Barely a few hours had passed ever since Jaxson had left me inside his office, and I was struggling to stay tranquil.
Jaxson had told me that I couldn't attend the company meeting with him because it was solely exclusive to the company's shareholders. And since I'm not an official Madrigal yet, he asked me to stay here in his office until he is through.I even made complaints to Jaxson and persuaded him to bring me inside. But he grew irritated and made a point of saying that he already warned me I have nothing else to do here and that I can just stay at home, but still, I insisted on coming with him anyway.I'm helpless to change his mind and find another reason to let Jaxson take me with him inside because everything he said was true. He even threatened to have Gunther take me home to their mansion if I pushed him far too much.So I can't do anything but to agree and wait for him. At least, I'll be here later to keep an eye on Lance and Daniella in case they do something to Jaxson. It's just off-putting that the reason I came here with Jaxson is to always be with him and keep him away from Lance and Daniella. Yet, he has just locked me up, and I'm back alone, completely powerless to help him.I just used my feet to spin Jaxson’s chair around and somehow soothe myself from being bored inside this quiet room.My attention was drawn away from Jaxson's chair when Gunther entered the office suddenly. I trailed his hand and looked down at the food he had brought when I noticed he was carrying something.“Woah, that was a lot. Am I going to eat with you and someone else?” I asked him as he went straight in and laid the stuff on the table.“Mr. Madrigal requested that I bring you a heavy meal. He'll have to stay in the meeting for another hour before heading here. And also, Geo, Mr. Madrigal’s secretary got a call that the wedding coordinator would be here in a few hours,” Gunther claimed nonchalantly as he unpacked the food from the bag that he was carrying.“He will be there for another hour?” I brought up the question. I'm not positive what Lance and Daniella are doing to frustrate and distract Jaxson right now. “Can't I really go in there? I'm worried over something. Could you help me?”It took a long time for me to wait for Gunther's response while looking intently at him with my doe eyes. What if Jaxson's focus had been drawn away from them, and he was no longer in the right state of mind to prove his prestige? With Lance's schemes so hostile, they could easily disgrace Jaxson and destroy him.I don't want to think that Jaxson is too feeble to rely on me and defend him, but I do want to make sure that their encounter goes off without a hitch. I don't want Jaxson to look much more miserable in front of other people, particularly at a time when the people who made him that way are now reaping the benefits of their actions. He's had enough.“If you don't want to cause any trouble for him, Ms. Cattleya, you might as well just eat here and obey merely what Mr. Madrigal commanded,” Gunther replied sternly without taking his focus away from my eyes.“Gunther, could you please?” I pleaded. “Can't you really help me in any way? This isn't for me, it's for Jaxson. Besides, isn't he also a friend of yours? Do you want something awful to happen to your friend?”With a scowl, he asked, “What are you trying to say?”“It's just that—” I hesitated, sighing deeply. “Just help me. Okay? I swear I'll repay your kindness when you need it.”Because of his intense stare at my face, I get the impression that Gunther was scrutinizing me with his eyes.“Alright, since it appears that I have no choice but to obey you, just eat it all first, like Mr. Madrigal said. Then I'll take you to him,” he said earnestly, which made me smile broadly before quickly moving my hands to assist him in getting the food out.“This is too much,” I murmured once again after removing the last meal from the plastic bag.I didn't waste any time and started shoveling the food into my mouth right away.“—Sit down and eat,” I told Gunther, gesturing to the chair with my arm in front of me.I was perplexed by Gunther's stares before he stepped away from me and toward a large glass window.I was almost overwhelmed when I first entered here and peered down from the glass window. As I remember, we were on the 18th floor now so if I actually fell there, my bones would surely break into pieces. I am horrified, thinking that my body will be shattered on the ground.“Gunther? What are you waiting for? I told you to eat too.” I said before moving the box lunches and fruits near the seat in front of me.“Those are not for me, Ms. Cattleya. All of that is for you.”My eyes almost flew out of the building because of what I heard. “What did you say?!” I gasped, caught off guard. “Are you going to feed me to death? I'm not going to be executed any time soon, am I? Why is there so much food on the table, as if this is my last meal?” I let out a series of questions.“Mr. Madrigal asked me to bring you a lot,” he calmly answered, seemingly unfazed by my screams.“I know. But, I am pretty sure that Jaxson doesn’t mean to bring me this much. Like this is a lot, lot! I mean, it's like you're going to feed everyone here on the 18th floor at the fiesta! ”“You are exaggerating.” As soon as I heard his response, my brows knitted. “These are all for you. I won’t help you get into the meeting if you don’t finish all of this. Besides, you only have an hour and you have 2 meals more to eat, fruits for deserts, and salads. You have to eat healthy other than drinking water.”My mouth dropped open as I couldn't believe what he was saying.“— That’s… what Mr. Madrigal told me.” He continued.Gunther’s comprehension is out of this world. Jaxson may have actually told him to bring me a lot of food, but I'm sure he didn't mean it. I could eat everything in a week and never go hungry. We won't be able to finish it even if I let mom and Charles join me at this table.I knew I ate a lot, but this was ridiculous!“I'm just upset that you bought these for me. If these were fried chicken, I'd devour them in no time and without any complaints. But these are what you chose to bring me, it's for vegetarians. I'm not knocking the food, but these leaves aren't as tasty.” I continued grumbling. “Do I look like a goat to you?”“Ms. Cattleya, those are called salad greens, and that help-”“The only salad I know is a fruit salad that only comes out around Christmas.” I cut him off. “Look, I don't want to act like a baby but try to taste these plants. It has no taste at all. Like, I am serious. I'll never get acclimated to rich people's cuisine.” I continued to whimper as I cram the leaves into my mouth fiercely, even though I was beginning to resemble a goat. “Me-eh-eh-eh-” I mocked Gunther. When I heard his suppressed laugh, I immediately glared at him, before resuming to shove the leaves into my mouth with a grimace on my face.__________________________“How much time do I have left?” I asked with an anxious tone. Because I feel like eating those leaves took me too much time.“They still have 30 more minutes inside, you should calm down if you don’t want to have indigestion. Leaves are hard to-”“Gunther, can you just give it a rest and stop babbling? Besides Isn't this what you want?” I cut him off, agitated, in the middle of chomping. I could hardly even enjoy the food in my mouth because of the time crunch. It doesn’t have any flavor, anyway. “Okay, I’m done.” I strained to speak as I forced the leaves down to my throat while ascending from my seat as if I had been set free from being a goat.“Ms. Cattleya, slow down a bit and digest it for five minutes before we go to the meeting.” Gunther went on to say tactfully as he handed me the water.I only gave him a sidelong glance before accepting the water and chugging it to force everything I had eaten down my stomach. My eyes were tightly clenched as a lump formed and it hardly drew in my throat.I rubbed my palm around my stomach, mumbling, “I feel like my body is going to explode with fullness…”Without waiting for Gunther, I stroll to the office door after a few moments of rest. I don’t care if it’s been less than five minutes for me to put down everything I ate. Every second counts, especially now that I'm aware of Jaxson's stepbrother's motives.“Ms. Cattleya, I had told you to slow down-”As I carried on to the room where I had seen Jaxson enter earlier, he was unable to finish what he was about to say.My gaze was drawn to the plaque on the door. “Headquarters…” I murmured, reading the letters engraved on it.My hand crept back into my stomach because I felt like everything I'd eaten was coming out of my mouth and rising from my throat.I gave Gunther's stand a fleeting glance before knocking on the door and without a doubt, opened it.I was greeted by the stare of the people in the room. They seemed stunned when I walked in when they were in the middle of a meeting since their faces were flushed with astonishment.“Hi?” I smiled and raised my hand to offer them a tiny wave before searching for Jaxson.“U-Uh… Miss?”My gaze wandered to a man who appeared to be Jaxson's father's age. One of his brows was slightly lifted as his forehead creased.“This is not the place to conduct employment screening interviews,” he added, which made me frown.“Uh, I'm not looking for a job, sir, I'm sorry. I'm actually here to-”"Oh, please don't deny it.” he slashes me off. “So many job seekers here have done that to make an impression.”“Mr. Fridman,” Jaxson’s authoritative tone resounded in the room, making all of us divert our attention. “You're talking to my fiance,” he stated bluntly.I'm not sure how I'll react to all of the attention I'm getting right now. I'm more concerned about the foods I ate earlier, which I believe are ready to leave my mouth in no time.I feel nausea and I want to throw up.“Your fiance? But isn’t she…” I caught a glimpse of the man slowly shifting his eyes to Daniella before returning to me.As Jaxson approached my stance, I also felt like the leaves from my stomach was rising at the same moment.“Yes. This woman that you called a job seeker, Mr. Fridman happens to be my fiance.” Jaxson reached me as he started to run his hands onto my waist. “So, I don’t want any of you to disrespect her ever again. Especially now that we are expecting a new-”My hand flew to my mouth and clasped it while trying to hold down my chest, grabbing everyone’s attention away from Jaxson.“What's the matter?”He whispered to me in hushed tones.“Bleurgh-” My cheeks bulged as my chest heaved forward a little.I quickly turned away from them and exited the room when I felt my vomit really gushing out.I turned on the water faucet and let it run while soaking my hand in water and using it to cleanse my mouth.“Blech!” I blurted faintly as I wiped the saliva and nasty splashes of vomit from my chin. I feel like I'm going to pass out from exhaustion when I feel I've already purged the meals that have been trapped in my throat.“I hate you, Gunther.” I murmured with a trace of annoyance in my voice. As the cramp from throwing up began to sting, my hand gradually crawled back on my stomach and gently rubbed it.Overeating must have given me indigestion. I kept swallowing the leaves and stuffing them into my stomach without chewing them so I could finish it quickly. And this is what I ended up with. I continued to rub my tummy while holding my gaze fixed on my reflection in the mirror. My attention silently wandered to the two women as they entered the restroom.“Really? I regret not attending their meeting earlier. Are you sure of that though?”“Of course, I am!” The other woman exclai
“How can I get pregnant?” Jaxson choked in shock and coughed incessantly after hearing what I said.“I mean, how did they get to the conclusion that I was pregnant?” I tried to clarify myself as it seems that he didn't appear to expect that question. “I don't think my stomach is huge enough to fool you into thinking I'm pregnant, is it?”It just seemed like what had happened previously flashed back to me, and everything that is happening now gradually made sense to me. “Wait…” I grumbled.“What is it?” Jaxson asked aloud as he instantly jolted from his seat. “What? Did you remember something? Are you really pregnant-”“No!” I snapped, interrupting him. “I'm not pregnant, Jaxson. Okay? How can I be pregnant with just a-” I came to a halt, unsure what to say because I don't want to remind him of our kiss.“Then what are you trying to get out of your mind?” He replied, with a frown on his face as his chest moved upwards waiting for my response.“Did they speculate that I'm pregnant afte
As I fiddled with my feet, I nibbled my lips. All I could do was stare at Jaxson and his workspace from every angle.I just sat silently in front of him, while he focused his attention on his laptop and papers that I had observed were being signed by him after he read them.I let out a long sigh before leaning slightly on the plush sofa and laying myself down. I'm not sure how many more hours I'll have to wait before the wedding planner arrives, so I'm becoming bored. I'm stuck at Jaxson's office with nothing to do.I took up a newspaper from the small table in front of me and opened it, hoping to find a way to pass the time. This is better for me though, I reckon, than to be with Jaxson's mother again. If the only people I could spend time with inside their mansion were Aunt Elsie and Lovely, it would be even easier for me because they appear to be interesting and good people.I'd also like to get to know Gunther better because he's always around me, but it doesn't seem like it will
“Mr. Chairman, the wedding coordinator, and the bridal consultant have arrived. Is it the right time for me to let them in?”After the phone that was placed on the left side front of him rang, I was interrupted from making fun of Jaxson. He turned up the volume of the telephone so that maybe I could hear what the man on the other line was saying too.“Yes, you can let them in.” Jaxson replied sparingly to the man, while his gaze remained fixed on mine.I wanted to chuckle when he choked earlier because of the unexpected words that came out of my mouth. That was also not something I expected. But I believe Jaxson is indirectly asking me out on a date. What else was it called if it was just the two of us and we were going out to eat? Am I right? Or am I losing my mind?“Stop giving me those grins, Cattleya.”My grin widened even more as I heard him speak again. It's because his face can't be painted right now due to the weird expression showing on his face.“But at least now I'm not just
After the exhausting planning for our wedding, I find myself alone inside Jaxson's office then again.I'm not sure whether my responses to the wedding coordinator are completely right because I'm not familiar with any of them. I just chose whatever sounds familiar to me. Then I pondered why there were far too tiny food portions and asked if there was a whole meal that could fill the entire plate because the servings that they would give to the guest appeared to be for a taste test only. They were taken aback by what I said and looked at me as if they couldn't believe it, but they pledged to show me other options tomorrow. The wedding design I chose was simply based on what I personally preferred. I'm just not sure if Jaxson will like it as much as I do. But, as he had said, it is up to me to make the decision, so perhaps he will not be upset with those I choose. I can't wait to see how he reacts on the wedding day. The only thing that mattered to him was that we could get through the w
“What the hell...?” I grumbled beneath my breath. What kind of debauchery are they committing? I'm sure that they know exactly where they should be doing this. At this point, Jaxson should have realized that these two were doing this on purpose to sabotage his strategy. Perhaps if Jaxson chose to get drunk today, I would no longer look after him and instead get really frustrated with him.Even though I know he's hurt, he'll make a fool of himself if he gets hurt by what they're doing. Obviously they are just doing that for the show. As the two give each other greater pleasure, I shut my eyes in disgust.I gently pulled Jaxson's arm, hoping to get his attention in some way. After all, this is why I came to his workplace. I had no idea what was going on around me or what Jaxson's reaction was because I kept my eyes shut. When I felt my hand stretch as Jaxson continued to walk, my eyes widened. I attempted to look for Jaxson's eyes to look at it, but I couldn't see his face. When we
I wasn't expecting Jaxson to be popular not only at his company but also everywhere. And I have officially confirmed it after being met with glances as soon as we walk inside the mall. There were also security guards who approached us and offered Jaxson if he wanted security for safe shopping and lodging in their mall. However, he declined it, as I predicted. I am starting to feel conscious of how people gape at us whenever we pass by them. I'm not sure if it was because they know Jaxson and he is famous, or it’s his appearance and how he shines out in a crowd that they are acting this way. Honestly, I can't even deny that this man is quite attractive. “Wait,” I murmured meekly to the man beside me, who was still grasping my hand and the laptop he had gotten for me in the other. “Am I the only person in this country who doesn't know who you are? How come people know you everywhere? You're not a celebrity, slash a model, slash a chairperson… Are you?” I heard Jaxson's feeble scoff,
“Go grab yours,” I urged quietly to Jaxson as I lifted a tray full of food. But he just stared at me, puzzled, as if he didn't get what I was saying. “Why are you the one carrying that, Cattleya?” He asked. “Of course, Jax, no one else is going to do it for us. Now, hurry up and carry that so we can find a seat and make the customers next to us get their food too.” “Are you serious...?” He mumbled as his eyes shifted behind us, seeing the line stretched clear around the corner, so he had no choice but to slowly approach the tray of food and gently carry it as I said. “Can’t I just call some staff and ask for assistance?” I started laughing quietly because of how Jaxson ended up looking now. I tried my hardest earlier to contain my laughter so he wouldn't be embarrassed, but I couldn't help myself and burst out laughing at the way he carried the tray with a puzzled expression on his face. I caught a quick look at people secretly snapping photos of him and also trying to hide their
"You might think that I'm a creep, but I love how you look like whenever I kiss you." Liam stated straight.I felt my cheeks burning like hell because of what he said. My blood rose to my cheek and I felt it was on fire."You look like a baby, every time.""Oh, shut up." I tried to avert my gaze from him.He extended his hands at me and just simply grabbed my hand. I'm slowly getting used to always holding Liam's hand. If back then I almost died from being so nervous, now it's just a little bit.But I feel like I'm walking on clouds because of the lightness of my feet and the feeling that you're floating.I looked around. There are still many people here even after the sun has set, most of the people wandering around are tourists like us.I lift my eyes and I can't believe what I see. What I used to see in shows is now in front of my eyes.I stopped walking for a while to take a closer look at Namsan Tower. No wonder why so many people want to visit it, because it is really beautiful
“How can you be so sure? What if they won’t give you a call? What if… Uh… There would be an emergency and they can’t contact you?” I insisted on the question once again. Jaxson can’t stay here all day, because if that happens, then I have to stay all day in this bed too. He will eventually find out that I can’t walk. “— Also, you won’t stay here with me all day even if you don’t go to your office. I have a call from Miranda agency that we have costume fitting today.” It’s not entirely a lie because the agency called me early in the morning that I have to be there with Daniella.I am planning to go regardless of what she can do to me. And what I am thinking of, is to sneak out this house with the help of Richard. Besides, he won’t suspect that Daniella did it to me because it seems to be an accident when I fall off my shoes. It’s only me and her who knows exactly who did it to injure me. I can’t help but to worry about Lance’s and Daniella’s plan for Jaxson and I. They are harming
I struggled to get my body moving and hit the button on the bedside table."Good evening, Aunt Elsie? Are you there?" I politely called the other line and then waited for him to respond. It's excellent that Jaxson has been using advanced technology throughout this bedroom. Since it is so distant from our room, I wouldn't have been able to call Aunt Elsie if I wasn't strong enough to go down to the kitchen."Hello, Mrs. Madrigal. My mother isn't here, do you need anything?""Angel?" I asked with my brows colliding. "Why isn't Aunt Elsie there? Did she go somewhere?" I became worried because this is the first time that she is not the one who answered my call."Well, technically she's not here. But she's also not outside the house. I think she's taking care of Mr. Madrigal that just came home, ma'am. Would you like me to call her?" He calmly answered with his soft and airy voice."No, no, it's okay..."If you need anything Mrs. Madrigal, I can bring it to you right away."I nodded quietl
"You're giving me tickles, stop." he chuckles as he continuously leaned away from me.I giggled as I continued to tease him. "You're such a ticklish baby.""I am not." he tried to straighten his face and stop laughing but he couldn't stop it.When I got tired, I leaned on his chest again and then fiddled with the button of his polo shirt."When are we going back to New Jersey?" I asked. It's like... I don't want to go back and face his life. I just want to stay here next to Liam and hug him all night, make him laugh, and talk to him."We're not going back unless you ask me to." he uttered.I moved a little away from his chest to look him in the eyes. "Really?"His hand came up to the top of my head and ruffled my hair. "Really."I took a breath. "If it's possible, I'll claim you and never give you back."He laughed softly and then turned his attention back to the laptop in front of him when he received an email.I brought my lips to his ear again, but this time, to whisper."Liam is g
[THIRD PERSON POV]Maddison and Blade are now inside the car who have been restless with their hands on the steering wheel and gulps one after the other.Even though Maddison couldn't understand why she was letting someone she didn't know very well take her somewhere, her body seemed to be telling her that it was okay to go with the man next to her now.As well as the strange feeling he feels in his heart, which he never once felt with Liam.Even though Maddison and Liam have been in a relationship, it cannot be denied not to see the chemistry between the two of them.Maybe because from the beginning Maddison was forced by her father to know and love Liam. When Maddison and Liam are together, her father treats her well and smiles tenderly. But every time Maddison doesn't know the location, or if Liam does me, his father hurts him.At first he didn't understand his father's repeated beatings, but he still did what he wanted. Even though he doesn't like Liam, he insists on being friends
"I missed the breeze here..." Maddison muttered as Blade pushed his wheel chair towards the shore of the sea. "I avoid even thinking about this place because of painful memories." he smiled bitterly. When they got there, Blade stopped pushing and then he sat next to its wheel."Me, I'm always here to calm my mind. It's often on top of the rocks so I can see the entirety of the surroundings. I still remember that we always hang out there." he smiled as he reminisced their past.Maddison also seemed to smile as she looked up at the place where Blade was looking."I know... you told me before, I'm the only woman you'll bring there. Did you keep that promise?”Maddison turned to Blade who looked away and then pretended to be playing with the sand.Maddison let out a small laugh. "Don't tell me...""I brought Crystal there once." Blade uttered but he still couldn't look straight.Maddison only laughed harder that made Blade turn to him. "What's so funny? Aren't you angry?”His eyes rounded
I could hardly believe the words coming out of his mouth. How is it that the Vince that I just recently met who works for Steven's company, is the one they say is the youngest heir of the Celestials who was our batch when we were still studying at Harrison High?"B-But wait... If you're the Celestial I'm thinking of, does that mean you also went to university at the same time Steven and I?" I asked in surprise. As far as I remember, there was always talk about who the heir was. The only heir I knew at our school was Steven.“Yes, I attended Harrison High with you. Like I said, if you only knew how to look back, you would have recognized me. You couldn't even notice me or turn a blind eye because your eyes were too direct on that man."I bowed down because of what he said. Come to think of it, I only have one friend and that's Mavi. I was careful to get to know someone else because I was afraid that Steven would get jealous. Even with Mavi, I can't always give him time because Steven d
“Babe...”A soft voice woke me up from sleeping soundly. Even if I don't open my eyes, I knew well that this is Jaxson.I giggled when I felt his soft lips on my forehead, trying to wake me up. He never missed any morning to give me a sweet kiss as a morning gift. We really are a couple and I still couldn't believe.I scrunched my nose as I felt the pain on my foot as I slowly lift my body with the help of Jaxson supporting the back of my head.“Breakfast in bed.” My eyes slowly opened up as I was shock by the food in front of me. I couldn't help but be touched at what he did.“You are so sweet...” I muttered as I returned a gentle kiss on his forehead. “This is the very first time I'll experience something like this.” I honestly let out, feeling my eyes forming into doe because of the joy that the food brought me.This just came at the exact moment. I mean, I was planning last night to skip breakfast and pretend that I am not hungry just to wait for Jaxson to leave the house so I ca

It's excellent that Jaxson has been using advanced technology throughout this bedroom. Since it is so distant from our room, I wouldn't have been able to call Aunt Elsie if I weren't strong enough to go down to the kitchen.“Good evening, Mrs. Madrigal. Are there any things you need, my mother is not around.”“Angel?” My brows furrowed as I questioned, “Why isn't Aunt Elsie there? She left— and where did she go?” As this was the first time someone other than she had taken my call, I started to get concerned. “Yes technically, she is not here. She isn't, however, in the yard either, ma’am. I believe she is taking after Mr. Madrigal who has just arrived home. Do you want me to call her for you?” In a serene tone, she responded, with her voice light and airy.“No, no, it's okay…”“If you need anything, Mrs
