Standing at the emergency room entrance, time seemed to drag on slowly, as though it had frozen in place.

David's children beckoned him to sit on a nearby bench and take a break.

Though David's mother was clearly upset, she remained composed as she sat beside him, as if the person who had just rattled their world was someone else entirely.
