Hailey turned the doorknob and pulled it backward. And she almost jumped when, instead of Rob, Rob's mother appeared in front of her.

"Are you going to take the whole day getting ready?" The woman pushed past Hailey and walked into the room. "If it was my choice, I wouldn't have asked you to accompany me. But you're more suitable for that job. Instead of needing a cart, you will carry everything I'll need."

As she spoke, her eyes surveyed the room and she touched everything that came into her view.

She touched the lamp on the bedside table. She touched the frames on the wall. She even went to the vanity mirror and touched Hailey's make-up things.

"Why is it that this room is bigger than the one we live in?" She looked at the ceiling and shook her head. "Your bed is also too big. Do you share this bed with my son? You don't make him sleep on the floor I guess. You should sleep on the floor sometimes, you know?"
