Eric

“Someone’s here to see you.” Esmeralda said after she had entered, and I groaned.

“Esme, you do understand the urgency of the matter at hand, right? We are close to finalising this deal, and I do not desire to see anyone at this moment. Please let the person come some other time.” I said, but some intruder already barged into my office.

“You lie.” She said, and I wondered who that was. I then recalled. Lachlan’s girlfriend. What the fuck?

“Miss, you aren’t supposed to be here.” Esmeralda said calmly, trying not to lose her temper. She was quite professional, because I already lost mine.

“You think I’m here to ask for your help. I’m here to help you!” She screamed at me, searching through her bag for something.

"Esmeralda, will you get this bitch out of my office?” I said, fighting desperately not to transfer aggressions. I didn’t know why she was so gentle with her.

"Miss, you have to leave. Do not make me call the security.” Esmeralda said, trying to force her out of the office

Amelia We had pulled away from each other, panting. We locked eyes and immediately detached hurriedly from ourselves, like we hadn’t just had that hot make-out session. I wiped my mouth speedily. Fuck! What have I just done? I didn’t just make out with a man I should be divorcing soon, right? “Shut Aubrey. You know what you just did.” My stupid mind chided me, and I widened my eyes. For so long, I have never felt such passion as I felt a few minutes ago. I was so lost in it. It awakened every fibre in my being except my senses. I couldn’t even believe I had pulled him closer to myself as I drowned deeper in the ocean of passion. He kissed me from my lips down my neckline to my shoulders and up to my lips again, running his cold tongue as he did at intervals. It did a million on me. I bit my lip to keep myself from moaning, but I couldn’t help it, as I felt his cold tongue on my skin. Damn it! This man would be the end of me. I was so certain. And weren’t people watching us as

Amelia We were returning from the cinema and heading home finally. It was all a rollercoaster of fun with some bits of emotion here and there. At the cinema, focus was no longer on us but the movie, and we were so lost in its storyline. Never thought I was a fan of action movies with a touch of romance. But then, if my husband likes it, I sure do. Oops! What did I just say? I smiled sheepishly at the stupid thought and scolded myself mentally. Gosh, I was such a girl.“Thank you,” I said, interrupting my husband, who seemed lost in the song playing from the car’s stereo as he hummed along while driving.“Hmmm?” “Thank you.” I said louder and gave him a quick peck on his cheek. He smiled. I just knew that was a good way of showing my gratitude.I was almost tempted to ask why now. Why has he come to this realisation now? Why was he choosing to treat me like this now, after so long? I sighed. I knew I would never have the answers. But I guess I could enjoy it while it lasted. I also

Lachlan The lights penetrating from the blinds affected my eyes, slowly getting me out of my slumber. I opened my eyes slowly, yawning simultaneously, before fully opening my eyes. Immediately I opened them fully, and they fell on her. I wore a smile. Cuddled up in my arms, I doubted if I had seen anything this gorgeous. And just then, I knew my day wouldn’t be anything less.Last night was heaven, damn! Who could have thought? I could never have imagined she'd got such guts. And all the things she did to me last night, dear heavens. For all the years I had spent with her, I never thought she could make me moan. Let alone groan the way I did last night. Or maybe that was because we had sex not because we wanted babies but because we wanted each other.I looked at her again, my smile widening even further. For so long, I’ve never felt so free. Having to finally admit my feelings and prove them brought along a joy and peace I couldn’t explain. I didn’t know how far this was going to go

EricThe sound of the clock ticking could be heard as I sat waiting for Aunt Bailey, who was on her way, boiling within. I couldn’t take my eyes off the picture. I had told the stupid Cassie to send it to me because I couldn’t get it off my head. I had told Esmeralda to stop her and get her number. Thankfully, she didn’t stress me on that. I still didn’t understand how Lachlan had coped with that bitch. But well, that wasn’t my business. Finally, I heard the housekeeper greet her as she entered. I looked up and watched her walk to where I was.“Good evening, Aunt,” I greeted as she sat on the sofa. She sighed and remained quiet for a while.“Good evening, Eric. Are you okay? Why the sudden call?” She finally asked after resting a while. I sighed.“Aunt Bailey, there’s fire on the mountain.” I said, and she adjusted her sitting position, looking more worried.“What’s the matter, Eric?” She asked, and I handed her the phone.“Just take a look at that.”As soon as her eyes fell on the pi

Lachlan My mood was sour as I was still yet to get over the hurtful words, Amelia. They kept ringing through my mind as I drove to the office. I had even decided to drive, telling my chauffeur not to bother, because I thought it would help clear my mind. But alas, I was very wrong. I shook my head slightly as I walked into the office, walking past the greetings of the other staffers. Clara caught up with me grabbing my belongings, simultaneously handing me my cup of black coffee, just the way I like it. She then began telling me of the program for today till I got into my office and sat down. I sighed."Alright, Clara, can we begin with the first program for today?” I asked, handing the already empty cup to her.“Of course. I’ll send the documents now.” She replied, collecting the cup from me with a smile, before walking out of my office. I sighed again before settling in to begin the day. Sour mood or not, work had to be done.Shortly after, Clara called and informed me that Cassan

Amelia I couldn’t stop thinking about what I said. It was hurtful. He had been nothing but kind to me. I shouldn’t have said what I said. I knew he made me feel worse. But that was not me. Revenge wasn’t necessary. Still, I doubted the sudden love and care he had for me.But what if he did mean it? What if he had actually fallen in love with me? Oh damn, I was already running crazy. I didn’t know what to believe. I knew I still had feelings for him. Maybe I have also denied that, but the truth remained the truth. And it wouldn't change whether I accepted it or not.If he was real this time, I would love to build a family with him. But I couldn’t be sure. I was scared and didn’t know what to believe. The ringing of my phone interrupted my thoughts. I looked at the caller ID and smiled when I saw it was Bailey. I picked up my phone and took the call.“Hi Bailey,” I said cheerfully. She had a thing with timing.“Hey Amy, how are you doing today?” She asked so cheerfully. I sighed."Wel

Amelia I heard the greeting of the staffers, and I knew he had come in. I looked at the wall clock. It was five minutes past nine. I sighed, feeling a bit jittery. My palms were sweating. I needed to talk with him. I waited for him to come around, knock on my door, and tell me he had returned. My heart raced as I heard his footsteps draw closer. But he didn’t stop at my door, as I had thought. As I sat in my bed waiting for him, the sounds of his footsteps slowly died down. He must have stopped in his own room. I hoped he would probably change and come around to check on me. As usual. But an hour passed, and still, I sat waiting, using my phone to while away some time. I checked the clock that hung on the wall some inches above my bed again. If I remained here, we wouldn’t have this conversation. Why didn’t he come to check on me? Or was I right? Had he finally realised that his schemes couldn’t work on me?I was gradually believing the lie I had created when I stopped to rethink. An

Lachlan I looked around. It didn’t seem aesthetic to me, as her reactions had given. Maybe because it was my room. I had been thinking of renovating the room to give it a much better taste. I was already getting bored with this. But of course, it was her first time here. I wasn’t shocked at her awe. But somehow it sent a jab to my heart, knowing it was all my fault. Still, better late than never.“Welcome to my room.” I replied, and she smiled. Heavens, she was beautiful. And her smell—oh mine—always had this effect on me. I just couldn’t explain it. But it was divine. It made me want to hug her and kiss her and keep her perpetually in my arms. Oh heavens, concentrate, Lach.I wondered what would have driven her though. What was so bothersome that made her leave her room to come to mine? I knew the amount of guts it must have taken her to do this. I had instilled so much fear in her regarding entering my room. I knew how much it must have taken her to walk on those fears and come her

Christopher.I immediately turned and was meant with nothing but barrels of oil on the floor. There was no sign of Lachlan. I sighed, slapping my forehead again before stepping into my car and driving off.Nina’s POVThe headline popped up on my phone while I was sipping my morning latte, and I nearly choked. Normally I ignore stuff like this and focus more on the fashion news, but this story was too hot not to catch my attention. “BREAKING NEWS: Attempted Home Invasion at Mallory Mansion!" My eyes widened as I scrolled through the article. Apparently, some idiots tried to break into Lachlan’s house last night. They were dead now, of course, because nothing ever happens to Golden Boy Lachlan without some cosmic justice raining down in his favor. Still, it was juicy. Men storming his house, Amelia being in the house, and now they’re six feet under? This was practically ripped from a soap opera. I could already hear my mother’s voice in my head: “Nina, stop meddling in your brothers’

LACHLANThe fluorescent lights of the police station buzzed faintly as I walked through the doors, my mind heavily held down by a mixture of dread and determination. Matthew trailed just behind me, his expression stoic but his eyes alert. The station gave a stench of stale coffee mixed with frustration, a combination I’d grown accustomed to during these past few chaotic days. The detective in charge of the case called in earlier today that there have been some findings about the whereabouts of the assailants. It was good news, yes, but there was more, and they couldn’t tell me over the phone, so I had to come down here myself. Detective Harper greeted me with a curt nod. “Mr. Mallory, thank you for coming in. Let’s talk in my office.”I followed her into a small, cluttered room. Matthew remained close. If anyone could recognise Amelia’s attackers, it was him. Which was why I had brought him along with me again. Harper motioned for us to sit, her lips pressed into a grim line.“We fou

CHRISI stumbled into my apartment, half-drunk, exhausted, and honestly just wanting to sleep off the buzz from the club. It was nearly 3 a.m., and I’d lost track of how many rounds I’d downed with all those hot women. All I could think about was peeling off these clothes, getting under a scalding shower, and letting the water wash off the night. As I turned on the shower, the bathroom mirror fogged up, and I closed my eyes, letting the water pour over my blonde hair. But as soon as I stepped out and grabbed a towel, my phone vibrated on the counter, lighting up the dim room. Cassandra.I groaned, but something in the back of my mind told me to pick up. She wouldn’t call at this hour without a reason. So I dried off quickly, yanked on some pants, and slid the green icon.“Cassandra, I was wondering when I’d hear from you again.”I heard her take in a shaky breath. “Chris… I need your help.”I frowned, and my voice softened with a hint of sympathy. “Rough day, I take it?”“You could sa

AMELIA I woke up slowly, my mind drifting through a thick haze, like I was trying to wade through fog. For a moment, everything was blurry, and a tightness settled in my chest. Where was I? Was I still at the hospital? Then I felt the warmth of a hand over mine, firm but gentle, and everything came rushing back. Blinking, I looked up to see Lachlan sitting beside me, his face tense but softening as he noticed I was awake. The sight of him washed away the last traces of fear, and I let out a breath I hadn’t realised I was holding.“Lachlan…” My voice was barely a whisper, but his expression shifted, relief flooding his eyes.“I’m right here, love,” he said, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze.I wanted to tell him everything I was feeling—how scared I’d been, how grateful I was that he was here now—but the words felt tangled in my throat. Before I could even try, the door opened, and a middle-aged man in a white coat stepped in. He had a kind face, with just a hint of greying at the

CASSANDRAHow could they fail? I clenched my fists, nails digging into my palms as I paced the length of my bedroom, the sour taste of anger mixing with fear. They were supposed to be professionals, discreet. They were supposed to handle everything without it coming back to me. But those idiots let Amelia slip through their fingers. I should have known his chauffeur wasn't normal. Lachlan was onto us now. He was too smart; I’d known this. It was part of why I’d fallen for him in the first place.Well too late for regrets; thanks to their incompetence, I was backed into a corner, and the thought made my skin crawl. The image of him still being by that bitch’s side burnt in my mind, fuelling my jealousy. Why her? Why did he look at her the way he used to look at me? I could have given him so much more if he’d just let me back in.My phone buzzed, and I saw Eric’s name light up the screen. My pulse quickened, a mix of hope and apprehension, but before I could even speak, his voice thund

LACHLANI should have been there. The thought ran circles in my mind, looping through every possible scenario in which I had somehow kept her safe. I was supposed to protect Amelia. But I had left her alone, vulnerable, and now she was in the hospital, recovering from an attack that could’ve cost her life. Worse, our child’s life. I clenched my fists so tight that my knuckles cracked, trying to keep my anger in check. It was mostly anger at myself—a gnawing, bitter frustration that I hadn’t been there when she’d needed me.Matthew sat beside me at the police station, scrolling through images on the detective’s tablet, helping to sort through potential suspects. He was silent but tense, his face a mirror of my own worry. I could see in his eyes that he was as furious as I was about what had happened. If he’d been there earlier, maybe he would have stopped those men. But he wasn’t to blame, and deep down, I knew that. The responsibility fell on me alone.“You don’t have to stay, Matthew

The house felt unusually still as I put away the last of the dishes. Lachlan had left just after dinner, saying he’d be home soon. He was working late again and had just come home during lunch break to spend time with me before he took off again. Lately, “soon” had been stretching longer and longer, but tonight, with the baby restless, I missed his presence more than usual. I sighed, patting my belly gently. “He’ll be home any minute now, my miracle, don't you worry,” I whispered, hoping it would somehow make the time pass faster. Lillian wasn't in the house today. She had gone to her home for her usual medical checkup, so she was sending her daughter to her place. Her name is Rebecca, and she and I have spoken a few times on the phone. She is a really lovely person. So yes, I was all alone in this empty house with nothing else to do but sleep. Which was exactly what I did. Cooking dinner did a number on me. My whole back was aching. Maybe I could ask Lachlan to give me one of thos

  • The Billionaire’s Regret: Chasing His Ex wife    Chapter 119

LACHLANThis whole week has been nothing but great. I had just closed a million-dollar deal with a company I've been chasing throughout the year. I had my beautiful wife waiting for me at home, and our son or daughter was going to be born soon. Amelia didn't want to find out the gender before the baby was born. She said it would ruin the thrill of having our first child. She wanted it to be a surprise for both of us. I, on the other hand, so badly wanted a daughter. Someone I could pamper, learn how to braid for, buy dresses for because she was my pretty princess, and chase away boys who wanted to come close to her. I didn't realise I was smiling widely until my cheeks started to hurt. I quickly stopped my daydreaming and continued to sign the projects we were supposed to commence with. I was planning on building a few gas stations in Dubai. My friend Abdul Rashad, who lives there, told me it would be a very good investment. Expanding my business was my goal. The whole world would kn

AMELIA I woke up that morning and Lachlan was already out of bed. My hands touched the side of his bed and was met with cold and empty space. Except for a single white rose. A smile spread across my face as I picked up the stalk. I brought the flower to my nose and took a deep inhale into my lungs. It's been 3 weeks since Lachlan and I made up, and ever since that day, he always left a single white rose on the bed next to me every morning. I asked him why he chose a white rose, and he replied with the statement, “It represents your purity. You're the light to my darkness. That's why I chose this particular flower.” I had gotten so emotional I was already a crying mess before he finished his statement. He had called me a crybaby, and I cursed him out, and then we made love over and over again. The new Lachlan was my favourite Lachlan. We had so much fun together and every waking day was so full of love and happiness. Life was getting better. An additional reason why I said so was
