Kendrick squinted his eyes but he didn't look angry. In fact, he looked– tired.

Hailey had to give him another look to make sure she hadn't seen wrong. There was an emptiness in his eyes, they almost looked lifeless.

"Is there any progress?" Kendrick asked, making her break her gaze quickly.

Progress? Hailey pursed her lips. How would she know if there was progress? The therapist had said everything was up to her, but she herself didn't know if it could be of any help. And the instructions she gave, she wasn't even sure if it would work.
