The late evening breeze blew cold air outside and there was no doubt that the night was going to be a cold one. For those in a romantic relationship, it was the ideal night to make love.
Outside Romeo's bar, Eve had just been dumped like a piece of the garbage next to Olivia who had gotten up from the floor and was dusting off dirt from her dress.
The bouncer dumped Eve next to her best friend at a corner outside and before he returned to the club he charged the security guys outside to prevent Olivia and Eve from getting inside if they dared attempt.
Even sat on the cold floor with her legs stretched forth and was crying uncontrollably. Olivia moved closer to her, she bent over and wrapped her arms around Eve, pulling her into a tight hug.
"Everything will be okay. That man doesn't deserve your tears." Olivia consoled and stroke Eve's back tenderly.
"Devin had me thrown out like a piece of shit." Even lamented with tears streaming down her cheeks. "He kicked me out and..." she stammered.
"Shhh!" Olivia hushed her. "It's over Eve. It's all over. You have to accept the fact that you guys are done."
Eve instantly stopped crying and quickly pulled away from the hug. She stood up. "Maybe I should force my way in and beg him for forgiveness. Maybe I did something and he's mad at me." She said, gasping for breath.
Eve began walking toward the entrance and Olivia pulled her back. "I'm not letting you do this to yourself. You are not getting back to that place."
"I don't know what to do? I feel miserable." Eve lamented and busted into tears.
Olivia continued pulling Eve away from the club entrance while Eve tried to resist. "You deserve someone better. Devin is a coward."
"How am I going to get through this? Did you see how he humiliated me in front of everyone?"
"I saw it all my friend. I saw what that jerk did to you."
"My whole life is ruined," Eve concluded and began to pace around.
"I understand how you feel Eve but you can't do this to yourself." Olivia retorted.
"You don't understand how I feel," Eve screamed and shook Olivia away from herself.
"What are those people back there going to say whenever any of them comes in contact with me? " Eve asked with pain in her eyes. "They all think I'm a lunatic."
Eve began running away and Olivia ran after her while clinging to their bags. She caught up with Eve and turned her around. They were standing at a junction. Olivia hugged Eve again. "Nobody is going to call you a lunatic. And those people back at the club will barely remember your face. Take it from me. "
"I'm crazy. Devin called me a crazy lady."
"Devin is the crazy one."
The best friends were still hugging each other. "Olivia, do you think I'm crazy?" Eve slowly asked.
Olivia immediately broke off the embrace. "Don't you ever ask me that." she charged while holding Eve's hands.
"Devin said he has been together with Isabel for three years," Eve said and lowered her head. "I guess it's Isabel he had been cheating on with me," she added.
"And all this time, I thought it was you he cheated on," Olivia responded.
"Maybe fate broke you guys apart so you wouldn't get to deal with what's coming. Devin is such a loser and you my friend, are someone much better. I think it's a great thing you guys are no longer together. Now you know his real face."
"Do you think anyone is going to ever love me?" Eve demanded and broke into tears again.
Olivia sighed and hugged her and this time, she didn't stop Eve from crying. When it comes to relationships, Eve had never been lucky. It was either she got cheated on or was abused by her exes. When she met Devin, she was charmed by his soft-spoken nature, calm personality, and romantic gestures. She then assumed he was different from the rest but tonight, he had completed the cliche that 'All men are the same.'
"I think I have an idea," Olivia said and began wiping away the tears streaming down Eve's cheeks.
"What are you saying?" Eve asked.
Olivia took her hand and began marching toward the clothing store she had spotted while they were sharing a hug. "Just follow my lead."
Eve reluctantly followed Olivia to the clothing store and stood a few meters away from thereafter them got inside. Eve saw Olivia presenting her credit card to the cashier at the counter and in less than five minutes, she returned to Eve with a dress.
"What are you doing Olivia?" Eve asked as Olivia led her by the hand to the receptionist.
"Can we use the lady's room please?" Olivia asked.
The cheerful receptionist smiled, exposing her twin dimples. "Of course."
Olivia led Eve to the lady's room and presented the dress to her. "Get dressed, we are hitting the bar."
"What?"
"You heard me right Eve. We are hitting the bar downtown. The night is still young and when we get there, I want you to relax and have fun. To hell with Devin."
Eve took the dress and heaved a deep sigh. "I need a good drink." she agreed and Olivia smiled.
Eve then took off her messy dress and walked into the bathroom. She showered while Olivia waited for her. When she came out with a towel tied across her chest which she had picked from the lady's room, she was shocked to see Olivia with a hairdryer.
"What? Don't look at me like that. This is a lady's store. There are lots of things here." Olivia defended and told Eve to meet her in the dressing room.
When Eve moved to the dressing room, she slipped into the white skimpy lace gown with an opening at the back. She dried her hair with the towel and rushed to meet Olivia in the reception room. In less than an hour, Olivia had transformed the messy broken Eve into a classy chic.
As they made their way outside the store, Olivia said "Now we will get into the bar and have fun. Forget Devin. He is history and is having the best night of his life in Romeo's club so you'll be a fool to be crying for that bastard."
Eve nodded in agreement and smiled. "Let's roll."
"That's my girl."
The ladies stopped a taxi and paid him to take them to the bar downtown. Eve was looking gorgeous. Olivia had helped her apply a little make-up and her hair was neatly parked. Olivia always carried her make-up tools in her handbag.
After the taxi dropped them at their destination, the ladies took bold steps toward the bar and as they were about to step inside, Olivia turned to Eve and said. "Forget about that looser called Devin. I don't want to ever hear about him again. Get into that bar and have fun."
The bar downtown is known for its privacy. There is a narrative that it is in that bar that the elites meet with commoners. There are no preferential treatments except one secures a VIP lounge and in that bar, everyone seems to be always minding his business.
When Eve and Olivia stepped into the bar, they were shocked to see it crowded. The bar stand was active as all bar stools were occupied. The sofa's around were also occupied and the VIP lounge was a no-go area for Eve and Olivia. Half-naked women were sprawled on the sofa next to men, making out while the ones who came alone were having their drinks.
Eve finally spotted two men getting off the bar stools and she quickly dragged Eve to the bar stand. The bar was a large one and sometimes, the free space at the center is used for dancing.
"Hi, what can I offer you beautiful ladies?" the red-haired bar attendant, smartly dressed in her service uniform asked.
"Two shots of tequila please," Eve replied and Olivia agreed with a smile.
"There you go." the lady said presenting the two glasses before the ladies.
Both women grabbed their shots and swallowed them greedily. "I think I'm starting to feel better," Eve commented and slightly shut her eyes.
"That's more like it. Two more shots please." Olivia screamed at the bar attendant.
Two glasses of shots were brought and the ladies drank it in a flash. They giggled and requested another round.
"I don't mind getting drunk tonight," Eve said after a dry laugh. "I just want to get this pain off my chest."
"Well, if getting drunk is going to make you feel better then I'm getting drunk with you tonight," replied Olivia.
They laughed. "So who is going to take us home?"
"We might as well spend the night here if our vision gets blurred. Those sofas will soon be empty anyway."
"Silly," Eve said and shook her head.
"More shots please," Olivia shouted. She was already tipsy.
Eve grabbed her glass and raised it toward Olivia who did the same. "This is for that son of a bitch called Devin. I'm washing you down my system," she said and drank up.
"Bye boy! " Olivia screamed and emptied the shot in her mouth.
Eve shut her eyes and nodded repeatedly. "I feel good."
They were served another round of shots and Olivia decided to make the toast this time. "This is to that mother fucker called Gayle, who had a baby mama and claimed to be a virgin so he could screw me up." she was referring to her ex.
"Go to hell Gayle and all the bloody men out there. My friend and I care about you no more." Eve screamed and they slightly hit their glasses against one another and drank up.
"I feel so high and so good," Olivia said after a loud belch. She got down from the barstool and was using the bar counter to support her body.
"I feel like my feet are on the clouds. I can't see anything." Eve yelled after standing up too. "But I feel alive and free." she quickly added.
Then, loud music came on. "Are you feeling good tonight?" Eve yelled to Olivia.
"What? I can't hear you. The music is too loud." Olivia replied and yawned.
Soon, the center of the bar was filling up with people who were vibing to the loud music. Eve loosened her long hair and it graced her shoulders.
"I want to dance," she yelled and held her forehead after feeling a sharp pain.
"Go and hit the dance floor girl. I'll just crash here. I might join you later." Olivia replied and sat back on the barstool. She placed her head on the counter and fell asleep while Eve staggered to the dance floor. It was past 11 pm.
"Excuse me, guys. Let me through" Eve yelled and made her way into the middle of the dance floor. She shut her eyes, took off her heels, flung them by the corner, and began to sway her desirable hips.
"I feel so good," she screamed and began to jump while Olivia lay on the counter, fast asleep, snoring like a horse.
Eve had never been a fan of dancing at bars or clubs. She preferred sitting at the bar stand, admiring the people dancing while sipping her drink. Sometimes, Olivia had to drag her to the dance floor and force her to shake some moves but tonight, her drunken state was doing the magic.
Eve swayed her hips rhythmically and soon, she was lost in the music. Her eyes were shut, and her body movement on that stage was unmatched.
Someone walked to the stage and pulled Eve closer to his body from behind. Ever felt someone's hands around her waist and a hard body grinding against her.
"I never thought you would show up!" Dane remarked the moment Olivia slapped her purse on the round table. "We are talking about preparations for my best friend's wedding here. I wouldn't mind seeing your annoying face." She replied and sat opposite him. Dane chuckled and crossed his legs. Henry and Eve broke the news of their engagement to them a week ago. Dane was to serve as Henry's best man while Olivia, was the chief bridesmaid. It's two weeks to the wedding and preparations were already heating up. Dane had invited Olivia that evening to the cafe so they could review their plans for the wedding. "Do you want anything?" He asked and pointed to the menu card. Olivia waved her hand down. "I'm good." Dane reclined on the chair. "You'll rather starve than have a drink with me don't you?" She broke into a laugh and grabbed the menu card. "You know what Dane? You have a way of cracking me up even when I'm being a tough girl." He sat up and blinked at her. "Maybe I was created
"So what's your plan? Staying all day in bed without a job till you have the baby?' Mrs Bloom raised her voice at Eve.Eve was sprawled on the bed, facing her phone. She was having a video call with her mother."Eve, if you don't want to get a job then at least you can tell Henry about the baby. He should have thought about his marriage before putting the baby there.""Come on mom!'"I'm serious, Eve. Child support is necessary. Meanwhile, I'm not happy with the fact that you planned to raise this baby alone. I didn't raise you alone so my grandbaby deserves a father." Mrs Bloom went on ranting.Eve sighed and stroked her forehead. "I have enough funds in my savings account that can cater for the baby so you don't have to worry about that and about speaking to Henry, I'll do that when the time is right.""You better do so.""Have you told dad about it?"Mrs Bloom arched a brow. "Didn't you say you'll do that yourself?"Eve gave repeated nods. "I'll come home mom and I'll tell him ever
Dane pulled his sports car to a halt at the entrance to the parking lot and quickly stepped out."This better be good." He muttered under his breath and charged toward Olivia who was standing under a lemon tree, a few meters away from the park entrance. It was a few minutes past 6 pm and about fifteen minutes earlier, Olivia had called Dane and asked her to meet with him, stating that they needed to speak urgently. He got to the spot she was standing and instantly flashed a smile at her. Why the hell was he grinning like a clown Olivia wondered and quickly turned away after a smirk.Dane cleared his throat loudly and gave his forehead a delicate scrape. He was not the kind of man who was used to putting his perfect set of dentition on display and he couldn't tell why he got excited and had to smile at the sight of Olivia.Olivia adjusted the leather bag hanging around her left arm and began taking steps toward Dane. He remained rooted to his spot and felt like the ground was going to
Eve took sluggish steps toward the door. She had been avoiding them for quite a long time and she knew that the sooner she faced them, the better for her sanity. She stood by the door for several seconds and tried to keep her breath in check. She didn't see who was banging on her door but she could bet that it was either Olivia or Jen.After exhaling twice, she opened the door and saw the ladies standing outside. She flashed a quick smile at them and before she could usher them into the house, they flew in.She slammed the door behind her and turned to face their inquisitive faces. They were both folding their arms across their chests and staring at her like an owl."And why the hell was your phone off for two days?" Olivia flung the question at her.Eve sighed and moved to the twin couch."Some ladies from your hate club had been blowing up my phone. I don't even know why I gave them my phone number in the first place." Jen lamented. She moved to the couch and settled next to Eve by
Eve was glad that she had spoken to her mother. She was feeling a bit relieved and was glad that her mother didn't judge or condemn her. Mrs Bloom was sensitive enough to realize that at that moment, Eve needed all the support and comfort she could get.*****"I'm so happy to see you!" Phil declared and almost pulled her to the floor because he had immersed her in a tight hug. Eve smiled and hugged him. If she had her way, she would have pulled him away because she woke up that morning feeling edgy. She attributed the sudden feeling to pregnancy hormones."I never thought you would show up today," Phil commented after they broke off the embrace. "You need rest Eve. You can count on me to handle things while you are recuperating. Remember, health is wealth." Eve gave a warm smile and folded her arms across her chest. Who would have thought that she could get along with Phil? Two weeks ago, they could barely stand each other."Thank you so much, Phil." She replied. She was going to mi
Eve shut her eyes and opened them immediately. Just when she thought that she was hallucinating, she realized that the doctor was still standing by her bed.He kept the file he was holding next to her on the bed and left after flashing a bright smile.Even grabbed the file with trembling hands and her gaze instantly fell on the result after she opened it. She shut the file after a gasp and quickly turned away. She was fucking pregnant!"Damn it!" She muttered under her breath and squeezed the bedsheet. Her head began to spin in circles. She was carrying Henry's baby. According to the report, the doctor handed it over to her, she was three weeks gone.Whether she was three weeks gone, a month or two months gone, it was certain as death that the baby she is carrying is Henry's.He was the only man she had been with and on countless occasions, they had been together without using protection even though there were times she took pills, there were a few times she skipped the pills. She th
