CHAPTER 28

Joyce's POV

Everything felt off the moment we stepped into BianCo Innovation. I mean, I could not deny the thick, undeniable, and palpable tension that hung in the air. Tension so thick you could slice through it. The energy of the place was very unsettling. It was overwhelming, almost suffocating but Adrian's voice had somehow managed to soothe and calm my nerves.

I wasn’t so naive to think things wouldn’t get a bit messy, judging from the fake smiles and shifty looks. I, however, never expected to be plunged into this head-on. This had turned into mad chaos; a debacle and being dragged into this left me stunned.

The past two years had been peaceful—just me, Rafael, and the nanny. I hadn’t asked for this mess, didn’t want to be part of it. Yet here I was, tangled in something far bigger than I ever imagined.
