Chapter 68: Something worse than death

(Cell phone dings)

The frequent dings of the cell phone ringing woke Alice up. She groaned inaudibly as she stirred in her sleep but the phone wouldn't stop ringing, forcing her awake and her senses which immediately got assaulted by the acrid stench of stale alcohol and the nauseating odor of semen. Her head throbbed mercilessly, a dull, relentless pounding that seemed to echo with every beat of her heart. She groaned loudly forcing herself to sit up as she held her head from the banging headache. She felt the taste of the previous night's liquor that still clung to her tongue, metallic and bitter, mingling with the dryness of her parched throat.

She winced in pain as her stomach churned with a queasy unease, and every muscle in her body ached with a deep, weary exhaustion. She forced her eyelids open to be greeted by the tangled sheets and discarded clothes, her face furrowed in a deep frown.
