She's awake

“She was shot,” I told him, realizing I wouldn't be able to keep something like this from him for a long time. Not only that, I could tell Nova wouldn't be pleased to hear I kept this from him. She would want him to know seeing how close they were. So close, it made me angry each time I thought about it.

“Shot?!” He screamed from the other end, his voice almost deafening. “When did that happen? Where is she? Did you find the one who hurt her? Where is the bastard??"

“If I did know that, do you think I would be here listening to you?” I scoffed at that, crossing my legs as my gaze returned to the door. I saw three doctors enter the room Nova was lying in, but I didn't move towards them because of the call I was having.

“Where are you guys? Is she in the hospital? Which one?”

“I don't —”

“Mr Dashiell, your wife has woken up!” The nurse who was in charge of watching her said, rushing out of the room with a cheerful expression on her face. She was barely keeping the smile off her face.
