just stepped up and into being kind of a dad to me.He knew just how evil Ramson was and was totally in on the plan to destroy him. So, although he'd found my plan to marry Scarlett as crazy at first, he'd eventually understood the reason. And was ready to help in any way he could.Thankfully he was a crazy influencial lawyer, which was why my plan had finally kick-started and Scarlett was now my property."Just thank you once again, for coming all the way," I said genuinely. "I'll make sure to do things right here.""I've got your back anytime, son, don't ever forget that," he gave me a grin and I smiled back. "Okay then, I'll get going to the family now. We're throwing a party for my little girl and I don't wanna be late."When Hugh was gone, I heaved a huge sigh, placed my hands in my pockets and headed back inside where Scarlett was now shedding tears with her parents and lover."You'll be fine dear, don't cry okay?" Her mother said, cradling her head like a child while she continuously sniffed. Ramson stood beside them, looking like an actual good father that was worried about his child, but I knew better. The man was a freakishly good actor. Heck he'd fooled even me at first when I'd seen him many years ago. Back then I wasn't as powerful as I am now, I was still trying to cement my name in the industry. I'd heard about him from some of my close friends and they'd all had only good things to say, so I was convinced he had to be a good guy.The first time we met in person, he'd been respectful and civil towards me, and I could've even said I liked him. However, what had happened between him and my sister had completely changed my mind. The man didn't even deserve to walk this earth. He was a plain monster who spent his free time abusing younger girls and covering up his tracks with his public display of kindness.Yes, you guessed right. Ramson Damien had been abusing my now dead sister throughout the time she worked for him and had threatened her with releasing her nudes to the public. The pressure had been so much on the poor girl, that she'd ended her own life out of frustration. And how did I find out about this? From a fucking dairy!Isabella had had habit of writing down things in her dairy since we were kids, and it wasn't surprising that she'd written down all her frustrations at work in there. At first when I'd picked up the book and started skimming through the writings until I got to the most recent, I'd been shocked beyond words to find out that Ramson had been doing all that to her. But then when I thought back to how she'd been acting very different a month after she'd started to work for him, I wanted to really punch myself in the face and drown.I remember feeling like a fool and a horrible sibling for a whole year, thinking about how oblivious I had been and how I'd failed to stop her from taking that job in the first place. I'd offered her a place at the company back then, but she'd declined saying she wanted to do things herself, and after not much argument, I'd allowed her. When I thought of it, I blamed myself for not being close enough to her that she could've shared her worries with me, and as I kept hating on myself, my hatred for Ramson grew even stronger as days went by.The fact that he'd gotten away with all his despicable acts and moved on like it was nothing, made me feel useless and like I was failing Isabella. It didn't help that there was literally no evidence to show to the court to bring him down. No. The man was one smart bastard when it came to hiding evidence and cleaning his tracks, so it was impossible—even with the influence I had.Heck, he'd fooled his wife and daughter for years now without them suspecting a thing. He was damn good at pretending.Thankfully I wasn't a saint too, I was a ruthless businessman and mean just like him—but just not the type to hurt innocent people who'd done nothing to me(kind of ironic ... Because of what I'd done to Scarlett and her boyfriend, but whatever)—so I was ready to pay him back in his own coins. The plan was short and sweet.Take something precious of his just like he'd done to me—it was only right to give him back what he'd given me, even though he had no idea that he'd done it—and let him have a taste of what it felt like to watch someone you love get maltreated and claimed by an older man while you could do nothing.Call me a sick bastard, but revenge was burning in my veins and as I took a look at all of them, I knew I wasn't about to stop anytime soon.SCARLETT'S POV.The deal had been sealed in the end. And now there was no going back. I was going to be Luca's wife until my dad could afford to pay back the shit load of money he owned him. At least that part, I'd seen very clearly stated in the contract. The rest of it, I hadn't paid attention because I really wasn't interested. All I'd been thinking about while signing those papers was how my life had gone to this, and how I could no longer be with the one I loved. Kevin and I had met at a coffee shop back in my neighbourhood, and I didn't like to believe in connections and all that but I could swear that from the moment we locked eyes, we'd immediately developed a connection.I wasn't one who liked dating and all that, so I'd been single since middle school, but then there was something about Kevin that I hadn't seen in other guys. He was cute, funny, romantic, and overally just a nice guy—just everything I'd wanted in a man. And so it didn't take time for me to accept him as my
LUCA'S POV.I got up the next morning with a large smile on my face, feeling satisfied with the events of yesterday. However when I got to the shower, the loud music I heard had my lips curving into a frown. What the fuck? Who the hell was playing such loud music?I quickly brushed my teeth and put on some decent clothes before making my way out of the room and following the sound of the music. I finally traced the sound to the room I'd designated to Scarlett and immediately I felt my blood boil.I knew there was no way she'd known, but I hated music with a burning passion. It had been ever since I was fifteen and my dad died. My father used to love music so much that he'd once attempted to go into it professionally, but sadly when he got to meet some people in the industry, he changed his mind. And finally the music buddies he'd made ended up being the reason why he was gone. They'd all ganged up on him and ended his life by putting some harsh chemicals in his drink at a party he'd
SCARLETT'S POV.I was convinced. Luca was a complete narcissistic asshole and this conclusion was made after spending a week living with him. As I groggily pulled myself out of bed, a familiar sense of confinement engulfed me like a suffocating embrace. The weight of the marriage pressed heavily against my chest, leaving me feeling trapped and frustrated. Step by step, I made my way downstairs, my movements sluggish with a mix of exhaustion and discontent.Exhaustion because it was physically and mentally draining to live in Luca's mansion. He was obnoxious, authoritative and overbearing, and to add to that, a complete ruthless businessman. I'd heard him on my third day here threatening a man with how he was going to take his family house if he didn't pay back the money he owed him before the end of the year. It was when I witnessed how ruthless he was being with the debtor, that I realised why my Dad had been so hopeless with him. I wouldn't have know what to do with him also if I w
LUCA'S POV.The last thing I'd have ever expected this morning was to see Scarlett in the gym. I'd specifically isolated the room from the rest all because it was the only place in the mansion that didn't make me feel choked. As much as I loved the extravagant lifestyle and everything I had, sometimes it got a little overwhelming, and working out all alone in this place gave me a sense of peace. It made me feel more human. I hated the fact that she'd found my favourite hiding place, and even more I hated what she was currently asking of me. Her eyes went soft and pleading as she stared up at me and I wondered why her eyes were suddenly standing out so much to me. They were a deep green colour that made her look so interesting—like someone whose eyes held so much secrets. I hated them. I hated that she had beautiful eyes, I needed to look away. "I'm not letting you out of this house and that's final," I said, dragging my eyes away from her orbs and focusing on the treadmill. The sw
SCARLETT'S POV.There was a skip in my step as I made my way back to my room. For the first time since I'd been here, I felt happy—ecstatic even. The thought of going back to what I loved the most in the world had my heart swelling with excitement and relief, so much so that I didn't even have the time to feel bad about the perks that came with the new arrangement.I was going to be followed all around like I was a celebrity or the president of some freaking country or something. And that was in no way cool especially since I was someone who hated attention so much, I tried my hardest to be invisible. It didn't mean I was some introverted, weak woman that could get bullied and tossed over, because no I wasn't. I just really preferred a low-key life to the lavish one—the type of my life that my Dad liked. My father was the kind of man who loved the extravagant lifestyle and I guess my Mum had just had to shape herself into the kind of woman he wanted her to be, because she too acted l
LUCA'S POV.If I heard one more word about somebody wanting to see me, I might've just punched myself square in the face. It was on days like these that I hated the choice I made to be a money lender, everybody wanted to beg for mercy once they couldn't pay, and I couldn't handle those much meetings. I'd just finished with an Indian CEO who I'd lent fifty thousand dollars two months ago to fund his startup, and I must say I was completely spent. At first I'd been very confident in him and his business, because I had a thing for startups, but he'd eventually started to prove me wrong with all the wrong business decisions he'd been making, and now he had been here to beg me for more time just like the rest of them. So disappointing.I took a deep breath and massaged my temples before my phone started ringing, cutting me off from my thoughts. I snagged the device from the table and scrunched my brows when I saw the contact name. Matt freaking Hawkins.I picked up immediately. "Look who
SCARLETT'S POV. After the best shower I'd taken since I'd been in this house, I got out of the shower feeling all clean and pampered like a new born . I would've taken sometime to admire my fresh face in the mirror, but I got reminded that I didn't have enough time for admiring when I had a two hour long drive ahead of me. I quickly got my hair styled into a sleek ponytail and got dressed in some school friendly clothes. After a forced conversation with Luca yesterday evening when he'd got back, he'd agreed to allow me get my school things from the house.I'd been happy at first at the possibility of seeing my parents, but then he'd killed my excitement by letting me know that his men were going to get them for me, and I was going to have my materials ready in the morning when I was ready to go. I didn't know what was his problem with cutting me off from my family though, it was just so weird. The whole thing was still weird to me, why would a man of his age and looks want to buy a
SCARLETT'S POV.The familiar buzz of the school environment had my lips turning up, and when we got closer to the parking lot and I sighted a few people that I knew, I bursted into a huge grin, feeling my soul come alive again."Thanks for the drive, I'll get going now," I told big guy, taking off my seatbelt and getting my mind prepared for the day.I caught his smile from the mirror and I couldn't help but think the he was way nicer than he looked. He seemed like somebody with a story that I'd liked to hear one day, but that was going to be later. All that was on my mind right now was how to break it to my friends that I was now married to Luca freaking Nicholas."Have fun, Scarlett, and be like me. Don't give a damn about what anyone thinks and you'll live a way better life," he advised, gesturing for me to step out and I nodded."I'll be sure to remember that, see you later," I got out of the car and of course once I got out I noticed there were lots of eyes on me, but then I rem
