Chapter 339: Promise

“Why can’t you?” Margaux’s eyebrows deeply furrowed as she looked down on Hendrix.

Hendrix, on the other hand, lowered his head as though he was avoiding her gaze.

Her eyes narrowed in an instant upon seeing his reaction, “Are you hiding something?” She queried.

Seeing him avoiding her gaze made her heart sank. It felt like they were back to square one again and she was afraid her trust issue won’t be able to disappear by the way he was acting.

“Hendrix..” she muttered.

Slowly, Hendrix finally lifted his head once again. Their eyes met me once again and she was taken aback upon seeing his bloodshot eyes.

His lips parted and was about to say something, when all of a sudden, a knock came which stopped Hendrix from speaking.

“I’m here to check if the patient’s already take his medicine,” the nurse politely said after opening the door slightly.

Margaux scowled at Hendrix and saw him sighing heavily.

“My medicine’s there,” he said, then pointed to the nearest table
