Me or the fireworks?

"I never imagined spending Christmas in the hospital," I said with a sigh. Maverick patted my head in response and I let out another defeated sigh.

"Don't you have a gift for me?" I asked turning to him with a smile on my face.

"A gift?" He asked and I nodded my head. We were both sitting on the couch facing the window. It was night time so the sky was covered with a thick blanket of unending darkness but the snow was falling rapidly.

It's been a week since I woke up. I was fit to go home but Maverick says I should stay here for two weeks more before we returned home. I have one week left to spend in this hospital. Not that I'm complaining!

"Oh, that's right. You don't celebrate Christmas. How did I forget that?" I mumbled before I faced forward.

"Do you want a gift?" He asked and I turned my face to him.
