I moved out of the way for him to pass, with smiles on my face trying so hard to hide the nervousness that was slowly creping in because of his presence. I watched him closely as he left the door and walked past me, but then stopped and turned back as though he forgot something.
He looked at me with a stern glare and an expression that depict disgust before going to meet my parent. I couldn’t tell why he had that sulky look, but then I could tell that something wasn’t all right. I immediately followed him and ran towards my mother who stood by a Conner of the room with tears rolling down her eyes, and some pieces of dollar note littered on the floor. “Mom, you have to stop crying, and tell me what is going on” I interjected, with a tone of urgency. As my heart throbbed as though wanting to fly out from my chest. I waited for her responds but didn’t get any, stretched out my arm and gave her a warm hug to stop her from crying but that didn’t help, as more tears rolled down her eyes soaking my upper top. I consciously held myself from crying because, one person has to stay strong to take care of the others. I turned my gaze to look at the man, who sat on the chair he wasn’t invited to sit, with his legs crossed and his arm wrapped around his body with an emotionless face. It then dawned on me that my father was on the bed, lying as though lifeless. “O my world. Dam it! this can’t be!” I screamed out, wrapping my arms around her body. “Mom, was there an accident” I questioned as I ran towards my father who had his both eyes shut, and his body hooked at a spot. My heart began to beat faster and my breath started coming in short burst. It seemed as though everything was on stand still, while I slowly observed him. For a minute, I didn’t know what to think, he wasn’t breathing again. “Is he dead” I questioned inwardly, as hut steams of tears gathered in my eyes making everywhere blur. I turned to look at my mother who had her mouth slightly open and her body glued to the wall, with fear hovering around her face, my gaze gradually darted towards the other man, who was still seated at the position without an expression on his face. He immediately looked suspicious to me, and I became determined to give him, his own share of the cake if he had anything to do with my family present state. The environment was so tensed for me to utter any statement. Each time I try to talk, the words just disappears from my mouth into the thin air, making me startled and scared. I looked back at my father, ran my hands through his face, and allowed the tears that forced it way down to flow. Different horrific thought cladded my mind and all I could do at the moment was wish it wasn’t true. His cough, snapped me off my thought, making me jerk in fear. I looked at him and realized that he was only sleeping and not dead. I immediately released the breath I didn’t know I was holding before. “Dad, you made me scared, I felt you were dead” I said, letting out a wide smile. As I looked at his surprised face. “Are you okay? Is there any problem” I questioned, with my gaze still fixed on his. I became a little bit worried with the way he looked at me. “Could it be that the stroke is affecting his brain” I whispered, looked at my mother who was already by my side.“Ashely why are you here?” He finally spoke out after few minute of total silence.“What?!” I questioned with a frown on my face. I couldn’t understand his reasons for asking me why I was with him in the hospital. “Where else would he want me to be?” I yelled “Ho, it’s possible he thinks my welcome party was still going on” I thought and immediately became calm. “That. It’s over now dad, it went well but you guys weren’t there so I didn’t enjoy myself” I said and looked at my mom who nodded in responds to what I said.“And after the party, why did you come here?” he questioned still wearing a frown on his face. I looked at my mother who now looked worried, turned my gaze towards the man who still sat in his position with smiles on his face, as though enjoying our conversation. “Ashely” my father called making my gaze fall back at him. “I can lose all I have worked for over the years, and still be fine but not you.’ He said in a shaky voice “Hurry up now and take the available flight to your grandmother’s place, before our enemy comes and sees you. I and your mother would be fine” “our enemy?” I interjected. Okay now, it’s obvious that you guys have thrown me out of the house. What the fuck is happening, who is the enemy?” I questioned with my eyes burning in range. I tilted my gaze gradually to look at the man, who now burst into a loud laughter. “Sniffing dog run!! The enemy is coming. Hurry, hurry! Take the next flight to grand moms place” he spoke in a sarcastic manner. Making my father jerk up in surprise to look at him. The environment suddenly became tensed, as he and my father locked eye together. I stood with my arms wrapped around my body wondering who he called sniffing dog, while my gaze traveled around the room observing their body movements and the different emotions clustered on their faces."what the hell is happening?"“Don’t touch my daughter, she didn’t do anything to you” my father finally broke the silent with a trembling voice, as he struggled to stop the tears that had already started flowing from his eyes. My heart began to throb rapidly, as the boiling sound of anger made its way to my brain causing me to hate with passion the figure that stood opposite me. “Ho, Montenegro, I see you are now very humble" Laughs mockingly “kneel down to me, so that I would consider your request” he said in a command. I was still trying to process everything that was happening, when I saw my mother run towards him and kneel with tears rolling down her cheeks. “Please she is the only child we have got, don’t harm her let her go” she pleaded “Am I the target? Nobody has said anything to me” I knew it was time to act, but then acting in ignorance would only add fuel to the already blazing fire. I needed to think fast and at the same time think smart. “Montenegro, can you tell this whore to get out of my way?
Ashely’s pov“What!?”I thundered, as my heart suddenly beings to palpitate as though threating to jump out of my chest. Breathing so fast, I raised my head gradually in surprise, uncertainty and anger and meet his cold stern glare peering directly at me. His words thundered into my ears like distorted sound of frequency, making the environment sound noisy and rowdy despite it being dead silent. I turned my gaze towards my parent expecting them to say something or rather call the cops on the monster standing in front of me but that looked impossible because, they both had more fear and confusion clustered on their faces. The environment is for real, tensed. And all I can think of at the moment is to eliminate the cute monster who is trying to shatter my family, my dreams to pieces. “This has become my battle, and I am going to fight it to the end” I braced up and faced him, but at first glance, I looked like a baby mouse at the feet of a giant elephant. That didn’t have so much effec
But for now my darling, we need you to run as fast as you can.” This time my mom spoke in a more audible voice but with agitation adorned on her face. As she spoke, I couldn’t help but wonder why they were both scared of him. The parent I grew up with, thought me to face my fear and not to allow anyone treat me wrongly by always standing my ground, but with everything happening now, I can’t really tell if they are still holding on to their principles or has allowed fear to rule their mind. “Mom… are you guys guilty of the accusation he made earlier? Did you and dad really kill his parent to take away their wealth?” I questioned in a very low tone with my head buried in between my legs. A long pause silenced our conversation making it easy to hear the sound of our breath, every second counted as though it’s was decade. Several thought cladded my mind and slowly I began to question who I really was, I expected my parent to immediately interject, the moment I asked the question but ins
I sat with my hands fixed on my chin as several though pooped on my head making me feel scared and uncertain, Ministers Falcon's voice kept playing a sound that wasn’t pleasing to hear at all which made every second seems as long as an hour. I grew up knowing him as someone who doesn’t go back to his words, and until I find a wife for myself, he would go to whatever extent to make sure I marry his friend’s daughter. “Now that he has spoken about getting married, I would be forced to decide for Ashely myself. And at this point, she would be left with no other choice than to marry me” I muttered as I stretched my hands and grabbed my phone that was lying lifeless by the side of my table. My eyes immediately darted towards the time the moment it turned on. “Wow” I shouted in utmost surprise. She thinks she is smart” I yelled sauntering around my office with a gloomy look and a beating heart. I needed to think of a way to go around this without causing extra trouble and dragging so muc
I said, steams of tears gathered in my eyes making it difficult for me to read accurately the number on the card, my whole body started shaking as though dogged into a big jar of ice, and the environment became tensed as everybody had their heart held on their hand. “F**k that wicked man would be here in a minute. Are you sure you want to do this” she asked as tears rolled down her cheeks. I picked up my phone and stared at the number I was about to punch “Yes Mom” I responded.picked up my phone and punched his number with my heart beating as though in a race, as soon as it rang, he answered but decided to stay mute. I couldn’t bring myself to utter any word as all I thought about was horror. “Why did you call me if you didn’t have anything to say” he bellowed at the other side of the phone making me freeze in fear, my heart was already broken and shattered to pieces, all I knew to do at the moment was cry “you know what, I don’t have all the time to listen to you cry, whatever deci
“You should learn to mind your business and not interfering in other peoples matter. Get ready, the boss has a big punishment for going against his number one rule.” He bellowed in a very harsh tone, without an iota of sympathy in it. I placed my hands on my chest, to feel my heart beats” it’s barely an hour here, and I already have a big punishment to serve.” I heaved out in frustration “what kind of a man dose he even think he is?” I questioned, while fighting the tears that had already gathered in my eyes. After a very long walk, we got to a big brown door without an opening handle. The door looked so big and could be likened to the gate of a city. The entrance to the door, was wide and vast but there was something off about it, unlike where we started walking from, the place looked bleak, isolated and dissolute. That added an extra confusion to my already confused state. I still couldn’t tell where I was “his office, his home, a factory, where exactly am I?” I inquired out of cur
I was already getting tired and annoyed, not only was Nathaniel crazy, cold and heartless all his staffs too exude those quality. It had been close to an hour already, and he hadn’t even made any attempt to show up or ask that I come in. “who the hell does he exactly think he is” I snorted, placing my hands on the door to knock. “If I do this for the next ten minutes, without getting any responds, I would…” I burst into a loud cry as the situation looked hopeless, because there is no much I can do rather than to wrap my arms around my body and cry my eyes out of its socket. NAT POV I stood by my window with a binocular observing the environment while waiting for her arrival. Several uncertain thought cladded my mind which made me a bit worried and restless. I couldn’t tell why I kept worrying about her, not that she is special or extremely beautiful, but there is something that just makes me worried without cost. All my life I have hated the sight of women, I see them as confused sex
“I did prefer that you mind your business and head back to work” I hollered stopping her at the spot. I threw my gaze back to the surveillance monitor to watch Ashely who at this time was already knocking on the door, I smirked seeing how hopeless and frustrated she looked nothing gave me joy at them moment more than the expressions that was clustered on Ashely’s face. Clara at the other hand kept stealing glances at me, as though she didn’t believe what I said. “Get the guards ready, I would be leaving for my uncle’s house in a minute.” I said to Clara who still had confusion clustered on her face. ASHELY POVThe tall brown door was soon pushed open, coming out were a bunch of tall, huge, scary looking guys all on black and their faces covered in Mask. “This must be the monster. Finally, he decided to come out” I snorted with my gaze fixed on door. I gasped out in fear the moment my eyes meet with his cold stare, I immediately felt tensed, and the environment suddenly became so hot
