Ms. Luce watched Heath's retreating figure and remarked, "Girl, I may never have been married in my life, but I can clearly see the way you look at him. Isn't he more than just a boyfriend?"

Aurora paused, then laughed, "Madam, what kind of look do you think I give him?"

"Dependence, trust, and sheer joy," Ms. Luce said.

Aurora gazed outside at Heath's departing car, murmuring, "Yes, everyone can see it, and he must see it too, right?"

Ms. Luce took Aurora's hand, patting it gently, "Darling, recognizing it is one thing, but expressing it is quite another."
