Hailey didn't know what he was thinking, however, his expression changed at the knowledge that Sharon was upstairs. She could even see a slight anger flash past his eyes.

The maid bowed and left. Kendrick didn't start eating until a few seconds later. He seemed to be spacing out. Or maybe even thinking why Sharon didn't come down.

Hailey rolled her eyes and made loud noises with her spoon. That did the trick to drag his attention.

He gave her a fleeting glance before lowering his head to eat. But his attention wasn't on her. He didn't even make any comment when she picked at her food. He was probably thinking about Sharon. And Hailey found herself glancing at him more than focusing on her food. He was too silent. She didn't like it. The only time he looked at her was when she accidentally choked on her food and he poured her a glass of water.

"Be careful, Hailey," He said in a soft tone. His eyes shone with worry and he gave her a slight pat on the head before he continued eating.
