"Ma'am, how do you feel now? Do you feel any better?" Rose asked Sonia immediately she noticed that she finally opened her eyes and she responded with a weak nod."You've been unconscious for a few days, since your surgery." Rose explained.Sonia tried to sit up but squinted her eyes as she felt a wince of pain from the site of her surgery. Immediately, Rose ran to her side to stop her."I don't think you can do that yet, sitting up is definitely a very bad idea." Rose said, and helped Sonia to lay back on the bed. "The doctor also says you should not stress yourself yet.""What about Miss Daisy?" Sonia asked weakly."She should be at home, I guess. I'm not really sure." Rose responded, truly unsure of Daisy's whereabouts."What do you mean by that? Why are you not sure?" Sonia asked, concerned."Well, I've been here at the hospital for a few days now, that's why I didn't know.""So you mean you've not gone home in days?" Sonia asked with her eyes wide open in surprise."Yes, ma'am."
"Damn! I've been found out! My cover is blown!" Sonia thought to herself."Where are you going?" The voice asked her but she didn't answer."Can you not hear me? I just asked you a simple question! Why are you acting mute? I'm very sure you can hear me." He said to her but her back was still turned to him and she refused to speak a word."Kindly turn your face towards me, right now before I call the security." He said, to the shock of Sonia."Security? What have I done wrong? Why would he call the security? I can't let this happen, the best thing is to just face him right now." Sonia thought to herself, feeling helpless.Soon, she slowly began to turn to face the pers who had been talking to her but immediately she faced him, his eyes widened and he yelled."Oh no! Oh my God! I'm so sorry." He immediately began to apologize as soon as he saw Sonia's face."I'm such a fool. I apologize for my lack of appropriate investigation before yelling at you like you were a criminal. I'm so sorry
“Wow! Thank goodness! Where did you find her?” He asked as he turned towards them.“She was hiding in one of the empty rooms, sir. She didn't know we were going to come into that particular room and so we found her there.” One of the two men replied.“That's great news. Welldone to both of you.” He commended them. “Where is she now?” He asked.“She's at the security quarters, sir.” The first young man answered.“Alright then.” He said calmly.“We just came to inform you and ask if she is going to be handed over to the police.” The second young man replied.“Oh no, not yet. We need to ask her a few questions first. Her responses will determine if she will be handed over to the police or not.” He said immediately.“Although, we've asked her a few questions, sir.“Oh! That's good. Were you able to get any relevant piece of information from her?”“Yes sir. She explained amidst sobs that she had to resort to stealing the drugs because of her ailing mother.”“She said her mother had been si
"Who is there?" I asked weakly as I opened my eyes.I began to scan the room, looking around like I was lost, confused as to where I was at the moment "It is Kelvin, ma'am." He responded from outside the living room and at that moment, it was as if my brain had stopped working."What is going on?" I asked myself, without a certain or meaningful answer. I was just happily married to Sorin some moments ago, what was I doing in this dark room, was one of the many questions I was trying to ask myself. The fact that I let all the curtains down and turned off the lights weren't helping at all because it just helped to cloud my already hazy memory the more.I thought for a moment and soon I realized what was going on, it was also as if my memory had just returned to me after a long break."Ma'am, are you alright?" Kelvin asked, trying his luck since I remained quiet after he said he was the one at the door. This time, I recognised his voice instantly. It just dawned on me that I had been s
"Didn't you hear what I just said?" Sorin asked Kelvin when he noticed he didn't move after he had just ordered him to call the family Doctor.Well, one wouldn't blame Kelvin because I was also shocked at Sorin's action or should I call it Sorin's "sudden care", which made me wonder why he was always unstable with his emotions; one moment he is acting like he cares about me and the next minute, he is just like a wild animal seeking to devour me and won't hesitate to show his lack of interest in me."What exactly does he think of me? Why is his character always transforming and changing like a chameleon?" I thought to myself as I stared blankly at him."Is anyone going to answer me and do as I have said?" Sorin yelled again, his voice thundering and echoing through the room, making me shriek in fear Immediately, Kelvin stood up and speed dialled the family doctor's number, which was picked almost immediately."Hello, sir." The doctor said from the other end."Your attention is needed
Sorin immediately turned to look at me. He had a shocked expression all over his face. Even Kelvin was dumbfounded, not to talk of the Doctor and the maids who were present."How could you say such thing?" Sorin asked as he tried to hide his shaking hands in his pockets, but not before I saw it.I didn't answer him, until the doctor spoke again after putting himself together."Why did you say that, madam?" He asked, moving closer to me. "Why would you want to die when you already have what other people might want to kill for?" He asked."Well, I'm not others." I answered sharply, like one who was fed up, because, of a truth, I was completely fed up."As a matter of fact, they can kill me for all of this." I added as I gestured with my hands. "That would be better, at least I'll rest in peace, away from all this." I began to sob.He paused for a while like he was in deep thoughts. He then sighed before he started speaking again."Can you excuse us?" He asked, facing the maids. They im
Kelvin led Sorin, who was still visibly shaken by all that just happened in the room, out of the room and into his study. He immediately shut the door, locked it with the key and helped Sorin sit down in his seat.Sorin was in a vulnerable state and no one was allowed to see him that way. Never! Kelvin would never allow that. He had seen Sorin that way before but it was a long time ago when the unfortunate incident involving his sister happened and at that time it was really traumatic. It almost took the whole world to get him back to normalcy- it was really terrible back then but now it seemed like it was happening all over again. He turned to look at Sorin who was just staring at nothing in particular. It was obvious that he was far away. He had always been known to be strong and fierce but this side of him was hidden from everyone except his parents and Kelvin, who was his best friend, personal assistant and personal guard too, which explains why he knew what most people never knew
“What is happening all over again, Kelvin? Can you go straight to the point now, why are you beating around the bush for crying out loud!” Mr Zaveri yelled.“What is going on? What is happening all over again?” An impatient Mrs Zaveri asked, making Kelvin pause once again.“Wait, I hope it isn't what I'm thinking about?” Mrs Zaveri suddenly blurted out.“Hold on for a moment, honey.” Her husband said. “Let me confirm what he means first.”“Kelvin?” He called out to a silent Kelvin. “Are you still there?” He asked.“Yes sir.” Kelvin responded.“Tell me, what is going on with my son? Is it what we think it is?” He asked.“I'm afraid, it is, sir.” Kelvin responded with a completely calm tone.“Oh my God!” Mrs Zaveri yelled, indicating that she heard what he said loud and clear. “But why?” She asked as she began to sob quietly.“Are you at home?” Mr Zaveri asked, trying to act strong.“Yes sir.” Kelvin answered.“Okay, we'll be there in a jiffy.” He said, and before Kelvin could say anyth
