“You can’t leave,” he said, pulling me along with him out of the airport. My heart raced as his grip tightened, and I struggled to break free.

“What the fuck?” I creaked, trying to free myself from his grasp. “Let me go." My mind raced with fear and confusion as I desperately searched for an escape route.

“I said you can’t leave,” I shouted again, trying to push him away, but this man was as stiff as a giant brick wall. He doesn’t move an inch. I realized that I was trapped in his grasp.

“Come with me." He said he was pulling him along with him outside the airport.

“What do you want?" I questioned him as he pushed me inside a giant, expensive car. My heart pounded in my chest as the car door slammed shut, leaving me feeling even more trapped. The man's cold, calculating eyes met mine in the rearview mirror, and I knew that whatever he wanted, it wouldn't be easy to escape.

"Now, are you talking?" I said, my voice trembling with fear. The man's devilish smile only grew wider, sending shivers down my spine.

Damn, he is scary. I sighed loudly, trying to get out of the car, but all the doors were locked. I glanced around, searching for any possible means of escape, but the windows were tinted and impossible to break. Desperation washed over me as I realized that I was completely at his mercy.

“Stay still," he shouted, moving closer and closer to me as I backed further into my seat, my heart pounding in my chest. I feared what would happen next.

Why the hell is he getting close to me? I thought about trying to slide as far as I could, but when I couldn't get any more space to glide, I closed my eyes tightly, waiting for worse to happen to me.

He is angry, maybe because of what I said to him at the airport. I thought as I sensed his hand around my waist, trying something around me.

I opened my eyes, staring, only to find him securing the seat belt for me.

I sighed loudly in relief.

“Are you hoping for something else?” He asks, giving me a stink eye. I quickly shook my head, trying to convey that I was not expecting anything else. The tension in the air seemed to dissipate as he loosened his grip on the seat.

"No,” I said, shaking my head furiously to emphasize my point.

“Good.” He mumbled as the car started moving. I could feel the weight of his gaze on me, and I couldn't help but wonder what he had initially thought.

“Where are you taking me?” I asked, staring at the scenery moving out of the window. “Stop the car!" I shouted at the driver, but he seemed to ignore my words. “For God's sake, I have a plane to catch.” I turned my face at the man, wanting to kill him right here, but rather than that, I grabbed his collar. “Stop the car. Now, I need to catch the plane no matter what." I shouted, pulling his collar and staring at him very closely.

He placed his hands on my hand as he separated my hands from his collar. “No woman or even man has dared to do what you did today," he said, redoing his shirt collar. “I forgive you this time, but don’t ever do this again.

"Behave,” he warned, his voice firm.

“Behave…my foot,” I shouted back at him, my anger boiling over. “Let me go, or I will call the police.”

“Call them; I don’t care," he said, staring at his wristwatch. “And about your flight, it's up in the air now.”

What? I can’t believe it. I don’t want to trust his words, but he might be right. I sighed about losing one and only hoped to change my life. All my dreams and hopes of a new life. Everything is ruined now.

I’m lost. I don’t know what to do now. There is no hope for me now. I thought I felt something wet on my face. I touched it only to notice myself crying. Never before have tears fallen from my eyes, no matter how bad the situation, but now the streaming doesn’t seem to stop.

I turned my head, staring out of the window, as I tried to dry my eyes. I don’t want anyone to witness me crying. I can’t be weak, not in front of a stranger.

I sensed a moment beside me as a handkerchief was gently placed in my hand. "Here.," he said, sighing out loud.

I took a deep breath, turning my head toward the bastard who ruined my only chance for a new start.

“I don’t need your pity. What do you want? First, you kidnapped me from the airport, and now you’re offering me your handkerchief.” I said, my voice filled with anger and frustration.

"Look, I'm sorry,” he said, sighing loudly. “But I can’t let go that easily."

“Can’t let me go... why because I talk to your kids or because they like me more than their own father?" I shot back, my words dripping with sarcasm.

His eyes flickered with a mix of guilt and anger. “Hear me out first, for once, and I will explain everything to you," he said, staring at me.

"Fine, it's not like I can do anything else,” I said, sighing loudly. I crossed my arms, waiting for him to begin his explanation. The tension in the car was palpable as he took a deep breath and began to speak.

"So... both kids that you met at the airport are mine," he said, and I nodded my head at his words.

“But wait... where are they now?" I asked, as I hadn’t seen them leaving the airport with him.

“They are fine. They are behind us and in different cars.” He pointed his finger at the car following behind us.

“Great parenting,” I mumbled to myself. He can’t even be with his kids in the same car.

"Look… You can judge me as much as you want, but the point is, I need your help to keep my kids with me," he said, sighing out loud in the end.

“How?” I asked curiously. I couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for him, realizing that there must be more to the story than meets the eye.

“I have seen how my kids act with you,” he said with a small smile plastered on his face. “I haven’t seen them so happy since..."

“Since your wife died.” I completed the sentence for him, understanding the weight of his unspoken words.

His mouth popped open upon hearing my words. “How do you know?”

“Summer told me,” I replied with a gentle nod.

“That's strange,” he mumbled, staring at me. “What else did she tell you?”

Well, I don’t know if I should tell him this...

“She told me that she hates you. That's why she wants to stay away from you.” I said he deserves to know how his kids feel about him. Maybe he will try to change for them.

He sighed loudly at my words. “You know there was a time when I was her hero,” he said with a smile.

“Then change yourself if you care. The way you treated her in the airport shows how little you care about them.” I could see the hurt in his eyes as my words sank in.

“I love my kids," he cut between my words with a pained expression.

“Then show them. Don't just act like an asshole.” I could sense his internal struggle as he pondered my words.

“You’re right,” he said, taking my hand in his hand. “That’s why I need you.”

"First, I don’t let strangers touch me,” I said, removing my hands from him. “And second, why the hell do you think I will help you after how you treated me?” I crossed my arms, staring at him with a mix of disbelief and anger.

"You'll..." he mumbled again. Pulling out a checkbook from his bag that was lying somewhere around the car. “Enter the amount you need, and I will pay you. But you need to work for me.”

My eyes are trying to pop out of my socket as he places a blank check in my hand. What the hell is he trying to buy me? I don’t need his money.

“Sorry to disappoint you, but I don’t need your money,” I said, tearing the paper into pieces. “I don't want to work for you.” The man's face turned red with frustration as he watched me tear up the check.

“Fine… Don’t work for me, but work for my kids," he said calmly.

“What do you mean?” I asked, surprised by her calmness and behavior. I thought if I acted rudely towards him, he might throw me out of the car, and I would finally leave for the airport and catch the next flight.

“I need you to take care of my kids,” he said, pausing for a bit. “I want you to work as a live-in nanny for my kids.”

I couldn't help but feel a mixture of shock and disbelief at his request. The thought of being responsible for someone else's children on a live-in basis seemed overwhelming and daunting. He shook his head at my words. “I’m just stating the facts. I want you to take care of my kids, and for that, I can pay any amount you wish.” I sighed loudly, trying to calm my mind. “For the last time, I didn’t care about money. Rich, and me... What a joke! “I’m anything but rich." “Then you are a fool to let go of such a great deal," he said, his eyes not leaving mine. "Maybe..." I replied with a hint of sad

I don’t know how many minutes, seconds, or hours have passed since I lost consciousness, but I couldn't make myself open my eyes; my head is starting to throb badly, and I can feel a dull ache spreading throughout my entire body. The darkness surrounding me feels suffocating, making it even more difficult to gather the strength to regain consciousness. I also heard random voices from around: “She seems to be sleep-deprived and also malnourished. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be any problem with her.” The voices seemed distant, as if they were discussing my condition from afar. “Is there anything I need to take care of?" I heard someone say something, but I couldn’t make out who the person was. “Nothing much; just feed her some healthy food, fruits, and vegetables, and let her get enough sleep. She will be fine.” The other voice said reassuringly. As the conversation continued, my mind lost consciousness again as I was lulled into deep slumber once again, unaware of the dis

God, this is the first someone cared about how I am. “I’m fine…how are you?” I said with a smile, ruffling her hair playfully. “I’m happy that you’re fine…,” she said, staring at my face. “Are you now going to stay with us? Right?” “Well….,” I don’t know how to answer her question. “Summer…you should finish eating your food first.” Hollis interrupted, saving me from answering the unknown question. “Okay Daddy..,” she said, returning to eat her food. “Sit…” Hollis said this time to me, as he pointed his finger to a stool next to Summer. “Okay…,” I sat beside Summer, as Hollis walked to the m

“I won’t force you if you don’t want to work here, but I will do anything in my power to change your mind,” he said, then paused. “Not because I want you, but because my kids want you." I sighed, shaking away the unnecessary thoughts from my mind. I understood the weight of his words and realized that my decision would not only impact my future but also the lives of his children. Why the hell, Hollis' words kept repeating in my mind. The same scene kept repeating in my mind. The image of his pleading eyes and the sound of his desperate voice echoed in my thoughts, making it difficult to focus on anything else. I knew that I couldn't ignore the significance of this opportunity and the potential impact it could have on all of our lives. No, why should I care? It's none of my business. But deep down, I couldn't shake off the feeling of responsibility that weighed heavily on me. As the first stars began to sprinkle the deepening indigo sky, the farmhouse seemed to glow with a warmth that hadn’t been there before. It wasn’t just a hiding place anymore—it was a sanctuary, a space where love and healing had begun to take root.I stood at the edge of the garden, watching Hollis and Summer as they worked side by side. Their laughter blended with the soft rustle of leaves, a melody of simple joy. Little Max toddled after them, his chubby hands grasping at flowers with an earnestness that only a one-year-old could muster. Hailey***The farmhouse had always been both a haven and a cage—a place far removed from the chaos that had consumed our lives. It was where I could pretend, even for a moment, that the world beyond its weathered walls didn’t exist. The isolation was a strange kind of comfort, one that held both solace and loneliness. The days passed quietly, the rhythm of the countryside punctuated only by the laughter of my children or the occasional rustle of wind through the trees.Summer, who had always been shy and reserved, had shown a bright curiosity these past few days. The seven-year-old had taken to exploring the nearby fields, dragging her little brother Max behind her like a loyal shadow. At just over a year old, Max was the perfect mimic, his chubby hands reaching for flowers or clapping at birds that flitted overhead. Watching them filled my heart with a fragile kind of peace.
