Chapter 12.1When I got back to the apartment, I quickly changed into a fresh, clean set of clothes and fixed myself up. I didn’t stay there for long. Since I had already packed, I left right away and headed to the hospital. I felt so uneasy on my way there. Instead of taking a jeepney, I took a taxi because I wasn’t sure if it was safe for me to ride public transportation at that moment. I felt like there were eyes watching my every move. Besides, it was getting late, so taking a taxi was the better option. Upon arriving at the hospital, I was greeted by the strong scent of alcohol and various medicines. The nurses were busy attending to newly arrived patients. A stretcher carrying a bloodied patient almost hit me. I quickly averted my gaze, feeling a sudden wave of fear. I probably wouldn’t find Nurse Tessa in Dad’s room. It looked like there was an emergency, and the doctors and other nurses needed all the help they could get. As expected, Nurse Tessa wasn’t in Dad’s room.
Chapter 12.2I did what I was told. I stayed inside the room and waited for him. I didn’t have to wait long since he came back quickly. He brought two paper bags, one of which was from the fancy restaurant near the hospital. No wonder he arrived so fast—it was just nearby. He placed the two paper bags on top of the small table in front of the sofa. After setting them down, he sat on the sofa across from it. From the paper bag with the expensive restaurant’s logo, he took out five disposable food containers. The unbranded paper bag contained two plates and two sets of utensils. I just sat there silently, watching him as he opened the containers one by one. There were also some utensils in the other paper bag. He started setting them on the table while I continued watching him. "Come here," he said, looking at me. Despite feeling hesitant, I stood up and walked toward where he was sitting. "Sit beside me, Eloise," he instructed. Like a robot, I obeyed him, but I made sure
Chapter 13.1I woke up when I felt something heavy draped over my stomach. I also felt a breath against my neck. When I opened my eyes, I found Wyatt lying beside me, his arm wrapped around my waist, and his head nestled against my neck. I gasped at what I saw. I couldn't move, nor could I even speak. I took a deep breath and looked at him. He was sleeping soundly—he wasn’t snoring and remained completely silent. I traced his forehead when he suddenly frowned, his embrace tightening around me. He looked scared, and I didn’t know why. After a few seconds, his breathing became steady again. I continued tracing his forehead down to his pointed nose. After watching him for a while, I decided to get up. Someone might walk in and see us in this position. They might think the wrong thing about the two of us. The sun hadn't risen yet, so the cold still lingered in the air. I was about to remove Wyatt’s arm that was wrapped around me, but he only tightened his grip. He must be awak
Chapter 13.2"Uh, Eloise? Can you hand me my bag, please?" I glared at Wyatt, who now had his head peeking out from the slightly open bathroom door. I grabbed his bag, which was just below the sofa, and angrily threw it at him. It hit him right in the face. "Damn you!" "What did I do?" he asked, laughing as he adjusted his bag. The part of his face where the bag hit had turned red. "'What did I do?' Your damn face!" I yelled at him, completely furious. The more he spoke, the more my blood boiled in anger. He was seriously raising my blood pressure! He just smirked at me before going back inside the bathroom because if he didn't, I might actually end up behind bars for murder because of him. After he finished showering—and after I had taken my turn—we had breakfast together. He mentioned that he had a meeting at 10 AM, so he probably wouldn't be able to have lunch with me, which was completely fine by me. I was still annoyed at what he did earlier! Ugh! No matter what I d
Chapter 14.1The next day, I woke up to the sound of two consecutive knocks on the door. I still wanted to sleep, but whoever was knocking on my apartment door seemed to be in a hurry and couldn't wait any longer. With my eyes still closed and half-conscious, I got out of bed. I quickly fixed my hair and adjusted my sleepwear before leaving my room and walking toward the living room. I yawned as I opened the front door of the apartment. I rubbed my eyes absentmindedly and then looked to see who had arrived. "Good morning," I greeted the person in front of me without thinking. There were really times when not only was my hair a mess in the morning, but so was my brain. I didn’t even know why I greeted them—words just came out of my mouth. A smiling Wyatt Wolfenstein welcomed me the moment my vision cleared. He was wearing a simple gray polo shirt, cargo shorts, white shoes, and black sunglasses. His cologne lingered in my nose, and he smelled really nice. He leaned toward m
Chapter 14.2"Let`s go," I said to Wyatt, who was still sitting on the sofa waiting for me as I stepped out of the room. I waited for him to stand up and walk out first before following him. I simply trailed behind him. When we reached the door, I stopped to lock the apartment. Once I was sure the door was locked, I followed him to the car parked out front. I quietly got into the car and sat down. "Aren't we leaving yet?" I asked him. When I turned to look at him, he was already holding a white t-shirt, which he had taken from a black duffel bag in the backseat. "Come closer," he said. "Huh?" "Tsk." Since he hadn’t put on his seatbelt yet, it was easy for him to move closer to me. I was puzzled about what he was going to do. I was about to ask when his actions answered my unspoken question. He held my hair and started drying it with his white t-shirt. "You should dry your hair; the water is dripping onto your blouse," he said. When I looked down at my blouse, it was
Chapter 15.1How do you even know when you're falling? When you're in love with someone? What does it feel like to love? And to be loved in return by the person you love? They say that true love is a decision. You choose to commit to someone because you love them. You choose them every day and show them how much you love them. But what if I’ve never truly felt love before? How can I say for sure that what I’m feeling is love? “Eloise?” Cate’s voice pulled me back to reality. “Huh?” I turned to her, still lost in thought. “Do you like him?” she asked again. “If you’re afraid of liking him, there’s nothing wrong with that. We’re free to like and love whoever we want. There’s no law that says you can’t love someone just because of your differences in status. It’s just people who think that way,” she said in a long monologue. “I don’t know,” I replied. She sighed and held my hand tightly. “Listen to this,” she said, pointing at my chest where my heart was. “Listen to this, but
Chapter 15.2I still felt a bit embarrassed because of the way the other employees looked at me as I walked away. I couldn't keep still as I kept checking the time on my phone. I had been waiting here for almost two hours, yet there was still no sign of Wyatt. My back was starting to ache from sitting for so long, just waiting for him. "Ma’am?" I jolted when someone touched my shoulder. When I looked up to see who it was, I realized it was the security guard. I straightened my posture and looked at the guard, who was gazing at me with concern while holding a flashlight."I'm sorry, ma’am, but we’re about to close," he said. I glanced around and saw that I was the only one left, aside from the guard. There were no other employees in sight—not even the receptionist from earlier. I hadn’t even realized how long I had been waiting and that I was now alone here. Feeling embarrassed, I stood up and adjusted my blouse. I clutched both my bag and the cake box tightly. "Oh, I see. So

I got nervous and quickly fixed myself, so I wasn’t able to answer him because I was panicking."Are you okay? Eloise? Hey! Answer me," he said, knocking louder. After making sure I looked presentable, I opened the door and immediately saw his worried face."W-why?" I asked, pretending to be confused even though I was extremely nervous now."I'm so worried that you left earlier. Are you okay?" His voice still carried concern.I nodded. "Uh, yeah. I'm okay. I really just needed to pee earlier, that's why I left.""Okay... Do you want to eat somewhere?" he asked, catching me off guard."Huh? But there’s food inside," I replied. I immediately moved away from Wyatt when a few girls passed by and entered the restroom. I heard them whispering and I knew exactly who they were talking about.I looked at Wyatt and caught

He kissed my stomach before lying beside me. He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulled the comforter up to my chest, and drew me closer to him.He dropped small kisses from my shoulder blades up to my neck. He buried his face in the crook of my neck. I ran my fingers through his hair and closed my eyes.Am I too soft for giving in just because of a simple kiss and touch?I woke up to find Wyatt no longer beside me. I looked at my body and saw I was already wearing a large white t-shirt, most likely his. I glanced at the table and saw a note stuck to the lampshade. I took it and read:“I prepared you a lovely dress for tonight. See you later. ♥ —Wyatt”I smiled at the note he

READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.————Chapter 27.1I was surprised when a staff brought me to a large villa, while my companions went straight to the hotel. Since I didn’t have my suitcase with me, I only had my sling bag when I was brought to the villa the staff mentioned. The location of the villa was beautiful, as it faced the seashore, and you could definitely see both the sunset and sunrise from there. I thanked the male staff who brought me to the front of the cabin. After he left, I took the card the staff gave me earlier in the hotel lobby and opened the door.I was immediately greeted by a spacious living room. There were white sofas, and in the center was a wooden coffee table. There were paintings on the walls of the villa, adding to its beauty. As I looked around, I saw a brown door on the side. I walked over and opened it. A room greeted me—with a white bed that had posts on each corner.
Chapter 26.2"Christian? What are you doing here?" I looked behind him. He was the one I saw with Wyatt—the bodyguard in Singapore, where we first met."Fetching you, ma'am," he answered firmly. He stood composed in front of me. When I looked behind him again, that's when I noticed a black car parked in front of my apartment."Huh?" I asked in confusion and looked back at him. "Why?"Instead of answering my question, he said something else—something I didn't expect."Just give me your baggage, ma'am, and I'll send you to the airport safely."I didn’t ask Christian any more questions. It was probably Wyatt who ordered him to pick me up. He must’ve found out I was leaving today and sent Christian to get me.Christian carried my suitcase and placed it in the back of the car. I chose to sit in the front seat because I felt I might get dizzy in the back."How did he know?" I asked Christian once he was seated in the driver's seat. He turned to me and gave a small smile."He surely knows ev
Chapter 26.1"The fetus is healthy, so it's okay to travel via airplane. Just don't forget to take your vitamins, drink milk, and eat healthy foods," said the doctor.I nodded at her. "Okay, ma'am."She wrote something on a piece of paper stating that I was cleared to travel. No one at the office knows that I'm pregnant, and I don’t plan to tell them just yet. I went to the doctor to make sure the baby is safe and to confirm that it’s okay for a pregnant woman to travel. The most important person who should know about this is Wyatt. More than anyone, he has the right to be one of the first to hear this news. I also don’t want him to find out from someone else, but I’m just not ready to tell him right now. Maybe after I return from this event, I’ll tell him. I want to have time to think and relax first. After leaving the doctor's office, Catelyn and I immediately went back to the apartment so I could rest and start packing. I should’ve packed yesterday, but I slept all day, so now I ha
Chapter 25.2When we reached outside Dad's room, Catelyn stopped and looked at her wristwatch."It's almost lunch, what do you want to eat?""Anything nutritious, Cate," I replied as I turned the doorknob to open the door. She nodded and excused herself to leave. As soon as Catelyn left, I opened the door fully and was instantly stunned by what I saw.A familiar build of a man was sitting at the side of my Daddy’s hospital bed. I don’t think he noticed me because he kept talking to him."I didn’t expect that, really. I was planning it, but I didn’t expect it to come at a time like this," he said, taking a deep breath. There was a sting in my chest, but I ignored it and listened to whatever Wyatt had to say to Daddy. "I'll do everything I can to settle this, sir. I rea—" he stopped talking and turned toward me. I swallowed hard when our eyes met."What are you doing here?" I wanted to applaud myself for not stuttering even though my heart was pounding wildly. I tightened my grip on the
Chapter 25.1 I sat there blankly, waiting for my name to be called. Cate was beside me; the two of us were sitting in the waiting area outside an OB-GYN's office at the hospital where Daddy was also confined. Many nurses and patients passed in front of us, and the longer we waited, the more nervous I became.I looked to the side and saw many pregnant women waiting as well. Some had big bellies already, others weren’t visibly pregnant yet. Some were with their husbands, and a wave of envy washed over me seeing how happy they were with their partners.Would he be that happy too when he finds out we’re having a baby? Would he jump for joy? Cry? Would he come with me for check-ups? Shop for baby stuff with me? Will he be that affectionate towards me too? Will he be a caring soon-to-be father like these dads here? What kind of father will he be? Will he be like Daddy? Strict, too?I turned to Catelyn when she held my hand. She looked into my eyes and smiled.“It’s okay. I’m here,” she sai
Chapter 24.2Am I really pregnant?Even though I was scared of the possibilities, I immediately called Catelyn to ask for help. “Cate…” “I’m coming over now.” I blinked rapidly as I stared at the two pregnancy tests placed on top of the sink. My hands trembled as I reached for the box and read the instructions, even though Catelyn had already explained it to me earlier. One red line. Negative. Two red lines. Positive. After we talked earlier, she volunteered to buy the tests and left me alone at the apartment. I was just staring blankly the whole time, lost in thought about all the possible outcomes if—if I'm really pregnant, just like what Catelyn suspected. “Loise?” I turned toward the bathroom door when Catelyn knocked from outside. After giving me the pregnancy tests earlier, I had told her to wait outside. “Uh…” I cleared my throat before answering, “W-what is it?” “You know what you’re supposed to do, right?” she asked nervously, clearly trying to stay strong f
Chapter 24.1"Okay, don’t breathe for a second, alright?" I nodded at her. I followed what she said and held my breath as she zipped up the back of the dress I was trying on."Are you done yet?" I asked, still holding my breath. We’d been at this for a while now, still trying to zip up the floral dress she picked for me to try on.I had no work today, so I asked Cate to help me choose an outfit. Thankfully, she wasn’t busy and came over. I invited her beforehand and she said she’d try to come if she had time. She mentioned she wanted to go to Palawan too."Wait a sec!" I felt her grip tighten on my shoulder as she still struggled with the zipper."Maybe I should just wear something else?" I turned to look at her and saw her face drenched in sweat. She took a deep breath and finally gave up on the zipper."You’re right! This dress is stressing me out!"She flopped down on my bed, catching her breath like she’d just run a marathon.I left her on the bed and went to the bathroom to chan
