Rosalie

Staring at the pregnancy stick, I observed the two vivid lines confirming my pregnancy. Trying to recall the conception time, I shut my eyes, realizing I'd forgotten to take my birth control pills twice due to stress from my mother's illness and other things.

"Why now? You came at an inopportune time, baby," I muttered to myself, my hand unconsciously on my lower abdomen.

Despite my happiness, I wondered how Adrien would react to the news. If I told him, he'd likely hate me even more and blame me for trapping him in an unwanted marriage.

"I don't know what to do. Should I tell him? Will he want this baby or force a miscarriage?" I pondered, growing increasingly scared. "I can't tell him. He hates me, and I won't let him hate my baby. This child will be mine alone."

A knock on my bedroom door and Serena's voice checking on me had me rising, concealing the stick, rinsing out my mouth and washing my hands before opening the door.

"What should I do about dinner? Mr. Vasanten left without eating," Serena asked.

"I don't know, Serena," I leaned against the door. "Maybe throw it out or give it away. Do whatever you want with it."

"Are you okay, Allie? You look pale."

"I'm fine. I need to sleep for a bit, but before I do that, I need your help," I told her.

"With what?"

"Come in." I moved aside for her to come in, shut the door, and led her to sit on my bed. I joined her. "This is going to be a shock to you, but I hope that you're not too surprised," I said.

"You're making me anxious. Did something happen? I thought I heard you and Mr. Vasanten having an argument earlier in his office?" Serena inquired, concern lacing her voice.

"Um... Yes," I nodded. I took a deep breath and let it out. Sooner or later, she'd find out the truth, so it wouldn't make any difference if I told her now. "Adrien and I are getting a divorce."

"So soon?" She gaped at me in shock.

"It's for the best," I said. "That way, he'll be free to be with whoever he wants, and I'll no longer feel like I'm in a self-imposed prison."

"But..."

"Thank you for everything you've done for me, Serena." I pulled her in for a hug, drew back, and held her hands in mine. "I'll never forget you."

"Why are you telling me this? Are you leaving?"

"Yes." I rose to my feet. "That's why I am telling you this; I'm saying goodbye, Serena."

"Where will you go?"

"I'll figure it out. I need to pack my bags tonight so I can leave tomorrow," I told her. "I don't want Adrien to meet me here when he gets back tomorrow."

"Did he throw you out?"

"I chose to leave." I smiled at her. "Help me, please."

"Of course." Serena rose to her feet and crossed the room to my closet to get started.

I remembered Adrien's words about sending my account details to his personal assistant. I grabbed my phone from the nightstand, went through my contacts for Norman Fraser, found it, and typed in my message, then pressed send.

"Serena, please don't bother with the dresses Adrien got for me. I'll only be taking the ones I bought with my money," I informed her. "Including the shoes, bags, jewelry, etc. Leave everything behind."

"Yes, ma'am," Serena responded.

Staring at my wedding ring with a rueful smile, it suddenly hit me that I'd never seen Adrien wear his wedding band since the day we got married. His ring finger was always bare, and I vaguely wondered where he'd kept it or if he'd just thrown it away.

"I'll never know," I muttered, sighing deeply. "But I know one thing... It'll be like I never existed in your life. We'll never meet again, Adrien Vasanten. I'll make sure of it."

My phone pinged with a message, and I looked down at the screen. It was a credit alert of one hundred and thirty thousand dollars from Adrien's bank. He'd held up his end of the deal as promised, and I'd hold up mine by completely disappearing from his life tomorrow.

~~~~~~
The next morning
Entering the hospital with a renewed sense of hope, I paid the fee for my mother's surgeries before heading to her room to share the good news. Seeing her awake, I waited for the nurse to finish checking her vitals before giving her a hug.
"You look happy. Did something happen, my dear?" Mom asked.
"Yes, Mom," I nodded, taking a seat by her bed. "I've paid the fee for your surgeries, so you're going to get even better soon."
"That's good news. Thank you, my dear." Mom smiled wanly. "Did your father finally hand over the money to you?"
I sighed. "No, Mom," I replied. "Adrien gave me the money." Swallowing hard, I continued, "Um... I'm sorry for lying to you, Mom, but I had to at the time."
"What are you talking about?"
"Adrien and I are getting a divorce. I've not been happy in my marriage for two years now. He doesn't treat me well, and I've had enough of his cruelty," I informed her. "I think it's for the best."
"It is, indeed," Mom agreed. "You are doing the right thing. I support you one hundred percent."
"Also, I have something else to tell you," I smiled.
"What is it?"
"I'm pregnant," I whispered.
"What? Really?" Mom's eyes widened in excitement. "You're going to have a baby?"
"Yes. I found out last night after I took the pregnancy test."
"That's awesome. Will you inform Adrien?"
"No, I don't intend to tell him anything. He wants nothing to do with me, and I know he'll feel the same about my baby. I'm going to raise this baby all by myself," I responded.
"We're going to raise this baby together. I intend to fight so I can also get to meet my grandchild," Mom smiled. "I'm so happy for us. We'll leave this place behind and go somewhere we can finally be happy."
I laughed. "Yes, Mom. Once your surgeries are over, and the doctor says you can leave, we'll get out of here," I agreed.
I'd called Kevin early this morning to inform him about my divorce and my pregnancy. He'd arranged with his friend who worked in a real estate agency to get us an apartment for the time being until after my mother's surgeries. He was happy that I'd finally had enough and decided to leave and promised to always be there for me. I couldn't have asked for a better friend.
~~~~~~

A week later

Mom's surgeries went well, and I was ecstatic when the doctor assured me that she could still have plenty of time before cancer took over. On my way to her hospital room, I encountered Yvette and Adrien seated outside a doctor's office. My attempt to hide failed, and Yvette, spotting me, shot me a smug evil smile as she looped her arms around Adrien's.

Fortunately, he didn't see me, and I knew she wouldn't tell him, so I was safe. They were called into the doctor's office, and I hurried to my mother's room.

An hour and a half later, on my way to the cafeteria, I bumped into Yvette, her sinister smile still in place. Adrien was nowhere to be found, and I was relieved because I didn't want to see him again.

"What do you want?" I asked her.

"My love, Adrien, is waiting for me outside, so I'll make this short," Yvette stated. "Adrien told me that the two of you have signed divorce papers, and he'd speed up the process to finally be rid of you."

"So? I bet you're happy now, aren't you?"

"I'm ecstatic, and you know why?"

"I'm sure you'll tell me," I drawled.

"I'm carrying Adrien's baby. We just confirmed it. After your divorce is finalized, I'll become the true wife of Adrien Vasanten." She fished out a check from her purse and slapped it on my chest, but I didn't take it, and it floated to the ground.

"From me to you; that's two hundred thousand dollars. Take the money and disappear from our lives, loser!" With that, she pivoted on her Louboutin heels and walked away, leaving me staring after her in shock.

As a single mother of three, I've found contentment without needing a man to complete me."Kids, time for school!" I called out. The rush of footsteps down the stairs ensued, and I sighed, reminded of their heedlessness to my warnings about stairs safety."What did I say about running on the stairs?" I admonished. "Apologie

They seemed oblivious to the difference in the value of my time and theirs.The door swung open, revealing a woman in the store's uniform. As she gently closed the door, I glanced up from my magazine to inquire about my suit, only to be stunned by her appearance —she bore a striking resemblance to my ex-wife, Rosalie. While we were married, her long blonde hair cascaded down her back, yet the woman before me now sported a chic brunette pixie cut. The shock left me momentarily frozen, the magazine slipping from my grasp."No way." I muttered as different thoughts raced through my mind. I couldn't believe it. As I blinked to ensure my eyes weren't deceiving me, I rose, attempting to approach her. However, she instinctively stepped back, her back meeting the door. Her fearful expression mirrored that of a deer caught in headlights, paining me to witness."Rosalie, i

Five lost years deprived me of witnessing their first steps, hearing their first words, and celebrating each birthday. A voice in my head reminded me, "You wanted out; you divorced the woman. What did you expect?" Closing my eyes, I acknowledged the painful truth. Rosalie's silence about her pregnancy was a consequence of my decision, fueled by my resentment. As I muttered a curse, memories of Serena's revelation about Rosalie's illness on the day we'd signed the divorce papers replayed in my mind. Regret filled me. I had blamed Rosalie for separating me from Yvette, so there was no way she'd have been able to tell me about her pregnancy. The girl's concerned voice interrupted my thoughts. "Are you alright, sir?" "I'm fine." I reassured her with a smile, rising to my feet. Addressing the woman accompanying my children, I urged, "Ta

Mason asked."I'm not sure." I shrugged. "What did you discuss?""He asked about our mother, and we told him your name," Maya replied. "Then, Mason asked if he has kids, and he said yes."My eyes widened in shock. "He said that?""Yes," Alessandra chimed in. "They don't work.""Should I schedule another appointment with your doctor for a new prescription?" He inquired, already working on his tablet."There's no need," I shook my head. "I know why I've been having trouble sleeping for the past five years."Norman looked up from the screen of his tablet to me in surprise. "You do?""Hmm," I nodded.Putting his tablet on the table, Norman joined me on the sofa, patiently waiting for me to express my thoughts. Rosalie A week later Upon opening my eyes, I was surprised to find myself in a hospital room. The last memory I had was standing before the fridge with the door open, ready to grab the freshly squeezed orange juice I'd made earlier. Suddenly, a screeching sound inside my head made me clutch it, and the events that followed were a mystery. "Baby?" Adrien's anxious voice made me turn towards him. His hair was tousled, evidence of him running his fingers through it, and he appeared as if he had aged ten years since this morning when I last saw him. "What am I doing here?" I inquired, attempting to prop myself up using my elbows, but he insisted I rest. "You need to rest," He urged. "I found you unconscious in the kitchen, panicked, and brought you to the hospital. The doctor explained it as fainting due to stress." "I'm fine," I reassured him. I studied his face in silence, making him uneasy, yet he didn't avert his gaze as I expected. "What?" He grumbled, arching a delicate eyebr

    Rosalie A month later Today, November fifth, the day I gave birth to my children, would have been special if I could remember anything. Unfortunately, I don't recall anything about it. Ronald had planned a big party for our children, who were turning six years old. All their schoolmates, along with some kids from the charity foundation co-founded by Adrien and his father, were invited. With more kids than adults, one can easily imagine how loud the party would become. Children were running and screaming with excitement everywhere I turned. Adrien's backyard had been turned into a mini amusement park for their entertainment, and they appeared to be enjoying themselves to the fullest. Initially, I was unfamiliar with Alissa Dawson, but Adrien informed me that he'd invited her and her kids to celebrate with us. Notably, she had triplets also celebrating their birthday today, so I thought it was fitting. Later, Kevin revealed that Alissa, a police officer in Cardenia and one of my fr

Despite the initial strangeness of seeing her as my girlfriend after years of being my wife, I was grateful for the second chance she gave me to make amends for my past actions. A few weeks into our relationship, I validated my dad's suspicions, confirming it both in a personal conversation and during an interview with Urban Pulse. Despite the unfavorable reception from many, we remained indifferent, knowing that people were uninformed about our situation. I even issued warnings of legal action against anyone spreading slander about Rosalie, which effectively put an end to the online hate speeches. Rosalie became the assistant to the head of the PR department in my company, which significantly eased our relationship. However, the only drawback was the frequent and extended business trips I had to undertake. At tim

He chuckled. "You have this dazed look in your eyes like you can't believe how awesome he is. Let me tell you that women only look at men like that after an amazing time in bed with them." He stated. "And you know this because it's the same way Zara looks at you?" I joked, chuckling. "Maybe." He muttered. "Don't change the subject. Tell me something new; are you back together with your ex?" "I don't know." I sighed deeply. "I asked him for forgiveness, he told me there was nothing to forgive because it's what one does when you're in love with someone; his words, not mine." I remarked. "He told me he loves me, I kissed him and one thing led to another." My cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "You initiated the kiss?" Kevin looked shocked. "It was done on Impulse. She was just as breathless as she let her head fall back, giving me access to the sensitive skin at her neck as I explored it with my tongue. "Rose, we can't do this." I whispered in her ear as I nibbled at her earlobe, making her giggle. "Why not?" She asked. "I want this and you obviously do too." She let her hand trail down my chest seductively, past my belt buckle and let her fingers brush the front of my pants, making me jerk in surprise. "That is saying otherwise." "You were almost..." I paused, gritting my teeth. "I don't think it's wise." I stated. She drew nearer to me, pressing against me, her chest meeting mine. Rosalie I was ashamed of myself for behaving like a fool. I was equally ashamed to face my ex-husband, unable to meet his judgmental gaze or endure his triumphant smile saying 'I told you so.' The signs were there last week when Adam treated me curtly and practically threw the documents I had reviewed for him in my face; I should have realized what was going on then. Initially, I believed he was just having a bad day, and his apology at the end of that day reinforced that notion. The following day, our lunch together seemed to erase the events of the previous day. He treated me fairly until today. Yesterday, after he dropped me home, he asked for assistance with a Monday presentation at the hotel, and I agreed. If only I had known it would unravel like this, I would have distanced myself from him. "I left a document in my bedroom. Can you please get it for me?" He asked. "I think it's on my nightstand." She called me a liar, a manipulator and practically told me that if she were a magician, I would be the only person she'd erase from existence." I responded. Reflecting on our conversation, her words stung more than the slap, and I doubted I'd ever be able to erase them from my memory. It marked the instance when I felt Rosalie's unbridled hatred directed squarely at me. "She said that?" Dad was shocked. "And more." I said. "All I know is, I'm done." I dusted my hands. "I know you love her and you want her to be in this family, but I don't think I can do this. She's happier away from me and I don't want this version of her." "She probably didn't mean anything she said." Dad said in her defense. "She said and I quote; "I curse the day I
