Chapter 7

"Nicole?"

Nicole heard her twin call as she walked into her room without knocking.

"Yes? What do you want?"

She asked, she was working on Natalie's wedding gift, she quickly saved her progress and turned her system off before her sister could see it, she didn't want her to know what she was going to paint for her, she was almost done with the stretch, she turned to her sister who sat on her bed.

"I need you with me for my wedding dress fitting, more like I need to make a choice between so many beautiful dresses and I need you there,"

"Why do I have to go with you for your fitting? I am not the one getting married?"

Nicole asked.

"Because you have to be there,"

"You know I don't like going out and I have an exhibition to attend,"

Nicole responded, there was no way she was letting Natalie talk her into going with her, Natalie draws attention wherever she goes and Nicole didn't want to be caught in that.

"Come on Nicole , I already know the exhibition was postponed so don't try to lie to me, you are bad at lying, I need you there because seeing the dress on you will give me a better look at how I will look on the dress, besides we are not leaving the house, the designer will come over here,"

Natalie revealed.

Yeah, Natalie was right, the exhibition was postponed till the next month, most artists haven't finalized their works so they gave them more time. She guessed those artists' work must be important for the exhibition for them to have postponed, she wasn't a pro so she hadn't complained.

"And you expect me to be glad? Natalie if the designer come over it's means mom is gonna be there and you know mom is not going to let me off, I don't want to be embarrassed in front of strangers Natalie, I rather not get involved,"

She replied to her twin.

"Mom is not going to be around, which is why I picked today, you think I let her run you over? She has a meeting with the senator's wives and you know she will not turn down the meeting for anyone, so what more excuse do you have woman?"

Natalie asked, folding her hands and stamping her feet.

"Okay fine, since it's here and mom is not going to be around I will do it,"

She replied.

"Yay!!! She will be here in about three hours, I will come to get you when she shows up,"

She announced leaving her room, alone Again Nicole opened her laptop and continued the stretch she had been making, she had chosen from the numerous photos of both of them that she had found on the net, and was making something like an outline that she will follow to draw a perfect picture, she was going to make one of just Natalie and one with both Natalie and her fiance, closing her laptop again, she went to her studio, the materials she had bought arrived and she hasn't opened them because she had been too lazy to, now was the best time to.

She spent most of the day, going through the materials she had ordered, picking out the best that would go with the design she wanted, when she was done, she sat exhausted in her studio, it looked so messy but she didn't have the strength to clean up.

"I am just going to leave it all like this until I can gather the strength to clean up,"

She said to herself, she doesn't allow the helps to come here or help her clean, she didn't want them messing with her stuff, even her room, she cleans up herself when she had the time to.

"Nicole?"

She heard her twin call and got off the floor, she picked up her phone and walked towards the door, she met her twin just as she opened the door.

"You even had your phone with you, why didn't you take your call?"

Her twin queried, she checked and realized she had been calling.

"Sorry, I didn't hear it ring, I was just coming anyway,"

"Okay, the designer has been here for more than thirty minutes, let's go,"

"Wow, calm down Miss I am not the one doing fitting, I need to take a shower,"

She said walking away as her twin followed behind her.

"You remember you have to wear the dresses too right? That was our agreement,"

"Fine, I will meet you in your room after I shower,"

She replied.

"Okay, but hurry, thanks,"

Natalie said walking off and leaving her strolling behind, she went up into her room, took a quick shower, and put on a mini dress, she didn't need to wear jeans since she had to take the dress off to try the wedding gowns, she wasn't looking forward to it at all, she knocked on Natalie's doors twenty minutes later, she was greeted by a pretty woman who would be around her mid-thirties and a young lady whom she assumed was the other woman's assistant, Natalie introduced them to her and they were in business, she tried on different dresses after Natalie does and after over two hours of trying on different hug dresses Natalie finally made a choice.

"Finally, we are done,"

She let out, she was freaking tired and needed to rest her bones, are Kay she was that tired she was just lazy, a little sleep will solve that, she thought already picturing laying on her bed.

"Not so fast Miss, you have a final dress to try out,"

Natalie said and resisted the urge to scream no.

"Gracy, could you bring out the dress?"

Natalie instructed the designer who in turn told her assistant to bring out a dress, the most beautiful wedding gown Nicole had seen, she wondered why they kept it away and why Natalie had not tried it on, it looked perfect, she didn't even have the chance to talk as the dress was handed over to her, well one more dress won't kill, not if it was this dress

"The dress suit you so well, wow, I am the designer, but I am still wowed,"

The designer gushed, Nicole turned to look at herself in the huge mirror, the dress really looked breathtaking, it was a ball gown silhouette gown that hugged her waist perfectly and flowed down, it was as if it was made for her, the sweetheart shaped neckline was right against her breast, if the dress was for her, there won't be any need for adjustment, she turned around, she felt beautiful in the dress, it had shining, diamond-like pearls adorning it, if ever she was going to get married this was the kind of gown she wanted, it was glamorous yet fitted her style.

"The dress is beautiful,"

She couldn't help saying.

"I know right? It's a dress made for you Nicole ,"

Her twin said taking photos of her.

"We will take this, along with the one I picked,"

Natalie said, the designer smiled.

"Wait, what? I don't need a wedding dress, I am not marrying anytime soon,"

She said to Natalie.

"Nicole , you never can tell, I never thought I will be married this year either, things happen without us planning it, we will take the dress,"

Her sister replied, Nicole knew marriage wasn't something that will suddenly come for her except her parents decided to marry her off on their own which she won't allow, she didn't even have a boyfriend, the one time she had wanted to date the guy had thought she was Natalie when he found out she wasn't, he had left her, not like she had been heartbroken but after that, she never tried again, and to top it off, she was still a virgin, she never talked about it to anyone even Natalie didn't know, they may be twins but they have their individual secret and this was one of her top secrets, being a virgin at Twenty-six wasn't a flex, she rather no one knew about it, imagine her parents finding out, her mom would mock her and call her a loser when her mom was her age she already had them, she had even tried to get pregnant again but luck had not been on her side.

"I need to rest Natalie, I am done my part, thanks Gracy, I had fun today,"

She said to the designer who smiled at her.

"The pleasure is mine, it was nice working with two pretty ladies,"

"Okay, see you,"

She said and took her to leave, going straight to her room, she laid on the bed her mind going back to the wedding dress, if only she would find the perfect man, but there wasn't any

"How would you know when you don't socialize?"

The tiny voice inside her head mocked.

"Shut up,"

She responded, closing her eyes, she might not have the perfect man or the perfect life but she had, art her baby, and sleep, she needed sleep was the last thought she heard when she woke up again it was to Natalie standing over her on the bed.

"What the heck Nat? You scared me,"

She said pushing her twin off the bed.

"Help me, Nicole,"

She said looking distressed.

"What? What happened? Are you okay?"

She asked with concern, her twin had been fine when she left her earlier what suddenly happened that made her so stressed?

"I am not okay, I forgot something important but I can't leave the house because my period just started."

"Wow, it's that time of the month again?"

"Yes, now I need your help."

Natalie said, pouting sadly.

"With What?"

"I have a request, please don't turn me down,"

Natalie pleaded and all Nicole could think of was 'Here we go again...
