Chapter 21.2

"Ah, yeah! It would be such a waste, so I’ll just put this in the vase in our living room," I said. He smiled at me in return.

I lost my focus on Carl when my phone vibrated again. I bit my lower lip, remembering that Wyatt called earlier and I forgot to answer.

I glanced at Carl, who was also looking at me. I smiled at him sheepishly and pointed at my phone. When he nodded, I stepped away slightly and answered the call.

Before I could even say anything, Wyatt’s deep, angry voice boomed in my ear from the other line. I don’t know why, but my heart started pounding fast, and I was nervous because of his tone.

He was furious.

"Get in the car," he ordered sternly, as if trying to contain his rage.

The phone was still pressed against my ear as I scanned the front of the building to look for his car. I spotted a black SUV — even though it was heavily tinted and it was my first time seeing it, I just knew it was his.

I swallowed hard as an image flashed in my mind of how angry

I didn’t have time to talk to him or listen to whatever he planned to say. First of all, we had nothing to talk about, and he didn’t need to rub in what was already very clear. If he was here to take back whatever lie he told me before, there was no need. I already understood—it’s not like I’m stupid."Can you please stop walking, and listen to me first?"I still ignored him and kept walking like he wasn’t even there. I raised my hand to shield my eyes from the bright sun.I moved away from Wyatt when he started walking beside me. He was blocking the sunlight that was hitting me. He tried to speak but stopped himself right away, which I was thankful for.I just hoped he didn’t notice that my eyes were swollen from crying all night.Just as I was about to hail a taxi, he held

Chapter 22.2As soon as we got out of the office, my heart instantly pounded with anxiety when I saw a familiar car parked not too far from where we were standing. And I wasn’t wrong—he got out of the car. I quickly averted my gaze and, without a second thought, pulled Carl away.I don’t know why he’s still showing up now. I already told him to leave, but he’s just so stubborn. I know I’m being immature for avoiding him right now, but can you blame me? I was just so hurt by what he did that even just seeing him brings pain to my heart.I can feel his eyes staring daggers at us, but I don’t give a damn. I just had too many expectations and assumptions about us—expectations that never should have existed in the first place. I forgot my boundaries just because something happened between us. I realized that it didn’t give me the right to feel even a little bit of pain, or to even be jealous in the first place. When Carl and I arrived at the eatery, we immediately looked for a table near t

Even though I didn’t really understand anything she said, I still nodded. She’d keep talking no matter what I say anyway.I just ignored her when she started ranting again. I was focused on eating the spicy chicken wings. After Christian, who’s Wyatt’s employee, brought the chicken wings yesterday, this is what I’ve been eating. I don’t know why, but every time I crave spicy chicken wings, I just find myself texting Wyatt for it.I tried to buy some spicy chicken wings after work yesterday, but they didn’t taste good to me. The chicken wings Wyatt sends me taste so much better. So for the sake of these spicy chicken wings, I text Wyatt.Maybe Catelyn sensed that I didn’t want to talk, so she went quiet. I took that as a cue to continue eating my spicy chicken wings in peace too. After a minute, I finished the whole bucket of spicy ch

Chapter 23.2I realized that someone as strong as Cate is also broken inside—but that doesn't mean they're weak. Even if they always show a strong facade, they're still human, and they have feelings too. They've gone through all that pain alone, and the fact that they chose to move forward is already a brave act. But sometimes, they also need someone to reassure them that everything’s going to be okay. That they don’t have to go through all of it alone—that they can lean on the people who truly love them.In every silent battle, all they need is someone to stand beside them. To hold their hand and make them feel important, too.Cate and I talked for a few more minutes before she went home, only after making sure I was feeling better. I just went to my room and fell asleep.I woke up feeling dizzy. When I opened my eyes, everything around me was completely dark. When I looked to my side, I saw a shadow looming over me. Since I had just woken up and had slept for quite a while, I couldn

She took a deep breath and finally gave up on the zipper."You’re right! Chapter 24.2Am I really pregnant?Even though I was scared of the possibilities, I immediately called Catelyn to ask for help. “Cate…” “I’m coming over now.” I blinked rapidly as I stared at the two pregnancy tests placed on top of the sink. My hands trembled as I reached for the box and read the instructions, even though Catelyn had already explained it to me earlier. One red line. Negative. Two red lines. Positive. After we talked earlier, she volunteered to buy the tests and left me alone at the apartment. I was just staring blankly the whole time, lost in thought about all the possible outcomes if—if I'm really pregnant, just like what Catelyn suspected. “Loise?” I turned toward the bathroom door when Catelyn knocked from outside. After giving me the pregnancy tests earlier, I had told her to wait outside. “Uh…” I cleared my throat before answering, “W-what is it?” “You know what you’re supposed to do, right?” she asked nervously, clearly trying to stay strong f

WARNING: THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS MATURE SCENES THAT ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR 17 YEARS OLD AND BELOW. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.————Chapter 27.1I was surprised when a staff brought me to a large villa, while my companions went straight to the hotel. Since I didn’t have my suitcase with me, I only had my sling bag when I was brought to the villa the staff mentioned. The location of the villa was beautiful, as it faced the seashore, and you could definitely see both the sunset and sunrise from there. I thanked the male staff who brought me to the front of the cabin. After he left, I took the card the staff gave me earlier in the hotel lobby and opened the door.I was immediately greeted by a spacious living room. There were white sofas, and in the center was a wooden coffee table. There were paintings on the walls of the villa, adding to its beauty. As I looked around, I saw a brown door on the side. I walked over and opened it. A room greeted me—with a white bed that had posts on each corner.

Chapter 26.2"Christian? What are you doing here?" I looked behind him. He was the one I saw with Wyatt—the bodyguard in Singapore, where we first met."Fetching you, ma'am," he answered firmly. He stood composed in front of me. When I looked behind him again, that's when I noticed a black car parked in front of my apartment."Huh?" I asked in confusion and looked back at him. "Why?"Instead of answering my question, he said something else—something I didn't expect."Just give me your baggage, ma'am, and I'll send you to the airport safely."I didn’t ask Christian any more questions. It was probably Wyatt who ordered him to pick me up. He must’ve found out I was leaving today and sent Christian to get me.Christian carried my suitcase and placed it in the back of the car. I chose to sit in the front seat because I felt I might get dizzy in the back."How did he know?" I asked Christian once he was seated in the driver's seat. He turned to me and gave a small smile."He surely knows ev
