(Evy's Point of View)It was another monotonous day at the office but that was a point of correction, it was ordinary till my secretary sauntered into my office with a spooked expression.I pushed up an eyebrow at her aghast expression. "Is there something wrong, Hannah?" She cleared her throat and got closer to my table. "M-Mrs Evans, your husband is outside and is asking to see you,"My brows furrowed. "My what? And what did you just call me?" I demanded, already knowing who caused all this. What was he doing in my building?"M-miss Williams, I'm sorry, he said I should address you that. He said he's your husband and if he doesn't see you in the next minute, he's going to scream your marriage to the earrings of everyone and he looked deadpanned when he said it,"I tsked. "Get security to throw him out, I don't want to see him," I waved my hand dismissively but the door of my office opened and the last person I wish to see on earth ambled in as if he owned the place, hands tucked in
(Evy's Point of View)"What do you want to have baby,"I shrieked and rolled my eyes at the man hunching in the opposite chair from me, sporting a portable smirk on his handsome face as he looked through the menu of the restaurant we found ourselves in. "I thought we came here because you wanted something to eat, I don't want to. I came so we can talk,"He shrugged. "We can do that while we eat. What do you want to have baby?"I rolled my eyes and grabbed my menu from the table. "Excuse me?" I called the waitress approaching our way and she came directly to our table with her notepad."What would you like to have?" Came her sweet tone and I didn't fail to notice the way her eyes traversed to Sebastian and they remained there, almost like she was enticed by something on his face. I dropped the menu and cleared my throat, gaining her attention. "What can I get you ma?""I will have a shaved carrot and radish salad and a glass of juice. Thank you," Sebastian looked up from the menu at t
(Kim's Point of View)Nervousness was an understatement to what I felt as I finally arrived at the entrance of LGPC and my heart took rapid beats as I collided with Ryan at the entrance."Kim!" He beamed at the sight of me and I returned the smile, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear and I watched as his eye dropped on the ring on my ring. I immediately dropped my hand, noticing the look of disappointment in his eyes. Seemed like he didn't notice the ring on the day of the interview and I had my family surname on my resume instead of my husband."I didn't realize you are already married, Kim?" He questioned and I couldn't detect anything from his tone and the smile on his face seemed forced."Yes, I'm married," I answered and the words seemed somewhat right on my tongue and made my chest swell with pride for an unknown reason."Congratulations. I wonder who the lucky man is!" He exclaimed with a wider grin and dead eyes. "I believe this is your first day?" He wondered and I nodded.
(Evy's Point of View,) "What are you doing here?" My tone was snappy but I didn't care and he also didn't care as he stepped into my office unannounced, locking it behind him "And who let you in here?" I questioned again while his sliver eyes drilled into my face as he stopped in front of my table, hands tucked into his pocket, looking more dashing than ever. "Have you decided, baby?" He catechized and I grimaced at his grim expression. "You haven't answered my questions, Mr. Evans!" "You didn't answer mine and it has been lingering for the past two days now. I've lost my patience!" He countered and I sighed, standing from my seat to stand in front of him with my arms crossed over my chest. "What If I don't have an answer?" I asked and watched his lips stretch into a cocky smirk and a glint of lust in his dark eyes that made me nearly quiver. He stepped forward, closing the little gap between us and moved to my ear, and whispered in a low, domineering tone. "It's either you give
(Kim's Point Of View)I have never been fond of parties, even after graduating from college, I still couldn't stand the plangent music and I thought we were coming to a restaurant to have some fun, I never thought it was a house party that was being hosted by some guy Vivian was charming.I sighed, peering down at my wristwatch for the hundredth time since I trudged in through the door. It was getting late and I needed to leave.I was already gathering my things into my purse when Ryan suddenly appeared with a glass of alcohol, holding it out to me. "I really have to leave," I told him and I watched his face hew in dissatisfaction and my heart squeezed. "We just got here, I thought we could have some time together after the long tiring hours in the office," He asserted with a sad tone. "Is your husband gonna get mad?" I shook my head. I didn't think Arthur would get mad that I was out with my colleagues and boss.Ryan shrugged. "I don't see why you can't stay a little longer. At lea
(Kim's Point of View)For the second time in twenty minutes, I peered down at my wristwatch and stared at the staircase of Eloise's ballet dance class building, anticipating her to run down the stairs any minute, and two more minutes later, she sprinted down the stairs in her pink ballet tutu dress and black toe shoes and a pink bag pack hanged on her shoulder."Kim!" She clamored, quickly running into my open arms. "Oh my gosh, I missed you so much you have no idea," She broke the hug, and with her hands still on my shoulders, she bounced heartily on her feet. I reached out and skim a finger at the bridge of her nose, making her giggle. "I missed you too baby sister, which is why I came to pick you up today, let's have dinner together," I beamed widely and she shrieked loudly, catching the attention of others as they sent us weird peeks."I'm so excited. Let's go to my favorite restaurant!" She hooked her hand around my arm and dragged me out of the building and once again, she sque
(Kim's POV)It was a Sunday and there was nothing to do on a Sunday. I shuffled out of my room in my baggy clothes with my camera hung around my neck, I waddled out of the mansion, heading straight to the garden, however, I couldn't help but pause at the sight of Arthur in his usual spot under the tree but he wasn't alone. I instantly recognized the man as Arthur's best man at the wedding. I sulked, realizing this was the second time I'd seen him after the wedding. Where had he been? Curiosity hauled me closer as I heard Arthur cough into a handkerchief, making the best man whom I didn't know the name of yet gasping at whatever he saw."That's blood!" He exclaimed and I pause at what I heard and my shoulders tensed up. Arthur was coughing out blood. Was he sick? "How long has this been going on?" The best man continued and I heard Arthur sigh."It's nothing, Lucas," Arthur dismissed the question, letting out another dry cough into the handkerchief."You are coughing out blood and yo
(Evy's Point of View)I couldn't believe I was doing this, I had no idea how Diana talked me into accepting Sebastian's offer because she believed I was in for a wondrous adventure which I somewhat believed, nonetheless, this was crazy. I wasn't a teenager, I shouldn't be striving for a pilgrimage with a man like Sebastian Evans. Now right, we were in his grandma's house. The home was cozy and comfortable, clearly, the woman must be welcoming. One could tell a lot about a person with their surrounding. For some reason, I wasn't nervous to meet Sebastian's mother and put on this stage we had rehearsed over and over again, I almost didn't care. "You don't have to be anxious, my grandma is welcoming," Sebastian whispered beside my ear, moving in to kiss my cheek from where we hunched together on the sofa, waiting for the elderly woman to come meet us."I'm 32 Sebastian, not a teenager, and believe me, I've done this before," I rolled my eyes. I had told him I was once taken the plunge.
I'd want to take this opportunity to thank you everyone for reading this book. I am aware that there are many novels out there that are superior to mine, but the fact that you took the time to finish it warms my heart. You don't know how happy you've made me by starting and ending this adventure with me, so thank you. It gives me a sense of fulfillment. Thank you. If you have any questions, please ask. And please... And don't forget to vote, comment, and give this poor author a review; it would mean the world to me. Please take the time to look at my other works as well; I hope you'll like them all. Bless you all and love you all. Bye!
(Kim's Point of View)"Congratulations, Mrs. Rodriguez, you are two weeks pregnant."I gaped, too shocked while staring at the doctor till fingers were snapping in front of my face. I turned to look at Ivy, she was giggling."You should see your face, Kim. Congrats! Killian is gonna have a younger one." Once I'd overcome the shock, I smiled at the doctor before standing up, pulling Ivy with me."Thank you, Doctor, I will be right on time for my cheek-ups." She returned the smile and we walked out of the office, once we were out, I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. We began heading towards the exit."You don't look so happy with the news?" Ivy observed."You don't have to worry your pretty brain Ivy, I am happy. I was just shocked. I just wasn't expecting to get pregnant so quickly, Killian is not even 2 years old yet." I shrugged. We stepped out of the hospital and went to the parking lot where my car was. I was about to open the door when..."Kim! Ivy!"The loud call of
(Ivy's Point Of View)Meet the Author of 'Enigma'Fan signs were one thing I always look forward to. Though the money I get went straight to my bank account, meeting the fans made me feel like people were really reading.I was a bestseller, I know but nothing surpassed the feeling of meeting the fans and giving my autograph. I look forward to it every time."Thank you for coming." I smiled at my 20th fan today, taking her copy of my book. It was a 17-year-old girl with the curliest hair I'd ever seen and here I was thinking Kim's hair was curly but she ruined it by straightening it up. "I like your hair, it's pretty." I handed her back the book while a blush crept to her face. "Will you be writing a new book soon?" She stared at me expectantly, the look in her eyes was bounding, it made me want to spill all my secrets.I cracked a wide smile, motioning my hand for her to get closer. She leaned crossed the table that separated us. I moved to her ear."This is a secret but I felt you s
[EVY’S POINT OF VIEW]Mrs. Evans was in jail, Nate was gone, and I couldn't be happier, but I couldn't say the same for Seb. He always had this expression that said he was regretting a lot of things, and I was at a loss for words as to how to console him. I’d tried to but he was always busy with one thing or the other. While waiting for Seb to descend the stairs, I stood on the last step and stared up at the ceiling. When Seb finally did, he descended with sluggish steps.“Do I have to?” Standing in front of me, he questioned. “I told you I’m fine, I don’t need to step out. I’ll survive.”I grinned and took his hand in mine slowly. "I know, but since I've already made reservations, I want to take you out."He gave me a beseeching look. “Can’t we stay at home?”"Of course not, I'd like to spend some time with my husband; we haven't gone out since we returned. Please, don’t say no?” My lips created a pout.He smiled and reached out to pinch my cheeks. "I'll do anything for you, baby."
[Kim’s Point of View]I awoke thirsty at 4 a.m. With an empty glass in hand, I decided to go to the kitchen, but I stopped short for a split second when I noticed Arthur also sipping on water.I immediately turned away from him when he turned to look at me and went to the refrigerator without saying a word.I reached for a bottle of water and filled the glass."Are you still mad at me?" he asked abruptly, causing me to pause for a moment."No," I replied flatly. “It doesn’t look like it.” He retorted.“You don’t know everything just by looking.” I controlled my urge to grit my teeth. For a moment, I believed he had left because all I could hear was my breathing. However, that was before a hand suddenly wrapped around my wrist and spun me without warning.I opened my mouth to protest, but Arthur abruptly lifted me by the hips as if I were no heavier than a piece of paper and set me down on the kitchen counter before I had a chance to say anything. Once more, I was unable to respond as
(Kim's Point of View)When Ms. Ruth entered the room, I was settling Killian for a nap. She appeared tense, almost as if something was pursuing her. "Is there something wrong, Ms. Ruth?" I turned away from Killian once he was completely out.She gulped. "Your mother is outside, and she is completely insane. I wasn't sure if I should let her in because your conversation didn't end well the last time she was here, and from what I saw outside, this conversation wouldn't either." I cracked a smile and placed a hand over her shoulder. "You don't need to worry, Ms. Ruth; I'll take care of my Mom; she's probably here because of Kareen."Her favorite child has been arrested, of course, she would come here.I exited the room, passing Ms. Ruth.My mother was yelling from the front gate when I arrived outside the mansion. I sighed as I stepped forward and unlocked the gate."Mo-"I wasn't able to finish as her palm struck my cheek. My head tipped to the side as a result of the collision, which
(Kim's Point of View)There were several reasons why I needed to visit Mrs. Evans in her cell after two days in jail, but when I arrived at the station, I realized Arthur and I weren't the only ones there; Seb and Evy were also there."Kim!" Evy exclaimed as she rushed over to me and wrapped her arms around me in a hug, which I reciprocated. It was pleasant. I grinned at her when we separated. "How have you been?" I inquired. She grinned even wider. "Good since our last meeting. You are here for Mrs. Evans too?" She grilled, and I nodded. "We, too, Seb, wanted to talk to his mother one last time."I cast a glance behind her, where Arthur and Seb were conversing. I noticed Seb didn't have his usual gleeful glint in his eyes. "He's deeply affected," I remarked, returning my gaze to Evy and watching her nod. "He feels guilty about not finding it out sooner."No one would suspect their mother of being a bitch, so I wouldn't hold it against him if he didn't notice.Officer Nim approached
(Diana's Point Of View)The airport's transit lounge was less crowded than the rest of the facility, which was bustling with activity.I sat on one of the chairs, a flight ticket to California, Los Angeles. Well, she didn't tell me where she wanted to land.I repeatedly patted my feet on the ground to maintain my composure, but the longer I waited, the tenser I became because the flight would depart in 30 minutes and she still wasn't there.Did she change her mind? Oh, please let her not, please.I tried to find any figure that might stand out as I scanned the area, but I was constantly let down. I sighed in defeat, and just when I dropped my head, a hand suddenly fell on my shoulder, my head bolted up and I jolted up to my feet at the sight of Mrs. Evans, I could barely recognize her with the amount of clothing she had on. She took off her glasses."Mummy!" Jasper cries out, and I look down at my five-year-old son. He had tears in his eyes and just when he was about to cross over to
(Evy's Point of View)"You should eat something." I stared expectantly at Seb with a small assuring smile as I placed a plate of omelets in front of him.Diana had left a while ago."I'm not hungry right now." He gently pushed the plate back to me."If you are angry at me for not telling the truth, then I'm sorry. I just didn't want you to feel like this and right now, this is affecting me more than you think!" I enunciated. I just wanted my affectionate and doting husband back, not this caliginous man sitting in front of me on the kitchen stool. He sighed, then wiped his face with his hands. "I'm not mad at you, Evy, I'm just mad at myself for not seeing or knowing this sooner.""You couldn't have known, she's your Mom." I sat on the stool beside him."I know but I should have known, I lived with her for my whole life. I should have known she was doing so much right under my nose. I feel so guilty." He divulged.I rubbed his back as comfort. "It's not your fault your Mom is pleonasti
