"He's really dangerous," his mother started to say.

"That's more reason why you can't continue to pay for him for something beyond your control." Harry sighed in exasperation. "He'll see you as weak and continue to take advantage of you, mum. Can't you see this?"

"You want to speak to him right? Okay, suit yourself." She dialed his unsaved number and gave Harry the phone.

Harry put the call on the loudspeaker as he held the phone. Lauren's breath hitched when Matteo picked up the call but Harry tried his best to muster all the courage he could.

"Lauren, I didn't expect you to call me by this time." He answered in a calm voice and then chuckled, pretending to be sane.

Harry cleared his throat. "This isn't Lauren. This is Harry."

"Oh my son, how are things with you?" He asked, "Not fair you decided to abandon me when you moved to Los Angeles or is it?" He chuckled again, and the whole pretence was getting on Harry's nerves.

"I'm not your son and don't ever address me as such."
