“What did he want?” I asked Russel who seemed to be as eager to have this conversation as he would be to have cobblestones for lunch.

“I already told you.” He replied, avoiding my gaze and choosing instead to focus all his attention on our daughter. I knew he adored her and was always eager to spend time with her, but I knew that this time, he had ulterior motives.
