SCARLETT.

It had to be a dream. Or maybe I was hearing in another language or something. I moved in my seat to fully face Finn who was staring at me.

"Are you serious?" I grabbed the scruff of his shirt. "Are you really sure you know what you're saying?"

He turned his phone towards me. I gasped and my hand clamped over my mouth as I stared at a photo of Kelvin stepping out of a building with a few suited men walk-in behind him.

"That is Moretti. He's the leader of the Mafia gang."

Tears spilled down my cheek and I rested my head on his shoulder as I burst into a fit of sobs. "So that's who he really is? He works under them? Or does he work for them? What exactly does he do? I am going to show this to my parents and to the whole world. I am going to prove my father wrong for once and he's going to see what I have been telling him the whole time!"

Finn placed his phone on the glove compartment and grabbed me by the arms. "Not yet, Scarlett."

FINN. I watched as Scarlett slept in my arms. She had fallen asleep halfway into the movie and now, the movie credits were rolling out. I gently peeled her off my body and placed her on the bed beside me before quietly climbing out of the bed and picking the packets of snacks that littered her bed. After tossing it into the bin, I walked back to her bed, tore out a sticky note laying on her bedside table. After writing on it, I placed it on the table and planted a kiss on her cheek before slipping out of the house. Throughout the drive to the hospital, all I could think of was Kelvin and how to bring him down. I didn't know how I was going to do it. As much as I wanted things to be over real soon, this was just the beginning. I had to do things myself from here and even if I needed Leonardo's help, I had to pay his men because they weren't going to do a thing without getting a reward and I totally understood that. I had sent a text to Leonardo, asking him if it was okay

FINN. It was time for me to leave. Raya was busy with Volkov as she seemed really happy seeing him. I liked that he was around though I am never going to admit it to him. "He makes her happy," My mother said from the door as she watched Volkov. She was reading a letter he had written on her and a visible smoke was on her face. "I'm glad he's here. Scarlett really left an impact," "She did. I have to agree," I said and watched them. I was happy that she was happy. We were going to talk about her amputated leg soon enough. Whenever she was ready though. "Finn," I turned to look at her. "You've not been at work for almost a week. You really need to have some rest so you can resume worn energized," I smiled and pecked her on the cheek. "I am fine, mum. Really." "You've lot a bit of weight," She said as she touched my cheek. Her scrutinizing gaze washed over my body. "You should eat enough, okay?" I laughed. "You know I always eat enough, mum. You don't have t

SCARLETT. I woke up to an empty bed and panicked. I guess I was already used to Finn being around me. I missed him. Terribly. The warmth of his body, the way he held me in his arms and never pulled away for once. I placed the side of my cheek on the bed and stared at the television before me. It had been turned into a station that played soft country music. I stayed in that position for a while and just as I stretched my body, I heard the sound of the gates opening and a car driving in. I jumped out of my bed before I even realized what I was doing. I didn't care if I was dressed in nothing but panties and a tiny top that could pass for a bikini bra. I hurried out of my room and ran down the corridor, smiling and hoping to see Finn's tall body climbing out of the car. But it wasn't my car outside. It was another car. A familiar car. One that put dread in my body. My heart sank and I retreated slowly as I watched Kelvin climb out of his car. What was he doing here?

FINN. It had been a long night. After speaking with the men, Leonardo had told me not to stress myself. The truth was going to be out real soon. I had thought about driving back to the hospital but my guts told me to drive back to Scarlett's place. Raya was fine, at least. Scarlett was asleep when I left and even if she woke up to a note, I still had to see her so we could discuss. I knew she was definitely bothered about what I told her. Now that I thought of it, I shouldn't have told her. I had made that mistake and there was no going back. So I made a U-turn, driving towards her estate. It was a long drive but in no time, I was driving through her gates. I squinted at an unfamiliar car parked in the driveway. Had someone come to visit her? Her parents? I decided to check my phone. If her parents had visited, she would have sent a text. And she did. But it wasn't her parents. Whenever you see this text, Kelvin visits. Don't come in. She sent this

SCARLETT. I don't think I have felt safer than I have been when I am in Finn's arms. I slept in his arms for over an hour and when I woke up, he wasn't there. He left a note anyway. He started leaving notes recently and I loved to read them. I usually stash them in a box for memory's sake. I knew he was going to be gone soon and I wasn't sure I could live with that. Maybe I could live with his written notes and his texts and the random unaware photos I had taken of him. It was all going to end soon now. I thought of how he had been making moves in the dark. How he had been doing research for my sake and as insane as it was, I loved it. But it was dangerous. He was literally walking into danger. I didn't want him to do that. I had an inkling of what a mafia group was all about and I'd Kelvin was really involved, things were going to get heated from here. Kelvin had an elevated ego and Finn had deflated it tonight. I was scared for me and more afraid for Finn and his

SCARLETT. The night passed slowly. Much to my disappointment. I didn't eat so much and it didn't matter if Finn made a delicious dinner. I asked him to keep the rest for me so I could have it later. We ended up not watching the movie as planned. Just sat on the couch, staring at the blank screen as we waited for one person to talk. Finn did. "I don't regret beating him up. I would have done worse." I said nothing. He continued. "When I saw the text you sent to me, I had already gotten to the garage and I wondered why he was visiting and how he knew this place. I decided your parents probably told him. I didn't want to wait outside because he was not to be trusted and before a minute elapsed, I realized I was right. I hated that I hadn't arrived sooner and when I saw him on you," he stopped himself and heaved a deep breath. "All I could feel within me was rage. So much rage. I wanted to snap his neck. I didn't even know what I was thinking. All I wanted to do wa

SCARLETT. Once we were done with breakfast, Finn went to get the car ready while I waited for Tiffany to get our lunch ready. I didn't particularly hate it but I also didn't like that she was packing our lunch like we were kids going to middle school. But trust Tiffany to wave me off each time I tried to tell her that we could get lunch from the deli or a restaurant nearby. "Here's a plate for you and a plate for Finn," She said as she placed the boxes in front of me. I stared down at it and sighed. "Tiffany, you know you don't have to do this, right?" She gave me a look. "But I want to. There's nothing you can do about it, okay?" "I feel like a middle school student, Tiffany." "Nobody gives a damn. You're the CEO of your own company and Finn what's he? Your driver or bodyguard?" I lowered my head, knowing the question she wanted to ask. "He has his own cubicle." She stamped her hand on the table. "I guess we won't be having a problem then." Fin

FINN. Scarlett was done with her meeting in no time. I was eating lunch when a knock sounded on my cubicle. She stepped in and looked around before smiling at me. "This place hasn't changed a bit. I think this place needs a retouch or something. What do you think?" I shrugged. "This place doesn't look too bad though," She narrowed her eyes on me. "You sure? I can do anything if you want me to. If you want to be moved to another office then that's fine. I just want you to feel as comfortable as you can." She was a really thoughtful person. Sometimes, she didn't see that side of her but I did. She cared about others even more than she cared about herself and I had seen it in the way she treated Raya and my mother. "It's fine, Scar," I said and patted my lap. "Come sit here. Tell me what they said about the fair," "You look like you went down there to see what's going on. Did you?" He nodded and laughed. "Yes, I did. I couldn't just sit here and imagine th

THIRD PERSON’S POV "You know, it would do no damage if you told me where you were going that night," Scarlett asked as she leaned back on the lounge close to the pool area, hands on her belly, watching as Finn flipped steak on the grill. It had been three months now and that question had gone unanswered. No excuse for the lie Finn told could exonerate him. He turned towards her and sighed. "If you worry less about that night and more about the babies we are to have in less than six months, it'd be a good thing." She sat up. "Really? My husband sneaking out of the house late at night when he's supposed to fuck me the next morning doesn't deserve an answer?" Finn blew out a heavy breath and flipped the steak again before he turned to look at her, both hands on his hip. He looked really funny in the apron he was wearing. "I am starting to believe that the only reason you keep asking me this question is because I should have been fucking you instead of sneaking out of

  • The Billionaire's Outrageous Addiction   159. Married To Finn

SCARLETT. Worst day of my life. I didn't want to think of how things had gone this morning; how I had cried several times and ruined my makeup. How I had yelled at everyone, not minding if they were just there to do their jobs. None of the bridesmaids were my friends. I had told my friends I didn't want them to be bridesmaids when I was getting married to a man I hated the most. Wasn't it weird to be married to another man while going through a heartbreak from another to whom you had confessed your feelings to and he had done the same? Things were only going to get shittier from here and my parents were to blame. I hadn't spoken to either of them and as my father curled his arm for me to slip mine through, I cursed the day I was born into this family. I should have been poor and less privileged. Maybe Finn and I would have gotten married. I wondered what he was doing now. Happy with his family, on his way to falling in love with another woman who wasn't as problematic as

FINN. I'd gotten to the verge of telling her that I was her groom. It had taken a lot of restraint for me to actually walk away. As I drove towards the warehouse, I stared at the bag she had returned to me and sighed. I hated to put her in this position but that was it. After dealing with Kelvin tomorrow, I was to see the designer in charge of my wedding tux to get it fitted. It was going to be a long day for me tomorrow. As soon as I got to the warehouse, one of the guards standing by the entrance of the warehouse hurried towards me and bowed. "Boss, they are all waiting inside for you." Was I ever going to get used to being addressed as boss and treated like one? Because why did it feel a little weird that this man was treating me like a god? My father must have really had a huge impact on them for them to show me this much respect, age regardless. The warehouse was filled with people. Some worked on cars, and some sat around tables with drinks in front of them,

SCARLETT. All day, I waited for Finn to return with mixed feelings. What if something went wrong again? Wasn't he going to see Raya? He was supposed to be back in about three hours. But it was seven hours already and quite late. I had tried distracting myself with movies but then, my father had sent a text, telling me that my wedding dress was ready and would be delivered on my wedding day because he didn't want me ruining it. What the hell was going on? When I sent him a text, informing him that I was no longer getting married and that I didn't care if he was going to take all that I had, I didn't get a response. Calling him was futile because he didn't even pick up my call. I had to call my mother, who informed me that everything happening right now was out of her control. I had been infuriated by her words but that was it, I guess. I had spent the rest of the day fuming and waiting for Finn to return so I could narrate my ordeal to him. I was in the

FINN. For someone who I had believed was so powerful and controlling and could do anything he liked, Scarlett's father could really be humbled. After he had asked me to wait, he had led me to his study, his demeanor changing from one of scorn to the utmost respect. It was really amusing to see him humbled. We spoke for minutes and he decided that we had to work together. I hadn't made it easy for him anyway. I kept throwing jabs of how much of a terrible father he had been to Scarlett. "Finn, I know all of these," He had said at one point. "But I had to do certain things because she was my only child. If I hadn't been hard on her, she wouldn't be where she is today." "By that, you mean being aware that she was molested when she was a teenager and you did nothing about it? Going ahead to get her married to the same man who molested her when she was young. That's how you thought you were training her?" I asked, my voice laced with disgust. "You really did a bad job

FINN. I watched as she slept in my arms. We had talked after our kiss and she'd told me how she'd been at the therapist's twice this week and was getting better. I was so proud of her. She could actually do without me having to be there. She was becoming a better version of herself and I was extremely glad that I was there to witness it. I was never going to let her leave my side. She belonged to me now and it felt refreshing to know that this woman loved me as much as I did and had, in fact, loved me for a long time. Things were starting to fall into place. Meeting her was a miracle. I had to admit that to myself. Ignoring the ups and downs, she was really a blessing to me. Somehow, she has made me a better version of myself to her and my family. With her, I'd been able to afford a whole lot and I found out the truth about my father's life and how he was killed. I couldn't tell her. This was top secret but there was someone else I could tell. Someone who knew

SCARLETT. I had been pacing about the living room when I caught a glimpse of a black, matte Maserati stopping in front of my house. I had paused, wondering who it was, and when a familiar figure came out of the car, dressed impeccably and looking like he hadn't gone through a series of tortures from the man I hated most in the world, my heart flew. The glass of brandy I had been holding slipped into my hand and crashed to the floor as I burst into a fit of tears while still running toward him. Just as I opened the door, he was there, standing before me with a smile and I just knew, I just knew I had to tell him everything. I just knew he meant a lot to me. We were seated on one of the couches and I couldn't just take my hands off him. I touched his face, searched his hands for any form of bruises, and even had to pull his chest up. I covered a hand over my mouth and more tears slipped down my cheeks when I saw the red marks, he had gotten from being constantly electro
